My younger daughter asked to do gymnastics again and she started up again in June 2017. Since she had not been in gymnastics for many years, she did private lessons to learn some fundamental skills before joining a class in Fall 2017. She has had so much fun and learned a lot in both the private lessons and classes. The sessions are great workouts and she feels proud of what she has accomplished. They do a great job of incorporating gymnastics fundamentals in a fun way. What may seem like a fun activity to them might be preparing them for vaulting or to dismount off the bars. I even took some adult tumbling classes. They were accommodating to all skill levels. Plus they made sure each level was appropriately challenged without feeling like they were holding anyone back. Registration and payments are made easy with an online portal and I love that they have ample parking.

Went here twice with my 3.5 year old for her classes through community education. Such a joke, they…read moreput your children in a back room and offer you a tiny tv in order to "watch" them. This is done for all community education children while those who pay full price are in the gym they show you in all the pictures on their website. Their website that conveniently has no mention of a separated off "back" gym. The class was with a substitute teacher the first night who my child liked WAY more than her actual teacher who decided to grace us with her presence for the 2nd class. After the class with their high and mighty director of preschool and track program Meagan my daughter said she didn't have fun because the teacher was mean. When I called to follow up Meagan informed me, that my 3 year old was making choices that were unsafe by climbing under the bars when other kids were on them. I said to Meagan, convenient how you expect me to talk to my child when I couldn't even see anything happening. From the other reviews I've read it seems like they save the coaches good with little ones for their "regular" paying customers. So they have a problem with you seeing your child during the program and no problem reprimanding your children for things you can't see. Really nice. I will let any and every parent I know thinking about this place for their young children not to waste their time and money.

I watched as my son sat on the mat for 12, 7, and 8 minutes. For other portions, they were in the back room where I couldn't see them. My son told me that in the back room they played the hold still game where if you moved you were bopped (not hard) on the head. He is 4 years old and wants to move. He barely moved in the 1 hour class (mostly just jumping over some walls). Our experience certainly doesn't match the class description. We do gymnastics at Minnetonka High School and various other programs and have had much better experiences than at Laketown. My son loves those classes but was bored at Laketown.

I ended up going all the way to Excelsior to community ed which was basically a tiny room in a school basement with some mats and it was expensive. Little did I know there was this amazing gym in the area. A neighbor let me know about open gym for toddlers Mondays and Fridays 11:15-12:15pm for $5. I took my son on a Friday and found out how amazing this place is. It's a HUGE full gymnastics center complete with vaults, tons of balance beams, trampolines, foam pits, and miles of mats and bouncing floors. It's a great place for kids to let off steam. They also have classes for all ages which are very reasonable (the same as I paid for my silly community ed class). If your even near the area check it out for open gym or inquire about class, it's a really cool place.
