I ended up calling them to make sure someone was coming, and I was able to get a hold of a staff member who said they would be there in a couple of minutes. Well that turned into about 15 minutes later. Once the staff member came, they got the kayak on the water, showed us how to get in and gave us life jackets. The actually kayaking was nice and the weather was good that day. Basically two ways you can kayak through a nature area or by some huge lake houses. Both are obviously beautiful choices. So overall, it was a decent adventure but just did not like the fact they were late in getting things started.

This was kind of risky; at the time, I also had two machines in their service department, and an angry service manager is a dangerous manager...he could have gotten his revenge by delaying the return of my two quads indefinitely. But that was not the case. The very next day after my review, I received a call from General Manager Dewey. Not only did he apologize profusely for my experience, he also offered to try to set things right. Sadly, I had already made my purchase from another dealership. But Dewey didn't let that stop him from personally making sure that my other business with his dealership was taken care of promptly and efficiently. Together with Bobby, they showed me that they DO care about my business, and I am once again a happy customer. I've read several other reviews about MotorCity; while I sympathize with the plight of the writers, I have to wonder if maybe their issues could have been better addressed with a direct conversation with Dewey. I am very satisfied with the results. Dewey has saved my business, and once again I will consider MotorCity Powersports if/when I need service or an accessory. Updated 12/9/2025 After changing the lower gear oil seals,…read morethey told me to bring the boat in the next spring so they could take it to a lake to test shifting from neutral to fwd and rev... Spring 2025 - My son and I figured out when Lakeside re-installed the lower unit, they did not line up the shaft that runs from the lower unit to the fwd/neutral/rev linkage. Wilson Marine took care of this for $350.00. There's no need to put the boat in the water or even put water paddle on the engine. If they installed it correctly to begin with, the shift ctrl would effortlessly slide from neutral to fwd and rev. Steer clear of this company! Original post taken down from Google and Yelp. Probably cause it was too long. Nutshell version: Lake side Marine is a rip off! In fall of 2024 I asked them to ONLY shrink wrap my boat. They took it upon themselves to replace the gear oil which they said had water in it. BS! When I replaced the gear oil a week earlier, the new oil didn't have water in it. They: changed the gear oil - not needed told me I needed new seals which I agreed to have them install. stabilized the gas - not needed. I always took care of all winterization processes except shrink wrap.

We were longtime customers who always paid on time and were…read morepatient and easygoing in regards to scheduling our boat pick up and drop off, letting Dave come at their convenience. But when we went to request our boat drop last year I called right before Memorial Day weekend. I knew that they were busy and asked if they could squeeze us in. Dave said absolutely not. So I asked him if we could have someone else come and pick up the boat and drop it for us instead. He screamed at me and said that he wouldn't be able to do the prep work on it in time but if I wanted to find someone else to do it then fine, go ahead (mind you we had already paid for that at fall pick up as part of our fee). We wanted the boat in the water really bad because it was going to be really hot and wanted to take our family out. So I found someone else who said they would pick up the boat, take it back to their place and prep it for us and then drop it. So I called Dave and let him know. Saturday rolls around and the guy we hired went to go pick up our boat to prep it. Dave refused to let him take it! There were 2 boats in the way (sitting on trailers) and said he didn't have the time to take the 5 minutes to move them (even though the employees in the yard standing around said they could). He then said we owed him money for "something from 2016" but he didn't know what for exactly! What? We have paid you 2 years in a row since then and all of the sudden we owe you money from years ago but you can't even tell us what for?? My husband decided to go up there and try to reason with Dave. When he got there there was only one boat left blocking ours that would take minutes to move. My husband offered to not only pay him the $75 we owed him from 2016 for something but can't say what, but also pay him money to move the one boat in the way so we could get ours out of the marina. He refused, screamed profanities and complained that my husband was parked somewhere that was blocking his boat haulers. My husband (very upset at this point) said "please just let me pay you to move the one boat and this money we all the sudden owe you and I will move my car and we can get my boat and leave". Dave refused and called the police! For no reason at all, after telling us we could come get our boat, he decided to ruin our weekend plans last minute. Just being a jerk. He made it so we had to schedule him to come drop our boat (and pay him the $25 to do so) the following week. When they finally come to drop our boat the guy pulls up (one of Daves workers) and says "I am not able to drop your boat until you give me a check for the money from 2016". With no invoice for the money we supposedly owed him and no explanation as to why we owed him it. And no answer as to why he didn't tell us in the 2 years since that we owed him money. We wrote the check, still tipped the guy who dropped it (it's not his fault his boss is a complete jerk) and finally got our boat back. We were with DSL for 9 years. We always were good clients who paid on time, were understanding when accidents occurred (like the year they lost our boat key and made us buy a new one without reimbursement. And the year they accidentally ripped out all of our stero system wiring when having a guy attend to the boat who had no idea what he was doing, etc). And it seems as though just because he was having a crappy day he decided to use the little power he had (our boat was on his property so without going to court we couldn't force him to give it to us on the spot) to treat us like crap and tried to ruin our family holiday weekend. He lost a loyal long time customer and we have spread the word to our friends and neighbors to watch out. Funny enough, we found others with similarly horrible experiences with his company and not a person who had any kind words for him. Even his employees were apologizing and calling him a "d*ck". Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere for your boat hauling and storage needs. This guy treats his employees and clients horribly and doesn't deserve your business! If I could do zero stars I would.
