My friend told me about the freakshakes here a long time ago now, and when we lunched this week, she exclaimed that there was a tea shop in Shifnal she's been meaning to take me for ages. I was rather perky when I realised this was the place.
It was horrible weather, but I still always fancy a milkshake. I was however torn away from that section of the menu, when the bestie pushed the swanky hot chocolate section under my nose. You think a place, with their ott hot chocolates way just offer you some marshmallows AND cream rather than just one or the other? Not here. We both had the orange one (called something stupid, unfortunately) which consisted of the mug being coated in melted chocolate (resisting the urge to lick the outside of the mug, and hoping the have a very good, very hot dishwasher crossed my mind), Jaffa cakes, orange matchmakers sticks, cream, chocolate and delicious orange hot chocolate. It, was, great.
We both had sandwiches and cake too. On our table were the pulled pork, the christmas panini (the filling also to be known as the hottest substance known to man), the white chocolate millionaires shortbread (big slice apparently very tasty for a sweet tooth), and the lemon and earl grey drizzle cake. The lemon cake was lovely and moist, and the earl grey in the icing was a lovely touch but stronger than I expected.
Cosy atmosphere and lovely staff too. read more
