Good service average orange chicken... average rice (not jasmine) Very good bourbon chicken

I was excited to eat here. I was very impressed with the workers. Very nice and courteous. I was also impressed with the very pregnant woman still working hard. However the quality is just not there. The rice was wet and not a quality product like jasmine The orange chicken had a scorched taste and very little orange flavors. The bourbon chicken however was a pleasant dish.

It's funny that I usually find these similarly-named places in areas where there aren't many other food places around. I'm visiting friends in Ohio and wanted to see what takeout options were for lunch over the weekend. The establishment is tucked in a strip back from the busier road that is in front of the Giant Eagle grocery store to the side. The inside looked better than some small hole in the wall places. It was warm inside. They had a beverage fridge to one side. I was amused by the grass jelly drink cans sitting inside on a lower shelf. For lunch, you receive fried rice and an eggroll with your entree. For dinner, you receive white rice. For an appetizer, I ordered their hot and sour soup. This was atypical, with celery, baby corn, carrots, water chestnuts, and snow peas added. (There's one other ingredient that may be zucchini.) It seemed to be missing bamboo shoots and other mushrooms/fungus besides button ones. The sour was a bit light, there was a lot of white pepper taste (and I felt the spiciness was coming more from this instead of the red pepper), and the consistency of the soup was very thick. It made me feel like I was eating the flavor equivalent of simple pancit but in a soup form. Maybe this was an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink recipe. ^.^" For entrees, we ordered General Tso Chicken, Honey Chicken, and Orange Chicken. All of the fried chicken and sauce looked exactly the same upon opening the containers. My friends tasted each of them and thought we probably had the right ones. They've ordered there before, but probably not all of these at once. I already thought mine was mine because of the few, small, thin shavings of orange peel in my container, and there was an O written on the lid of mine. The orange flavor wasn't strong in the sweet sauce. Based upon texture, I think they use dark meat. Some of the chicken pieces were still crisp and they were not overbattered. The white rice was a bit mushy and stuck together in clumps. I wonder how their fried rice compares. For service, the lady that took our orders didn't smile and seemed quite annoyed to have customers. She answered questions though and promptly went to the back with the cook to start I assume. She later was found, near the kitchen, on her phone while the cook was still making the dishes. She eagerly went to the back with her phone after we accepted the food in a shallow box, and after she pointed out that the plastic utensils, napkins, and packaged condiments were to the side. My friend had to keep calling out to try to get her attention shortly after to ask about extra sweet sauce for their eggrolls. She left so fast. Overall, the food is hot, edible, and I didn't get sick. My friends enjoyed their meals as a it is what it is: American Chinese food. Normally, based on customer service, I wouldn't want to return because I felt like she didn't want us to be there, but, again, there isn't much for choices in the area. Maybe it was a slow day, as we were the only ones there waiting, and she wasn't in a good mood that day. I wouldn't order the same items though. I may try their kung pao chicken next time based upon the ingredients they have. I'm also curious about their roasted pork, so I may check back.

The dumplings were pretty good. The dipping sauce was really good. The hot & sour soup is spicy enough to cure a cold. I love it. There are big chunks of mushrooms and tofu. The wonton strips were a bit too hard. Next time we'll bring more of an appetite to try a couple more dishes.

We have been frequent and consistently happy customers for around 17 years, and one of our…read morepreferred menu selections over that long period was Bourbon Chicken. Until recently, that is! For some unknown reason, the restaurant entirely changed the way the dish is prepared. The chicken pieces are now breaded and dry with very little--if any--of the Bourbon sauce. The first time we received this "new" recipe, we honestly thought perhaps our order got mixed up. But when the second and third orders continued to have this disappointing new (but definitely NOT improved) version, it was clear our old favorite was altered beyond recognition! I can't pretend to know how popular the old preparation was with the public at large, but it was a HUGE favorite with every single member of our family! This new version--NOT AT ALL! It's especially disappointing because we Carrollton area residents don't exactly have an abundance of restaurant options to choose between in the first place, so knocking one off the list is pretty disastrous. But THAT'S how much of a deal breaker the new Bourbon Chicken recipe is!
