This place is quite the gem. I've been several times, and I've always been so pleased. Our latest visit was on a Sunday at the end of April as ten of us women celebrate the "End of Winter" each year, and we like to be near the coast and boardwalk even though we're from all parts of New Jersey. Xina is very special and has become our go-to for this annual event. For those who prefer hot entrees, their menu is creative and abundant, and everything is fresh as can be. I saw the salmon marinated in miso and served with black coconut sticky rice entree that looked incredibly enticing, and I heard that it was beyond delicious. For those of us who can't wait to savor their sushi and sashimi offerings, we wait all year for the freshest and the best! A few of us don't order the standard tuna, yellowtail, and salmon... we go for what's less of an American's choice, and this time around we SAVORED (amongst other things) the sweet shrimp (amaebi) which are cold-water northern prawns with a delicate, sweet flavor and creamy texture. Most people don't even know. The extra delight is that the top half/delicate shell and head of each shrimp is lightly deep fried and presented alongside the shrimp - a delicious accompaniment with a bit of umami flavor. Again this review is late, I apologize. We went here for our anniversary on March 27, you definitely have to make reservations at least a week in advance and in the summer you better make it two weeks. We got there around six and the place was packed. They're also filling an extremely large amount of takeout orders. Something that you should know upfront: the entrées are very large so you're gonna be taking food home. What I like is they don't make you do it they pack it up really nice for you . You probably can share, I'm assuming they don't want you to know that. My wife was annoyed by not knowing that upfront. She also didn't like our server that much. I apologize I can't remember her name. I thought the woman was excellent, very attentive and very friendly. My wife also didn't think her entrée was that great. Which was a beef and vegetable dish with white rice. She thought the place was overpriced Chinese food which I say is not true. This past weekend I had Chinese with her from a local place in Matawan and it was not anywhere near as good as Xina. She said it was kind of ordinary, but I tried some of it and it was delicious! I had the beef Bulgogi with the kimchi fried rice, absolutely amazing! Don't get this if you don't like the little bit of heat that comes from jalapeños and Kimchi. We also shared what I think the Out of Control roll, absolutely incredible. We also shared edamame which was excellent. I'm pretty sure this place is also BYOB so there are advantages to that. There is a back way into this place off Fischer Boulevard, which is easier than the way I came down Rt 37. iIt's a very lively atmosphere. I'll definitely be back probably with someone else! My favorite restaurant - Xina! From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and elevated, but the real showstopper is the water view. Sitting by the windows overlooking the bay made the entire experience feel special and relaxing. The food was absolutely incredible. The portions are always generous (you'll definitely have leftovers!), and everything was packed with flavor. The pork fried rice was perfectly seasoned and hearty, the chicken lettuce wraps were fresh, crisp, and so flavorful, and we also ordered a gluten-free steamed chicken and vegetable option that was simple, clean, and delicious. What amazing feel good vibes from our Server Dave!! Dave was fantastic! He checked in on us, cleared the table, replenished our water and poured our wine. Came here for dinner last night with some friends. The restaurant is quite large and a reservation is definitely recommended! We were seated promptly and our server was friendly and attentive . We ordered Cucumber wrapped w Prawn and strawberry, Pepper encrusted Tuna and Miso soup. All came out in a timely fashion and were delicious. Afterwards we ordered entrees of Orange Beef, Tokyo Run Special of Chicken & Beef, Chicken Lomein and Fried Rice with Calamri...Shrimp with Siracha sauce.. All were also delicious . Xina will brilliant. I am vegan, and haven't had much luck when i visit New Jersey, but was pleasantly surprised when I went to Xina with my mother. When we arrived the restaurant was packed and we were told that the wait would be 30 minutes. We were walked over to where we could sit down and we started chatting and within 10 minutes we were seated at the bar. The owner stopped by and offer my mother a glass of wine, which she declined, and then we placed our order. I started with a (very generous) salad, and then my main was the Pad Thai with Tofu, and my mother had the Miso Glazed Salmon. Both meals were delicious, and the portion size was enormous. I had a full lunch the following day with my leftovers. The wait staff were very attentive, but not intrusive, and the evening was lovely. I don't hesitate to give Xina high marks. Next time I am in New Jersey I will certainly return. read more

I was so excited to visit Xina and the food didn't disappoint. Started with yellowtail sashimi, which was two pieces, both about an inch thick, and they melted in your mouth. So delicious - I wish I grabbed a photo because it was my favorite bite of the night. We also had steamed shiitake and chicken dumplings which were flavorful and had a good chew. For my main I had the banzai roll and spicy tuna roll. The banzai roll was fantastic and while I enjoyed the spicy tuna roll, I found the seaweed wrapping on the inside a bit tough. I think next time I'd sub spicy tuna and maybe try the crispy rice topped with tuna instead. My husband throughly enjoyed the bacon egg and cheese fried rice. We went for dinner and I wish they had dimmed the lights. We were also sat pretty close to two other couples because it was packed and we were a table of two. It made it feel like more of a lunch rather than dinner. Service was friendly and quick though! read more

Hitting Xina on our last night in town was a must. A full house on a Tuesday night in the off season tells you just how good this BYOB place can be. The interior is bright & clean, with seating available at the sushi bar or dining room. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Our server Abdul greeted us warmly and opened the beverages that we brought. We all ordered house ginger salads. The ginger dressing is to die for. The salads are huge and can easily serve 2 people. For entrees, we ordered our favorite walnut shrimp. The dish comes with 10 lightly fried jumbo shrimp tossed in a grand marnier honey sauce with candied walnuts and strawberries. Our second dish was a first....a delicious Korean beef bulgogi. Thinly shaved korean soy marinated beef served over spicy kimchi jalapeno fried rice. I would highly recommend either of these dishes. We finished our meal with a decadent custard milk pie a la mode. Lastly, a shout out to our server Abdul, who treated us like royalty. The food is amazing, once you've eaten here, no other Asian cuisine will do. The service is tip top, the wait staff is very attentive. Just make sure you have a reservation, BYOB and enjoy the best. On a busy Friday night I came in with my elderly mother who used a walker. The hostess (though super busy) assisted my mom to the ladies room and was quickly able to accommodate us. The most delicious stop over on our way down to AC. Reservations seem to be a must because the place is packed, and rightfully so. The food - oysters, sushi, and Chinese - is delicious and a great combination. The portions are also generous, ingredients fresh, and the food comes out fast! BYO to start. The calamari was fried to perfection - still soft. - The chicken mushu was a huge portion with extra pancakes when requested. Not overly sweet at all with right the amount of crunch. - The xo noodles had a wonderful chewiness. If you like chewy Korean rice cakes or chowfun, you'll love this decision. - We ordered four kinds of sushi rolls, and they were all huge, fresh, and flavorful! I especially liked the Chilean sea bass roll. Unfortunately we were too full to consider a dessert (next time), but the menu looked mouth watering. Finally had a chance to try this place after driving by 1 million times going into Seaside. We got right in. Got some water ordered lettuce wraps with chicken and the general tso chicken with two sides of white rice. Everything was really good. Flavors were delicious. Service was good. I'm not familiar with other sushi places in the area but have no problem recommending this one for Asian fusion cuisine. Just be careful to catch the jug handle when approaching from Toms River;) I had an old gift cert from another life and when I called to make a reservation was informed that they do not expire, bonus. And it's a good idea to make reservations here for dinner, as the place fills up quickly. I wanted to try a special roll and a hot dish, while my date opted for more traditional sushi, neither of us were disappointed. I started with the baked clams, similar to clams casino but with a light mustard flavor. They were tiny and very tender, good but for the price I'd probably skip next time. The red lobster roll was good but the headliner in it was second to the tuna sashimi on the top. This was melt in your mouth stuff, I'm thinking sashimi might be the way to go.... But the roll was good, not too much rice or over sauced. The surprise for me this night was the beef with seasonal veggies hot dish. It was a huge portion of tender beef with copious Fresh veggies. The sauce was subtle, maybe some 5 spice? At $21 this seemed a steal. My friends choices looked good too, but the salmon roll in particular. The wait staff is attentive and informative, and when it gets busy you see just how well they work together. There is a small army of sushi chefs too, no waiting 15 minutes, items come out quickly. The decor is casual but clean and utilitarian, if you are seated along the one side you'll enjoy a nice view of Seaside Heights bridge. It's been noted that prices are a bit higher here than at other local places, but I think the quality of ingredients was top of the line for our choices, pair that with quick service and it's possibly worth the up charge. read more

We ordered take out and it was delicious. This was the best pad Thai I've ever had. Blew all other pad Thai out of the water for me. Pad Thai is usually only okay for me, but I kept going back for more. We also had general tso's chicken, spicy rock shrimp, and dumplings. The spicy rock shrimp was another huge hit.
