What Happened: - Lack of legal standing: They towed my vehicle without a valid legal reason. - Tries to negotiate: They tried to bargain with me because they knew the tow was illegal. - Endless excuses: They kept calling back with new, fake concerns after you already proved their previous reasons wrong. - Stalled release: They would tell the attendee to release my car, then make up a new excuse moments later to keep holding it. All of which occurred after I waived their tow truck driver down to let him know I had already notified a tow company and that company already had a driver in route, due to me facing mechanical issues. This driver waited until I left my vehicle to call the repair shop it was being towed to and loaded my car illegally. In state of Massachusetts a second tow company cannot intervene with a first tow companies work. It is illegal!!

My adjusted told me that I needed to contact them to go and get my plates and belongings out of my car so that it could be junked and paid off. I didn't have the money to pay for a ride to do this so, I called and spoke to them and they were so kind enough to clean out my car for me and set my belongings aside until I could get my roommate and his girlfriend to go there with her car and get my stuff. I told him that I could have AAA there within 15 minutes to tow the car to my home, but he went ahead anyway. I waited 15 minutes while the tow truck driver chatted with the police officer before the car was finally towed. When I went to retrieve it about 30 minutes later, they charged me $441, cash only. Fortunately, I happened to have cash on me. If not I would have been screwed. The tow company also told me that I should rent a car and leave mine there to be assessed, assuring me that the costs, including the tow, would be reimbursed by the insurance company--none of which turned out to be true. They towed the car just 2.5 miles, yet the total was $441, including a $132 "pull-out" fee for moving the car from the lot. So, I ended up paying $441 to have my car towed against my will, for a distance of 2.5 miles, for 10 minutes of storage. I believe the word for that is extortion.
