Quick delivery and good taste. Needing to write 85 characters is stupid why must people add more than what they feel

Looking for a nice dinner out? A special occasion with that special person? You buy a bottle that you discovered on the pages of Wine Spectator to open as the first course is being served. Well forget about DINING IN at Good Taste because there are two tables one of which is covered in supplies. In addition on a cold December Saturday evening the "dining room" temperature was a few degrees warmer than outside as was attested to by the puffy winter jacket being worn by the staff member at the front counter. Despite the neon's bright sign flashing "dine IN or take out" we were prepared to "take out" as we went on our discovery journey on the outskirts of Tom's River. We received a "warm friendly" greeting from the ski-clothing adorned woman busily taking orders. She smiled and said knowingly more than asked "take out?" Good Taste has a typical Chinese Take Out menu, which we scanned while watching the kitchen team work in factory-like precision. A clanging wok startled us and one of the staff apologized. I couldn't help but notice the ongoing telephone calls and frequency of individuals picking up food. Good Taste is obviously popular with the locals. I also noticed the large portions the kitchen staff squeezed into containers. Hunan pork and hot & sour soup were my choices to "take out." The friendly staff wished me well as I headed out the door. The soup was delicious and filled with ingredients. A perfect CV old day's option. My Human Pork was very good but I like some heat and had neglected to make such a request nor had I been asked my heat preference. But I received two tasty meals for the price of one. Was treated to good service while watching a live cooking show but please change the sign ... you are not "dine in" and clearly diners do not have access to your rest room "employees only." We ordered from good taste Sunday and the food was horrible to say the least. We ordered wonton soup, shrimp mie fun and house lo mein. All the food had a fowl taste like it was days old. Definitely not fresh. It was so bad that we threw it all away. We will never order from Good Taste, should be Fowl Taste Chinese take out again. I heard from others they experienced the same. I don't know if they are new owners or what happened with this establishment as it use to be excellent across the board. Our new go to will be full house on 37 in Toms River. read more

All thier food is good. Try things you've never had before. I prefer spicy without being overdone. I like the combo shrimp/chicken.

As far as the food is concerned... One of the BEST Chinese Takeout restaurants I have had. The food is amazing, and has maintained its quality over the Last Year. Delivery is and has been great. Whether they deliver or I pick up (today was pick up), the staff is very friendly. The food is always delicious, fresh, no complaints at all. My whole family was very satisfied with dinner.. chicken & broccoli, vegetable fried rice, plain lo mein, egg rolls, and fried crab rangoon. DO NOT ORDER. We ordered three times from Good Taste and now they are refusing to deliver to us. The final time we ordered the food was an hour and a half late in no part due to the delivery driver. He both explained and showed us that the staff at the restaurant had been incorrectly putting in our address and said that he would speak to them to get it corrected. Today we attempted to place and order and was told they don't deliver "so far" - we are a ten minute drive. When asked they had no answer as to why despite it being so close and when confronted on their mistake stuck to the "so far" answer. Ultimately abismal customer service and a shame considering how many recommendations we have to take back for this restaurant. I would absolutely be giving no stars if possible. read more

Everyone has their 'favorite' Chinese restaurant and Good Taste is one of ours. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 only because we've had better food from restaurants near by. I've been searching for a good Chinese restaurant in Toms River for a long time. I think I finally found it. Steamed dumplings, Mongolian beef and egg rolls were great! The orange chicken was okay, but still good. They delivered promptly and I think the portions are a great size. I would give no stars if I could. This was once our favorite chinese place but the last few times my food wasn't cooked like I asked. This time was no where near well done. I called they apologized for the mistake and when I asked them to remake it they said no!!!! Will never eat there again. I'm in the food business and always try to do whatever it takes to make my customers happy! You need some customer service classes. You lost a good customer. read more

There food is substandard it's a 30 to 40 minute wait for egg drop soup and rice the people are oblivious there is boxes all over the floor to me that's not sanitary I wouldn't give them 1 star but you have to if you want to leave a comment from now on I'll cook my own food at least I know it will be clean and the food will taste good. read more

Good taste has some really good taste! The sesame chicken combo was on point to a delicious factor! All combos come with an outstanding egg roll and with that follows a unique duck sauce. The egg roll's veggies were really good, and to have that tucked into a crispy fried crunch was just incredible! Fried perfectly and had no grease. It was thick too, I loved it! But that unique, sweet, and tangy duck sauce blew me away. It was such a delightful treat dipped into the egg roll! The sesame chicken was just out of this world. It was a huge filling portion and the chicken was in perfect bite sizes. Every piece was coated in that pleasing tangy sauce. The chicken was in a puddle of it! Extraordinary! It was cooked to perfection with some little crisps on the outsides, bringing out more flavor from that mouthwatering chicken!!! Now for the brown rice and the broccoli, it could do better. I felt like it was bland. The rice tasted like water, same for the broccoli. But my mind quickly turned around with mixing the rice and dipping the broccoli into the sauce. This was a game changer. It was so satisfying! And there was rice absorbed in the sauce at the bottom of the pile of chicken that just had me in awe! Huge fan! Started with the Crab Rangoon, then to Wonton/Egg Drop Mixed Soup, and ended with Chicken Egg Foo Young. All courses were delicious! Fresh, never greasy or oily at all. The soup was not salty, soni was able to taste the egg, the pork in the wonton and even the scallions. The Crab Rangoon was slightly sweet and creamy. Crab meat was cooked but still firm; perfect! The egg foo young was honestly some of the best I've had. Plenty of flavor from all of the veggies within. Brown gravy was flavorful and obviously freshly prepared, as the fats were separated upon opening the container. A quick stir and it was ready to go! Excellent take out, can't wait to try more of the menu! read more

Absolutely horrible. We always give an establishment 3 tries to see if it's consistently bad, or a fluke. This place is consistently bad. The "fried" foods are burned to death in very rancid tasting oil. The beef on a stick was old, and mealy feeling in the mouth. I ordered "Happy Family" lol, anything but. EVERY single item tasted old, and certainly not fresh. Wife ordered Shrimp fried rice......tiny brine shrimp, with white rice. No peas, no onion, nothing. Flavorless, to say the least. We spent $35 and threw the entire order in the trash. This place may have been good once......but that's not the way it is today. read more

Worst delivery i ever had. Ordered a chicken lo mein to be be delivered, when i recieved it, it wasnt what i ordered. So i call them up and they told me that the item i recieved wasnt what i ordered. Was this gross chicken and veggie combo which wasnt near my order. When i tried to explain my actual order they hung up on me. I used to get my Chinese in Brooklyn and in other parts of New Jersey this place is definitely one of your better choices and Toms River I would highly recommend it although my son thinks other places are better I like this one the best because it's clean fast and the owners and Children of the family are extremely well-mannered and courteous I would highly recommend this place anybody looking for Chinese food thank you have a great day read more

Best Chinese food in ocean county! Chicken is always done right and is big pieces of all white meat which you tend to not get at most Chinese take outs. We typically order dragon and Phoenix. Which is general Taos chicken and shrimp combo with some mixed veggies. As well as lo mein noodles. Highly recommended this place! Friendly, fast delivery, and exceptional quality of food. read more

the food is very good. The Lady that takes orders is very fake. As I was waiting for my food I witnessed blatant attitude towards an american delivery person. I was upset with how I saw her treat this person. Most of the customers this restaurant gets are Americans. If I had seen this bad treatment I would not have ordered here. I don't feel I want to pay an establishment that treat our citizens so badly. Even though the food was good, I will not be going here again. This certainly lives up to the reputation. After trying a couple local places, I went with this one and it didn't disappoint. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken via delivery and it came nice and hot with a side of rice and a pork egg roll. The chicken was nearly perfect, tender with just the right amount of crunch. My only gripe would be the sauce wasn't as spicy as I would expect but I'll just have to request that next time. The egg roll was excellent, probably the best I've tasted and the rice was exactly what I'd expect. No complaints, if you're not sure where to get Chinese in Toms River, this is probably the place you want. read more

Food is expensive for the small portion that you receive. You're basically paying for the rice. They never give you utensils even when you ask them to send you some. I called to talk to the lady who took my order and she just hung up on me. Worst customer service. read more
