My family and I have been ordering from no 1 for quite a few years. Boy, have they been slacking! Yesterday I ordered boneless spare ribs. Told the woman exactly how I wanted it and it came half cooked. SMH! Also, would like to mention, if you're ordering for delivery, make sure you see the receipt. They charge the public for soy sauce. Why? To make more money for their business. They never told me untill I saw the receipt stapled on the bag with their menu. Make sure they give you your receipt! No 1 you are wrong for charging the public and not telling anyone! Found another place and it's 2.00 cheaper than no 1. P. S. They screwed up my orders 5 different times! Typical Chinese fair. Done well. Never had bad food from here only problem I've ever had was heat level so if you can't handle the heat make sure you tell them to keep the heat low if it's a dish that's considered hot and spicy. Had the Singapore mei fun which I always try at every place I order from. It's a curry noodle dish with pork , chicken, and shrimp. It is very spicy so like I said if you don't like that ask for no heat. It's usually a hit or miss with this dish and they definitely hit the mark. It's easy for it to be bland and just taste like curry powder but they have it tasting so full of flavor and lots of pieces of shrimp,pork and chicken. They don't skimp. Also got the pork fried rice it just was rice,lots of onion,pork and green onion. Wish it would have had egg and sprouts but it was still flavorful. Shrimp egg roll had big pieces of shrimp in it. I live near No 1 Chinese so to order from them is convenient, however after reading all the negative reviews I stopped buying there as I did get one bad order once when the kids ran the place. (Owner must have taken a day off). I gave them another chance today and I have to report everything was good. MooGoo Gai Pan was good chicken was fresh, Hot and Sour Soup which I love was maybe a 6 out of 10. Shrimp rolls were hot I think that they are made somewhere else so two shrimp per roll not their fault. One thing I will say is they have prompt delivery.Prices in line with other same type restaurants. They do charge 2 bucks delivery and that may be because I ordered small amount Bill was 24.00. The place is small and not very appealing to the eye. Today I got delivery and probably only the second time having the food... It's too expensive for Chinese food but the question is, is it worth it? I got a Pu Pu Platter so I could try a bunch of the apps (which is my favorite part of Chinese food!) and hot and sour soup, which was recommended in another review. As the other reviewer stated there was no " mystery meat" in the soup but there wasn't much of anything in the soup although very tasty! The Pu Pu platter came with 1 egg roll, 1 spring roll, 2 beef sticks, 2 fried wontons, 2 cheese wontons, 2 fried shrimp, 2 fantail shrimp and 2 shrimp toast. Honestly, although more expensive, I really enjoyed my whole meal! My can of Coke cost $2! Delivery was also SUPER FAST!!!! read more

Disappointing. I swear they put every vegetable they had into my cashew chicken and then maybe 6 pieces of chicken. I was going to give two stars, but I'm trying to be fair since I had one dish. If there had been more chicken, that would have helped and I may not have written a review, but the flavor was not enough to make up for the vegetable overload. I really wish it had been enough as I was starving and I still chucked half of it. Maybe they were secretly trying to make sure I saved calories..... If so, it worked! read more

Chicken Fried rice had no veggies in it aside from raw onion, the general tso chicken was NOT normal it was battered with a sickeningly sweet sauce, no spice at all..egg rolls were good and delivery was fast. read more

Have been coming here since 2008 and the food is pretty consistent even though this little joint looks extremely unappealing. The generic name coupled with the no frills outside and inside would probably make some people run for the hills but I have yet to encounter any problem at this place. Great chicken dishes and their General Tso's is particularly good. Ordered food for holidays and special occasions and there were no complaints. Great way to bring in the New Year. That's all you can really ask for out of a place called 'No 1 Chinese' read more

We have not had any chinese food in NJ and are frequent vacationers in Seaside Park. I will not be returning to this restaurant. First i was on hold for 2 minutes and then two people tried to take my order with many 'I'm sorry what did you say" on my part and repetitions of my order. NONE apparently speaks English well enough to be on the phone taking orders. Although the shrimp and broccoli was excellent, the chicken and chinese vegetables was CHICKEN SKIN and vegetables.(i would prefer meat).and the 2 egg rolls were just roll and a few shredds of cabbage with 2 pieces of shrimp.
