They made us sign a Change Order to cover work that was already supposed to be covered (Replacing Subfloor) Then charged us $160 each for four sheets of floor underlayment. (Less than $50 sheet at Lowes) Water overflowed and damaged kitchen ceiling (another sub to fix) Installed Medicine cabinet that would not open due to hitting sink faucet. Construction debris sat in driveway for 3 weeks. Dismal Project Management, awful communication, HIGH Price. Dont use Fletcher !

This decision was based upon what seemed to be a fair price, the quality of their work as we had observed at several sites in Fredericksburg, and the infectious enthusiasm of the man who was to be our point of contact and site manager, Jeff F. We hit the jackpot. Once we signed the contract, skilled and friendly craftsman of every variety began showing up and diligently setting to work, all carefully orchestrated along with the deliveries of material by Jeff. He closely managed the subcontractors and directly supervised much of the work. He visited our work site every day at least once without fail; and if we had a question or concern he was relentless in getting it resolved. We made changes to the scope of work and these were accommodated without issue. The project proceeded smoothly from start to finish with hardly a glitch. We were completely satisfied with the quality of the work which was completed on time and within budget. After six months, when one of the installed floors developed a slight problem, we contacted Jeff and he had the subcontractor on site that very day with the fix completed within a week. We are in no doubt as to whom we will call in future should we have more work. On the basis of our experience I cannot recommend Hand Construction too highly.

The estimate Chris Gilley (owner) gave me was fair and detailed, and while he wasn't the lowest quote, he was the most knowledgeable and I felt comfortable enough to really get all my questions and concerns covered. He even pointed out some potential problems we could run into, which we handled, whereas the other contractors I spoke with never mentioned them.
