Overall this was a pretty good event. $15 to get in, $6 beers and $8 margs. There were probably about 12 - 18 food vendors. I left full, so I can't complain about the number of vendors. Overall I thought the Tacos selection was solid. Most vendors he'd multiple and different options. A Taco Affair had a great Brisket Taco, Korean Pork Taco and Buttermilk Fried Chicken Taco. All were really excellent tacos. Tacos Is Life were the only one with Birria Tacos. The Beef, Al Pastor ans Shrimp were all fantastic. They were super busy (took about 30 minutes to get them) but it was well worth the wait. Tito's Taqueria delivered me Carne Asada and Carnitas. The meat for both were cubed, different for carnitas, but great flavor. These were all good. Tacoholics also offered some unique options; Fried Avocado, General Tso, Buffalo Chicken and Crack BBQ Chicken. These were good. The chicken was fried (good) and the flour tortillas were cold (would have been better warmed up). There were some dessert options as well. We went with cupcakes from House of Cupcakes, WOW, just WOW!

Definitely a fun filled and yummy day to experience! Admission was $10 if purchased online or $15 at the door. An ATM is located near the entrance if needed. Thanks to Yelp & this festival for my general admission winning tickets! There was ample parking. Workers also guided all to a parking spot. Regardless of where you parked it seemed to be a slight walking distance to the entrance. Make sure you look online before arrival for their schedule of the day as fun entertainment is done almost every hour. We enjoyed the wrestling and loved the chihuahua contest! This festival had a nice option of taco food trucks to choose from. Even though the Gringo's truck forgot to bring their sample tacos, I recommend their chicken & waffle and Nashville hot chicken tacos! I missed out on the Empanada Monster due to its super long line. Yet, everyone raved about that food truck! A festival to Taco about =)

I was surprised! I had been randomly chosen as a winner to attend this festival with a guest and get VIP admission at that! THANKS YELP!!! And what a beautiful day it was just strolling and noshing on NJs own local taco places across the state. So much good food and drinks pouring ! Birria! Korean bulgogi style! Authentic Mexican! Roasted pig! Jerk chicken! And many more taco styles to choose from! Music by NJ bands, a Chi wa wa (I know I spelled it wrong!) beauty contest, bounce houses for the kiddos, wrestling matches....all wrapped up in a gloriously perfect cumulus cloud 75 degree day! I ate so much I was gonna burst lol But who would write the review if I did?? Be good YELPies mwah!

Delicious, Delicious, Delicious The best eating experience Ever!!! The food was Awesome....so much to choose from. Absolutely loved the variety. The crowd was very pleasant and friendly. The Maine lobster truck was very nice, but a bit expensive. However, the best tasting food at the entire festival was the Carlitos. Their Street Corn was Amazing, the Tacos were amazing and the prices were so reasonable. Had an excellent time. Can't wait until next year!!!!

The food fest was a nice opportunity to try out different food trucks and food vendors. There was a live band, wrestling matches, seating areas, and bounce houses for kids. My favorite truck was A Taco Affair because they were the only vendor with a sampler menu, meaning you can trying one of every taco rather than committing to a full meal. Other trucks gave you the option of purchasing regular sets of 2 or 3 tacos ($10-$15) of just one flavored taco. There was free parking on site but I'm disappointed we needed to buy an eventbrite ticket that no one scanned. You can literally just walk in and save $12 per person. Overall I'd pass on this festival in the future. I can get the same , if not better, experience at Pier 13 in Hoboken NJ.

    VIP, Thanks Yelp!

Event Summary: This is their 5th Annual NJ Taco Festival and took place on September 7th at the Sussex County Fairgrounds. It claimed to featured over 50 of the Tri-State Area's Best Taco Producers alongside a variety of Craft Beer and Specialty Cocktails. Additionally their main stage has a full day of Live Music and Culinary Inspired Competition. A couple of past returning favorites are their Chihuahua Costume Contest and Live Lucha Wrestling. This is a family friendly event and we continually expand our Kids Zone featuring inflatables, face painting and more. General Admission to this event includes access to the grounds and all on-site entertainment. Vendors are direct cash sales to attendees. While full menus are available, all vendors are required to include a $2 sample taco so you can graze and taste the afternoon away. Kids under 10 are Free. VIP are $75 for taco buffet and drinks. My Reaction: The event should be free and VIP passes needs to be much cheaper. They only had 1 craft beer company there , Brooklyn Brewery. They had maybe under 50 vendors and should be free to visit the festival because it took maybe 10 minutes to walk the entire grounds, One small oval shape. The VIP tent which cost $75 to enter had one taco buffet area which gave you tasteless far from authentic taco experience. All I have to say it was hard shell tacos and your Better off going to Taco Bell for a better experience. They did have a nice bar in the tent which was included and I guess if you can drink your VIP ticket price it may be worth it

Really glad I didnt have to pay to get in. By mid afternoon lines were packed and you waited more than an hour for an expensive cheesy taco. We only ate at two trucks and ended up going to a burger joint on the way home. Entertainment included stage wrestling and live music.

    Mike W.

It was okay. I guess. I wouldn't go again, but I was honestly happy I went one time. It's just that you pay to get in, and you dont really get that much for your money (not that the ticket is very expensive, an my ticket was a give away (thanks yelp!) )The bands are enjoyable. The pepper eating contest was a let down in terms of enjoyment. There's wrestling going on, but I can't say I'm really a huge fan of that kind of thing. The tacos I had were really really good. That being said, I feel like coming across good taco trucks/food in Jersey/Nyc isn't so rare that you need to have a festival where they all go to.

As part of Yelp's Elite, I won 2 General Admission tickets (1st time I ever won anything lol) to this year's NJ Taco Festival at the Sussex County Fairgrounds for Saturday September 7th. But the GA prices were very reasonable: $10.00 online purchases, $15.00 at the booth and the ViP admission was $70.00, but then again this price includes alcohol sampling. I, of course, brought my wife along to this festival. We left our town of Hackensack at around 1325 and arrived at 1415, not a bad drive down 80 and 287. Once there we stopped at Will Call where they had my name for entry. The grounds are huge and there's plenty of parking. First food truck we saw upon entry was the Cousins Maine Lobster truck. We were already starving and even though this is a Taco Festival, we figured to try one lobster roll from these folks. They pack the buttery toasted bread with a copious amount of lobster meat and well seasoned to boot. After that good lobster roll eating we headed for what we came here for ... tacos! There were plenty of taco food trucks, but other foods as well, such as kettle corn, ice cream, etc.. The live hard metal/rock music was kickin' and hardcore, it added much needed character to the atmosphere. There was lots of games and prizes to enjoy. They even had a bunch of luchadores (wrestlers) from Lucha Libre, it was a hoot! LOL The reason I gave it 4 starts, instead of 5, is because there weren't enough Taco food trucks, there were parts of the grounds where it was open and devoid of food trucks, a waste of good space. Hopefully in the coming years there will be more vendors joining in the fun.

My first taco festival! What can I say, the food was just delicious, tasty and overall amazing!! The torta sandwich from the torta truck was outstanding, it took me back to the tortas I had in Mexico! Entertainment wise, I was expecting a more Mexican authenticity due to the theme of the event.

Drink tickets and taco tickets yay

Start: Won two tickets from Yelp NJ. Thank you Sara M CM. Next: Read Yelp reviews. Bad. Very bad. Oh no. Wife let's stay home. Me let's party. Viva Tacos. Let me say that this event was well organize and well run. Plenty of parking with a dozen or so parking attendants. No lines. Plenty of food options. Mucha cerveza. No issues. Fun. Fun. Fun. It help that the festival had good weather; it was a beautiful day. NJ Taco Festival must have listen to their visitors and/or Yelp reviews because all the negative issues from last year fixed. WOW. Well done. As I mention my wife and I won two VIP tickets. Value $110 each. Ouch. Received 5 $2 taco tokens and 2 beer tokens each. A goodie bag with hot sauce, poster and stuff. Nothing great, but love free stuff. At $110 a little steep for a ticket, but unlimited adult beverages. Beer, vodka, champagne, tequila and food from a local vendor in a private secure area. The only way to roll. Overall, it was a fun event. Plenty of vendor options. Some good and some so so. Tacos $3 to $6 in various styles and ingredients. Lagunitas beer at $5 for a 12/14 pour. Some great hot sauces. Would I go again, yes, but only with a comp. That is how I roll. Cheap these days. The new economy.

There is a photo of what was supposed to be here

Seriously dont wast your money... how can they rip people off this badly... Deplorable... stood in line for the taco buffet to be told 2 there were no tacos.... 75 dollar vip is the biggest waste of money i will never do this again no private reserved seated area no food

    Tom H.

Let me start by saying I got two free tickets so hope the promoters take this as honest criticism. I went on a Saturday around lunch. Checked in and received a swag bag but as others mentioned it didn't include what the ticket said it would. No big deal. Went to the vip tent which had free drinks and one vendor giving our tacos. They were really good, had a good time there. The ticket we had said 5 taco tickets were also included which didn't happen so we wandered out to sample the trucks. Think I would have been pissed to pay $25 and then still pay for tacos. Sure they were discounted but easily could have been $50 per person if you like tacos. Everything was kind of disjointed, saw the margarita mix competition and the lucha wrestling. Both kind of campy but fun. Would up just hanging in the vip tent. Not sure I would go back next year, definitely room for improvement. By the way I was at the Sussex location but didn't see an entry for that.

I usually don't like hot sauce but this is GREAT

Between the shows and animals, there is always something going on. There is no good way to write a review about this place, but I will try! Do you love farm animals? They have 3 barns of cows, a barn for sheep, and goats, pigs, chickens, ducks, rabbits, and so many other animals! DO NOT PET THEM! lol! They even have a milking barn, where they show you how cows get milked on farms. Along with that, they have tons of competitions amongst the animals. Tons of fun to watch! They also have a petting zoo where you can pet the animals, as well as a pony ride. Do you love kitchy shows? From watching someone carve wood to pig races, animatronic shows to acrobatics! You could spend a whole day watching them. Make sure to tip the performers! Do you like food? Well, look no further! You can find anything from typical sausage peppers and burgers to bbq, tacos, and apples 20 ways! Id list all the food choices, but there isnt enough room. There is something for everyone! Even picky eaters. Do you like games? They have plenty of those "easy" carnival games! HAHAHA! Try them once or twice but dont think that 1 more time and you WILL win, the house will win lol! From ring toss to the water game that blows up balloons, and from pick a duck to shoot out the star, they have all the fair games that you can want! Do you like rides? They have over 30! From mad mouse coasters to tilt a whirl as well as many others. You can buy an armband for a full day of unlimited rides or get ticket books! Some other noteworthy attractions are the demolition derby, horse races and shows! All in all, this is a great way to spend a day out with the family. There is plenty to see and do. Oh and plenty of parking! Just make sure that you leave early... the roads aren't designed to handle the amount of cars...

I came here on a Sunday morning with my girlfriend. Drove quite a bit too check this carnival out…read moreas it is located in a rural, isolated location. However, it is at a baseball stadium, presumably for the local semi-professional team. Firstly, if you plan on coming, grab discounted tickets by going into Walgreens. You'll save $5/ticket rather than buying at the door. Though it is an ice sculpture 'park' it is held all inside. Upon entering, the are a couple of 'carnival games' that you can play. This includes the mining/sifting activity you may have seen in museums and also throwing games to knock down cans and clowns. They also sell some food and beverages here. We ordered French fries, chicken tenders, and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was a small cup, something I don't think it's with sharing at all but getting your own. There were only three chicken tenders at $5 but they were only OK. The French fries I thought were actually pretty good. They had some other meals available but it's the typical food you find at carnivals, though maybe not as diverse. That is the upper level of the carnival. Heading down, you enter the main attraction. It's cold so make sure you bring your jacket, gloves, and also recommend snow pants for the kids. Reason being, it's a giant freezer for all the ice sculptures. There were ice slides, Merry go round, small Ferris wheel, bumper cart photo booth, etc. I uploaded some pictures for you to get an idea of what's there. There is a main slide made of ice. This is where the snow pants come in as they will let you slide much easier. In jeans, I wasn't sliding down much at all. They also had a few games here too, free to play (minus the admission cost of course). If you win, you get a ticket to play for free at the prize winning games at the upper level described previously. You can essentially keep playing until you win down stairs which is nice. The day we came there was also snow on the ground. You can actually walk onto the field and build snow man or have a quick snow ball fight. Overall, we were here for a little under an hour and a half. Though the ice sculptures are very nice and detailed, for the admission I thought we would see more. This is probably better for families and kids though. It was a cool thing to see but I don't think I would be coming back. Maybe if I have children in the future but not anytime soon. Just a bit expensive and far for something that I expected to have a bit more 'wow' factor. Again though, the sculptures were incredible. Just wish it was cheaper or more worth it having to drive so far.

The walk-through start time was delayed a bit as they wanted to wait for it to get darker before starting...so those who purchased tickets for 6:00, 6:15 and 6:30 had to wait until about 6:40-45 until they began to let people in. The massive crowd gathered at the gate at around 6:35 dwindled down very quickly once they started to let people in. The walk itself took about 25 minutes...this is with stopping to take photos. The crowds were very manageable. It was never a issue where there was a backup or disruption of the flow of traffic throughout the walk...so kudos to them for limiting the reservations for each time slot. I do think the overall price of $24 per person was slightly higher for the walk-through experience. I would think $15ish would have been more appropriate. One thing to keep in mind that their FAQS state that not carvings are real pumpkins...this became pretty clear as you walk throughout the tour and get an idea of which ones were not real. Not a big deal...but does take away from the "wow" factor of the actual carved pumpkins. I do have to say that the surrounding attractions were a nice bonus. There was live music, a large tented seating area and multiple food vendor selling beer, smores, nachos, pizza, hot dogs and other items. These vendors were very reasonably priced in my opinion. Given this "bonus" I didn't mind the price of the walklthrough. Lots of photo ops as expected. All staff we encountered were very nice.

Needless to say, we purchased 3-day camping tickets back in December the first three minutes they went on sale, and all had a killer weekend! The inaugural Mysteryland USA festival featured ten combined stages/areas stages with a Sunday School 3-stage mini-fest going on all weekend. A Friday night pre-party hosted by Nicky Romero was available to those with Nomad weekend camping passes, and Saturday/Sunday set times ran from 1pm all the way till 2am both days. Steve Aoki closed out the main stage on Saturday and Kaskade did the honors on Sunday, but from open to close, our day was jam-packed with killer sets both days, and plenty of exploring and dancing all around. A+ on stage design, sound, lighting, and of course, the talent! The healing garden, complete with yoga and other cool stuff added some well-needed relaxation/rejuvenation to an otherwise high-energy weekend, and there were plenty of (albeit REALLY pricey) food options. Best of all, the campgrounds provided solace just a short walk away from the party! I'm grading on a curve since this is their first time here in the states, but there's a short list for improvement: 1 - Birdie Bucks - Yes, the festival was cashless, with all purchases scanned from your wristband, but you could only purchase "Birdie Bucks" at select locations, and at the "exchange rate" of $10 USD for 9 Birdie Bucks. They claim to refund unused bucks after the festival, but then deduct a $5 service charge, so unless you want to lose money, you need to be planning & doing math so as to use all your wristband funds...and who the hell wants to do that at a festival?! Compound that with the fact that the entire system went down for a few hours, paralyzing all purchases, and you've got reason to reconsider the rationale for the system. ...Fortunately, I found a workaround to the leftover Bucks situation - Go to the merch shop (which accepts BOTH cash and Birdie Bucks), make a purchase, deplete your wristband balance first, then pay the balance in cash. 2 - Water refill stations - located dangerously close (read: inside) the outhouse area causing even more congestion, with not nearly enough pressure to fill up those camelbaks. Here's where they could take a page from Electric Zoo or EDC and have dedicated high-pressure water refill stations manned by volunteers to keep the line moving and the crowd spread out. All in all, in my mind, ID&T, the Mysteryland organizers did a terrific job their first year, and I hope that the Bethel Woods organizers feel the same so we can party on again next Memorial Day weekend!

Having been to many other festivals where just parking your car is a nightmare, Mysteryland had it all figured out. The little roads around the fest took a beating with heavy traffic but it was nothing like Woodstock back in the day I'm sure. The bathrooms were kept extremely clean at all times. I never had issues with toilet paper or disgusting porta-potties. 2) The People - Everyone was so nice and respectful. The staff were always wishing for us to have an amazing time. I loved the vibes here! 4) The Music - A nice selection of genres from hip top and trap to dark techno and everything in between. The sound was amazing! 5) The Stages - They were so perfectly placed. It was easy to go from stage to stage in 5 minutes. I saw so many artists in one day, I was so surprised! The design of the stages is so unique and each has their own vibe. With a festival that is not sold out like Mysteryland, getting to the front of each stage is an easy task. Where you would expect people to be sardines rammed up against the rail, it is the complete opposite. I vowed to never go front row at a show again after recieving many bruises after Steve Aoki in Toronto. Well here I was, front row at Claude Von Stroke and I had a good foot around me to dance and enjoy myself. I was never shoved or pushed once the entire weekend. 6) The Camping - Camp sites were huge and spacious. The Plaza Central with shops, food, and activities stayed open 24/7 which was a big plus. The general store had everything from underwear to extra tents and sleeping bags. 7) The History - This is where WOODSTOCK HAPPENED!! That is probably the most amazing thing about all of this. The hill we climb each day to go to the festival is where thousands of people stood to watch some of the greatest acts to ever live. The museum on site is very well done and can bring a tear to your eye. So much emotion in one place. Music really does bring everyone together. I'll be back Mysteryland! As long as you are around, I will be coming to visit!!
