The answer was yes as long as we could get there before closing. Ordered the Szechwan Tofu, veggie Lo Mein and egg rolls. Loved the tofu Dish. The tofu was crunchy and lots of vegetables. The lo mein was good. The egg rolls crunchy and well filled. The portions were very generous and prices very fair. No fortune cookies or sauces were in the bag, so ask for them if you want them. We drive almost an hour for Chinese carry out from a hole in the wall in Newcomerstown. Seriously, the food is that good, the General Tso's stands up and isn't mush like at many other places. The dumplings are fantastic, steamed pouches of meat, what's not to love! We also like the Singapore Mei Fun- curried rice noodles with shrimp and meat. Give it a try! read more

This is an average American Chinese style restaurant in Newcomerstown that make hot to order dishes like Sweet and Sour chicken and gives you large helpings of rice. They are usually quick when you order over phone and pick up, but it takes a while if you order at register since they make the dishes per order. The interior does need to be updated because it doesn't look great, looks untidy but they tend to focus on to go orders because I never see anyone eat inside. I have never experienced bad food from them and my coworkers always order from them without a problem. read more

The last time we ordered there, they were extremely rude! Won't go back! The parents need to train their children how to interact with customers in a more gracious way! Well I stopped out here due to the previous reviews given and I must say it's nothing to write home about, it was ok at best, I lived in NY and the food there is so much better and I have had a lot better here in Ohio. The buffet in New Philadelphia is better, Asian wok in Wooster, chop stix in hills and dale, New Peking in Canal Fulton all much better than here, also if you're going to charge extra for pork fried rice then make sure you add plenty don't make me go looking for it same with the read more

My family has ordered from the China Star frequently for the last 6-8 years and have been very pleased with the food. In fact, China Star was one of the best mom and pop places I have ate. However, each time it has changed hands, the quality has dropped and the prices have increased. The most recent visit I ended up getting peppered steak instead of pineapple chicken and when I called to voice a concern I was told to bring it back and they would exchange it. Not acceptable to me!! Any other restaurant would offer the meal free of charge for the next visit. Not China Star and for this reason I will get my Chinese food elsewhere. I live in Manhattan, and I've eaten more than my share of Chinese food, so I was a bit nervous when my family ordered from China Star when I visited Newcomerstown. I'm happy to say I was in for a pleasant surprise. In short, this restaurant is as good or better than most Chinese restaurants of the same size in New York. We got a sampling of my favorite dishes, and each bite was better than the last. The steamed dumplings are large, perfectly cooked, and tasty! The shrimp toast was among the best I've had. Egg rolls were outstanding, crisp and tasty without being dry or oily. The Singapore Mai Fun was perfectly seasoned and the noodles were sautéed perfectly without being greasy, though it was light on the meats. The General Tso Chicken is stellar, but I prefer a bit more spice, so I'll make sure to request it hotter next time. And the chicken with garlic sauce was full of vegetables and a nice savory complement to the other flavors. Use to love ordering from here, and we do still order, but not nearly like we did. Prices have jumped tremendously. Which I do understand why , but every time it's a new price. It's been a very long time since I have had Chinese food, it usually makes me sick. The food was tasty and portions good. The price was average and the prep time was quick. It's either eat in or take out, no delivery. We had take out. It wasn't easy to locate, I initially passed it, they are next to Dominos. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, beef and broccoli with white rice, lo main, and veg roll. The food was fresh and not overly greasy. I also didn't get sick. I would definitely go back. read more
