    So much for Batman's leg...

If you want to spend $50 for a broken toy and then get your requests for an exchange/refund ignored since December 26, 2022, then purchase from NMC Toys Toronto.

    Google review and response

Long read but do yourself a favor if you plan on ordering from NMC Pre ordered a figure in August 2022, figure was scheduled for September 2022. Fast forward to the beginning of October, curious if the release was pushed back I emailed NMC's Austin beginning with I'm not making a complaint just seeking some information regarding the figures release. I was aware of the wait period for a response was delayed due to covid and he's the only person running his site so I waited over a week just for some acknowledgement, I mean the site has 2 seperate support emails(pretty redundant in and of itself) so I emailed the second support contact email with the logic "perhaps I was mistaken and I sent it to the wrong address and he doesn't respond if it's not the correct email(again baffling) so I'll send pretty much the same email amd apologize for the double email and explain yourself.". Fast forward to the beginning of November 2022. Still no response from Austin or whoever he hired to answer the email for either of my emails other than the auto response he consistently resorts to mentioning as if it's some fine print of a contract everyone misses when in fact I fully understand the auto response and its contents so maybe stop repeating yourself as a defense, but I divulge. As I stated zero responses for over a month. So in my third email I questioned why it takes so long just to get in contact with him for simple information, again surprise no response. So as a final and what I thought would be a fruitless effort, I commented on a old fb post from 2 months prior when I asked about my figures release on said post. Miraculously to my bewilderment Austin had decided to answer me and of all places on the fb post from 8 weeks prior. What I got in response was laughable to say the least and a small example of Austin's attitude to everyone of his customers whom had any sort or complaints. To quote one of the many angry former customers " I suppose it's always a "you live and you learn" experience with NMC. Sorry you had to go through that, like so many others have in the past. The problem is he over-promotes his business on the web so it gets the top hits when you're searching for an item, making it look like the shop is legit and reputable. However, it's any but that and far from the best option for preorders or general consumer reliability. A search of his consumer reviews and revelation of extremely low ratings confirms that. NMC's owner is a toxic powder keg running with on a hair trigger - he's always looking for a fight and will play passive-aggressive with avoidance on communication until he feels he has the upper hand to chew into customers. Utterly personal and not at all professional or relevant to the issue of sales, but that's his business model." This pretty much sums up everything and even had one person post a thread of many more displeased former customers which I will attach here aswell http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/boards/showthread.php?t=38724 The funny thing is that after I commented on the 8 week old post on fb he became suddenly very responsive with his robotic yet disrespectful passive aggressive responses on fb and now through my emails. Yes surprisingly he finally answered my emails only to further belittle me and talk down to me instead of being a professional and just giving me a reply and apologizing he decided to treat a paying customer with no respect and only respond when a complaint was made. To state the obvious I canceled my pre order no matter how little a difference it may make to Austin he isn't getting a cent of my money now or ever and I'll be sure to try to get thus point across to anyone looking to do what he calls business. Lastly and almost as an insult he got his employee to answer my first 2 initial emails which he himself already answered after I had already recieved my email for refund notice. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this guy and his scam of a business. Attached is some screenshots of his responses and my emails to show his less Than professional way of response. As well as his response to my Google review where he seems to try make me out to be the bad guy and I was the one being unreasonable. To Austin (sales) at NMC reply all you want to in your defense but all evidence points to the contrary. Have a fantastic existence

Bunch of dishonest crooks run this store…read more I didn't know anything about weapons, so I got taken for a sucker by these sheisters. I bought a Beretta Elite II bb gun. Nick, the owner said that he sold the same gun yesterday to a customer for $225, and he was gonna give it to me for $180. Great, I thought. Then I went on the internet and realized that the same gun is actually a piece of crap and can be ordered from any website for $50!!! Guy charged me $180 for a $50 gun. Don't even think of buy knives, they're all marked up 2 or 3 times the retail value as well. Of course I went back and confronted Nick. He had the nerve to play dumb, saying things like "oh, it's not the same online" even though it was the exact same model. I even printed the page off the website and showed it to him. HE STILL DENIED IT, to my face, and tried to call ME an idiot and a liar who didn't know what I was talking about. These guys either don't know the retail value of anything in their store, or they deliberately play stupid. I ended up getting store credit after a long argument. These guys will rip you off without blinking an eye, and they do it by acting like the friendliest sales people. Horrible business practices. If you're gonna buy anything from there, don't pay a cent over 1/2 of the marked price. They will say "oh we gotta make a living too", but you have to be firm and tell them straight up that you know what the retail value is, and that's all you're willing to pay. Don't be suckered by these dirty Greeks like I did. I said "Nick, look me in the eye and tell me, as a man, that you did not just rip me off by over $100." Nick muttered some incoherent reply about being Greek and wouldn't hold eye contact.

The staff are usually friendly with me, but they always seem to want to engage in some kind of right-wing conversation, despite my repeated attempts to subtly signal that, 'yeah, thanks but I just want to be going'. The last time I was there they charged me $10 for a 50' length of paracord (the market value is about $5). Another indicator of their markup would be the price for those basic foil emergency blankets from Coghlan's: MEC on King St. has them for $1.75. Central surplus wants about $5. For a big piece of paper-thin foil. After bringing up my purchase, the woman behind the counter wanted to keep complaining to me about NAFTA--god, how old is THAT political chestnut? Bottom line: The only surplus store downtown, but avoid it if you can. You'll pay too much and possibly be creeped out by the overly opinionated staff. Maybe try save-more next to Moss Park.

Expect figures stacked to the ceiling and very narrow isles it is very evident that this is a mostly online distributor. You would be wise to look at their stock online and do in store pick-up, the capacity of the store is very small like it's rough to have more than 5 customers browsing. There's a phone # on the door to call to be let inside. Which is pretty reasonable considering the amount of expensive merchandise and small capacity. Employees are very helpful! Since there's so many figures nothing is physically priced so you will probably end up using your phone to reference their website the whole time you are there. So if you're planning a trip check their stock online first! From what I saw the inventory is accurate and you will have a easier time knowing what you want already. Pricing is mostly retail sometimes a little inflated but considering you are in Canada and won't have to pay international shipping you can get some pretty good deals on rare and high demand figures. Also they have a fee membership program that gives you a nice % off. They also have a pretty big selection of gatcha and other anime merch which was a nice surprise ^^

Owner / Proprietor, Luigi goes 'above and beyond' on repairs for specialty electronics…read more I have a Gameboy G1 specially modded to make chiptunes, sent to me as a gift. After some years of use, the screen went-out and one of the springs in the battery compartment corroded due to a leaky Energizer. I got quotes in the hundreds for repair at various places. On a lark, I asked Luigi at Nerdgasm for a quote and he said to bring the device by for a consult, issued a ticket and said to leave with him for review. Because the device is rare and niche, to say the least, he took his time because he wanted to be careful and examine it properly in case of any other issues. Aging electronics require caution. Luigi took personal interest in the device and suggested a compelling ballpark figure, pricewise. The upshot: spring was replaced and the screen was updated to a modern variant with a lot of added cool features not in the original. The price was in the double digits, well within my budget. While Luigi is not quick with older, rare devices, (because he is cautious), the end result is worth the wait with modest pricing. If you have some rare special electronics where care and attention to detail supersedes speed, Luigi at Nerdgasm is your first consult.

One of the cheapest spots in the city to pick up a board game. The pros are they have a massive collection, a giant library filled with rows and rows of games and collectibles. If I'm in the area, I used to stop by to peruse because I'm that kind of geek. I honestly haven't made them exercise their customer service skills because I research my board games and know exactly what I want. But I can see that newbies could be overwhelmed with all the options coming in. We decided to buy a board game for a friend's child, age 6. My boyfriend ran off to find a game at Meeple without consulting me first. He came out empty-handed, saying there was nothing suitable for that age range. I'm SURPRISED. There's a board game for everything there. I'm not an expert for games for six-year-olds, so I just Googled, found a dad blog and decided Catan Junior was it and purchased online here. They processed our order immediately and were ready for pick up the same day if needed. The truth is my BF was about to check out at Indigo, which is 30% more before I reminded him to check at Meeple again for prices. The only difference *I think* is the packaging art is slightly different and the box is larger at Meeple. If their staff actively asks every customer walking in and tries to help, they can convert more casual or newbie gamers--what a lost opportunity.
