Good service average orange chicken... average rice (not jasmine) Very good bourbon chicken
    Jaime S.

I was excited to eat here. I was very impressed with the workers. Very nice and courteous. I was also impressed with the very pregnant woman still working hard. However the quality is just not there. The rice was wet and not a quality product like jasmine The orange chicken had a scorched taste and very little orange flavors. The bourbon chicken however was a pleasant dish.

It's funny that I usually find these similarly-named places in areas where there aren't many other food places around. I'm visiting friends in Ohio and wanted to see what takeout options were for lunch over the weekend. The establishment is tucked in a strip back from the busier road that is in front of the Giant Eagle grocery store to the side. The inside looked better than some small hole in the wall places. It was warm inside. They had a beverage fridge to one side. I was amused by the grass jelly drink cans sitting inside on a lower shelf. For lunch, you receive fried rice and an eggroll with your entree. For dinner, you receive white rice. For an appetizer, I ordered their hot and sour soup. This was atypical, with celery, baby corn, carrots, water chestnuts, and snow peas added. (There's one other ingredient that may be zucchini.) It seemed to be missing bamboo shoots and other mushrooms/fungus besides button ones. The sour was a bit light, there was a lot of white pepper taste (and I felt the spiciness was coming more from this instead of the red pepper), and the consistency of the soup was very thick. It made me feel like I was eating the flavor equivalent of simple pancit but in a soup form. Maybe this was an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink recipe. ^.^" For entrees, we ordered General Tso Chicken, Honey Chicken, and Orange Chicken. All of the fried chicken and sauce looked exactly the same upon opening the containers. My friends tasted each of them and thought we probably had the right ones. They've ordered there before, but probably not all of these at once. I already thought mine was mine because of the few, small, thin shavings of orange peel in my container, and there was an O written on the lid of mine. The orange flavor wasn't strong in the sweet sauce. Based upon texture, I think they use dark meat. Some of the chicken pieces were still crisp and they were not overbattered. The white rice was a bit mushy and stuck together in clumps. I wonder how their fried rice compares. For service, the lady that took our orders didn't smile and seemed quite annoyed to have customers. She answered questions though and promptly went to the back with the cook to start I assume. She later was found, near the kitchen, on her phone while the cook was still making the dishes. She eagerly went to the back with her phone after we accepted the food in a shallow box, and after she pointed out that the plastic utensils, napkins, and packaged condiments were to the side. My friend had to keep calling out to try to get her attention shortly after to ask about extra sweet sauce for their eggrolls. She left so fast. Overall, the food is hot, edible, and I didn't get sick. My friends enjoyed their meals as a it is what it is: American Chinese food. Normally, based on customer service, I wouldn't want to return because I felt like she didn't want us to be there, but, again, there isn't much for choices in the area. Maybe it was a slow day, as we were the only ones there waiting, and she wasn't in a good mood that day. I wouldn't order the same items though. I may try their kung pao chicken next time based upon the ingredients they have. I'm also curious about their roasted pork, so I may check back.

The other thing that really bothered us was food took almost 50 minutes to come out. Our server had barely seen us during that entire time. We would have loved to order an appetizer or something but were not asked. We had a small party (2adults,1 kid) and felt the service was the worse of it all. We had to ask bartender for a discard plate for the crab because the server dropped the food off and then didn't come back for a while.

We waited 45 minutes to get a salad, it was a Caesar salad salad and they were already out of Romain dressing at 7 PM on a Friday night. We had a Caesar salad salad with spring mix instead... No big deal. The portions were huge, but our dinner came in an hour and 15 minutes after we sat down. It was painfully slow, I will say our waitress was apologetic and helpful. And I know that it was busy, but it's really no excuse for it to look so dirty. It only takes a minute to sweep under a table after a party leaves. The bathroom was deplorable, there was water on the floor and muddy footprints everywhere. The napkins on the ground around the tables along with discarded french fries and shrimp tails were a bit gross. The food is five star, the rest... ehhhhh

The elegant atmosphere, complete with white tablecloths and candlelit tables, makes for a memorable dining experience. The service was absolutely exceptional from start to finish. Our appetizer was phenomenal, especially the crab cake--it was one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the crab mac & cheese, which was rich, flavorful, and definitely worth ordering. The portions are on the smaller side, but by the end of the meal we were completely satisfied. Our only disappointment was the fish entrées, as both were a bit overcooked. Aside from that, everything else was excellent. Overall, it's a gorgeous restaurant with outstanding service, delicious appetizers, and a wonderful atmosphere. We'd gladly return and would recommend it for anyone looking for a special night out.

Well, last week I re-visited my favorite restaurant in celebration for our daughter passing a…read morecertification exam. We started with the Bread Service which was a wonderful contrast to our last visit of the red cornbread. It wasn't a typical Focaccia as it was a crusty mini bread loaf topped with a sea salt I believe. The butter seemed standard noting it was listed as cultured sea salt butter;however the Housemade Ricotta, Strawberry Red Pepper Jam in the mini jar was spectacular. I didn't find any notes of strawberries but it had cherry tomatoes, whole garlic and olive oil in it. We weren't asked for our drinks request so we stuck with water(small oversight). Interestingly, our server came back to our table and said that she didn't have the beer available that I wanted. First, I never ordered a beer and not asked and second, I don't drink. So now, our appetizers arrive. The Carolina Squash Blossom was okay, but I'll pass as the crunchy texture was odd and there wasn't much blue crab present. The Calamari Fritti was definitely not popular with my family. The dish included Jimmy Red Corn Meal Dusted Crisp Calamari & Fried Green Tomatoes, Crumbled Goat Cheese, Crisp Ramps, Calabrian Chili-Sorghum Aioli. Despite the appealing ingredients the dish really lacked seasoning and salt. My grilled 16 oz bone in pork chop came pre-sliced which I've never had done with a pork chop but plated well. It came with purple cabbage purée and a sweet and sour root vegetable that tasted just like mashed sweet potatoes. The dish included ramps that seemed fried but really not edible. The application of this wild leek didn't seem to fit the dish as it was very coarse. My wife enjoyed her New York Strip Steak topped with Rock Lobster and a side of Gnocchi & Parmesan Crème. My college daughter ordered the New York Strip Steak also but her was extremely over salted. They re-fired a slightly smaller steak and that came out perfect and delivered by the Chef apologizing. Service recovery goes a long way and they redeemed themselves with dessert. Thanks for converting my opinion as 50% of my review and experience is based on service and or service recovery. We will be back definitely.
