The tow ITSELF was $400! $500 Recover fee for my wheel being popped off after the accident. $175 "admin fee" that they obviously couldn't give a clear answer for. $175 "yard fee", same explanation. $250 CLEANING FEE FOR BRAKE FLUID, $275/day to keep it in the tow yard, $180 in taxes, and some other charges I couldn't believe. I called expecting them to give no real answer as to why this pricing is absurdly high, likely because they'll just charge the insurance company who will then trickle it down to the driver. Bingo. Seems like it may be different if you go without insurance route (although his answer was "we wouldn't even tow it"), but I guarantee there's more ethical tows around, not hard to find.

It was 9pm, dark and the car was un-drivable. I called AAA to tow me to a AAA recommended garage. After over 4 hours of waiting, AAA told me they had no driver available to tow me, and that I should call a private towing company. It was after 1am and I was quite nervous. I called Power Lift Automotive and the dispatcher, Rob, answered the phone. He was very reassuring and said that Justin, his driver, would be there within 45 minutes - and he was. I was still nervous because I had to pay cash and leave my car with Justin whilst I got a cab home. But both Rob and Justin reassured me that Justin would take photos of the AAA service station and of my keys being dropped into their drop box - and I received many photos and a texted receipt. Today I called to get a proper receipt to present to AAA for reimbursement and spoke to Andy the owner. What a pleasure to deal with such a pleasant, reliable and competent team of people who put their customers needs and well-being first. The tow truck driver who answered was immediately rude and unprofessional. Due to the poor customer service, I decided to cancel the request. At that point, the representative became hostile, yelling profanities and directing racial slurs at me because of my accent. This type of behavior is completely unacceptable and reflects very poorly on the company. No customer should be subjected to harassment, discrimination, or verbal abuse for simply requesting an update or choosing to cancel a service. After I canceled the towing service due to unprofessional and delayed service, the situation escalated further. The representative continued to call me multiple times in what appeared to be a harassing and taunting manner. During this calls, he used extremely vulgar language and made repeated offensive racial insults targeting me because of my accent. the behavior was aggressive, abusive, and completely unprofessional. I will be filing a formal complaint with Consumer Affairs and reporting this incident through the appropriate channels.
