Be that as it may, when I went to see my primary care physician, I, upon the suggestion of my sister (first reviewer Dr. Blank) requested a referral/ suggestion for a dermatologist because of my excessive sun exposure in my 20's. I was referred to Dr. Blank. As soon as I set foot in the waiting room, I recognized the couches (My father used to have the same one lol.) Anyway, the wait was not unbearable. During my exam, I was completely honest with her when I said that I would go into the sun with SPF 30 in addition to a tanning accelerator, AND (gasps) that I used the tanning salon three different summers. I told her that I had already stopped using tanning beds and that I will stop using the tanning accelerator. She recommended to me the appropriate SPF to use especially on my face ( thought SPF15 was enough). She thoroughly looked at my skin (at what I thought was sun spots) and as of now, I have nothing to worry about. When I mentioned a disease I was born with that affects the skin, she looked at my (non painful) growths with the utmost fascination. When I mentioned that my skin feels excessively dry, she asked what soap I use and gave me samples of something that should help as well as the name of a lotion that should help. She also recommended to stay out of direct sunlight and to wear a wide brimmed hat. I would like to agree with my sister's statement. Yes, Dr. Blank is very personable. When I used to go to the pool, one woman who I will just refer to as Icarus was very much so "a sun worshiper." Her skin was dark brown, and appeared to have a leathery texture. Note to self: do not become Icarus. I have a followup with Dr. Blank in one year.
