Our fence is beautiful!! Great craftsmanship. Every post was cemented in to place. They used three framing cross-members between posts instead of just two. The gates are mounted on 6x6 posts instead of 4x4s. Drive-thru gate has sturdy hardware and is beautifully arched and recessed to give the fence a neat dimension. Nice weather caps on every post. We had a fence with a wide gate installed almost 2 years ago. The gate also had an automatic gate opener installed. We have been calling and complaining now for over a year about the gate sagging and not staying closed! This has allowed our dogs to be able to get out of the back yard and into the road in front of our home. They have repeatedly told me that they would come out and fix the gate! We haven't had anyone attempt to fix the mess we now have! Would NOT recommend this company. We paid a LOT of money and the gate looks like hell!!! read more

These guys were a real pleasure to deal with, they gave a fair estimate and performed the job as scheduled. A few weeks after we noticed a difficulty using the gate latch, I called and they sent out someone to look it over. He discovered the problem was from post settling and fixed the issue on the spot. Joe did not 'oversell' on customer service. He said we would be treated well and we were. Quality materials and conscientious crew. With our new home we have had our share of vendors. My husband and I received numerous estimates from various Northern Virginia fencing companies that, needless to say, were out of this world overpriced. We were finally recommended to Fredericksburg Fencing by my father in-law who was extremely happy with their work on his colonial-style home. The one caveat was that we live in a neighborhood of mid-century modern homes. The architecture and landscaping around us delegates a contemporary style. Essentially, no standard stockade fence would do so we needed a custom solution for part of our fence. When we came to Joe with our idea of a horizontal-slat fence for the facade of the house, he wasn't hesitant, nor did he try to pigeon-hole us into a high custom-price, but rather he was really enthusiastic to do something out of the ordinary and was able to give us the lowest bid of all! Outstanding Fence and Customer Service! We wanted to replace our 20-year-old wooden fence with a vinyl privacy fence.  We contacted several of the fence companies in the area to get cost estimates and timelines for installation.  We only received two actual estimates from the larger companies (the other companies either did not respond or said they could not even get supplies for months).  One of the estimates (from the big 3-letter company) was difficult to understand and when I contacted the office for clarification, the representative was rude and could not provide any more information or even a potential installation date.  In contrast, when Fredericksburg Fences did the estimate, Henry took the time while at my residence to explain the fence choices and likely install timeline and answer my questions on the spot.  I received the estimate several days later with a definite install date.  Although I had read some mixed reviews on Fredericksburg Fences, I am a firm believer in customer service, and based on my interactions with them thus far I was very pleased with their professionalism and courteous customer service.  Due to the pandemic, the install date was set 2 months out, which was no problem at all for us.  I understand supplies are delayed and not the fault of the fence company.  Once the install week arrived, the install had to be delayed a couple of days due to heavy rain, and ironically the seriously hot weather the week prior (just weird times).  The install team did arrive on the new date and did a great job installing the fence...that is until the rain started again...crazy weather for sure.  They also did a complete removal of my previous fence, even take the old posts out of the ground! They had to come back the next day to finish the install...the competed new fence is simply spectacular!  The owner, Joe, cam on site to inspect the installation and make sure I did not have any concerns or questions.  And not only did the install crew do a great clean-up after the install, while they were waiting for the owner they took the time to actually hose down my driveway so there was no mud even from their truck tires.  Overall, a great experience, and Fredericksburg Fences is the only company I would recommend for a fence installation...and all with a two-year warranty on their work and materials! read more

Joe came out and gave me a quote, made some good recommendations, then after giving me a quote close to what to others had given me, I ask him to beat those quotes and he did by $100 and then threw in a back gate at no extra charge. They showed up on time, did a nice job (even drilled two holes for my wife to plant two trees in our rocky soil), cleaned up as they went along and the fence is straight, solid and sharp looking. Could not be happier, have referred him twice to others in fact. I think the issues with older reviews is that Joe had a partner and they have now parted company - he mentioned that was going on about the time of my fence installation in October 2014 - so those earlier reviews and issues may be related to his previous partnership issues, now seemingly dissolved. The fence was a nightmare start to finish with delays, leaving us with half a fence for 3 days, cut our phone lines, massacre of our 12 foot evergreen that will most likely die, then hanging gate on wrong side so we walk into a bush. They repaired my vinyl fence which was damaged in a storm and even straightened all posts that were starting to lean. Pricing was good and the crew that accomplished the work were very professional. I originally chose to get a quote from these guys because I found great reviews of them online, no bad reviews whatsoever. HORRIBLE experience! They seemed great & professional at first. Jim gave me a good proposal that I decided to go with & signed. A younger gentleman named Joe came out and spent a while on my property going over the proposal and measurements and then came to my door and told me he was going to make a few changes to make it easier & better. He explained those to me and I agreed that sounded good... he told me it would add about 25 feet, but at no additional charge. I wrote a check out for 1/2 the total cost and they told me they would be here on a Saturday to install, but they showed up early on a Tuesday when I was out of town. Luckily my mom was home & she called to let me know that they were there and not putting the back of the fence in the correct spot. The older gentleman Jim who had given me the quote in the first place had apparently measured incorrectly. . . I called them immediately & said I was concerned that the fence was not in the correct spot at the back of the property... they assured me it was and I told them they should wait to do anything additional until I returned home. When I got home and checked they had already gone ahead and put the posts up and they were in the wrong place.... a convenient difference of about 25 feet had been cut off the length at the back of the property. I called them and let them know I was home and that it was incorrect. Joe came out to the property and I walked down to the back with him and explained that this is NOT where I told Jim to put it when they came out to draw up the quote/proposal, that they had cut my length by about 25 feet. He measured and told me not to worry... he then said we'll get it all fixed... marked where I had wanted it in the first place with spray paint... then he told me it would be just a little bit extra because of the difference... I told him it wasn't my fault that Jim had measured incorrectly in the first place. He told me it would only be a tiny bit more... I told him to let me know (HE NEVER DID). The next day they came out and completed my fence. All in all the quality of the fence was good. However a couple MAJOR issues. One is that they left holes in my yard where they took out the posts they put in the wrong places and two one of the workman came to the door with the bottom copies of the proposal I had signed and wanted an additional $670 for extra fencing. Long story short... I never signed anything for any amended $ amount. I paid the total cost on the proposal in full. Per their proposal any changes in $, materials, plans must be made & signed by both parties. They turned me over to a collection agency even though I paid the full amount on the proposal (not the amended amount that they wrote in to the side for an additional $670). I have all my proof and have a write up going to the collection agency to prove I have paid what I owed as well as complaints being filled with the BBB and VA Board of Contractors. Joe refuses to return my call now. Pretty nasty business practices if you ask me! Stay Away, Far Away!!! read more

The Quality of the work was average, but the whole experience was extremely frustrating. First off, they told me their scheduling was 2-3 weeks out, which sounded great. Their estimate was pretty high, but it looked like they would be quick. I paid half for a deposit. As soon as I paid the deposit, they scheduled me 3 months out. Then, radio silence. They never called before they showed up, never contacted my wife, who was home at the time, then contacted me while I was traveling on business to try to get paid. I told them I would pay after I returned and inspected the fence. Then after I return, I get an e-mail saying they were charging me a 10% late fee for not paying them on time. Even though Fred Fence was more expensive than the other two quotes I received from other Contractors , I decided to go with Fred Fence because of their longer 2 year warranty & thicker wood slats & post. They came out as schedule & completed my privacy fence in one day. The only complaint I have is that the Dog Ear Boards should have had a closer tighter fit which was requested at the beginning but later not performed resulting in large gaps that allows you to see through the fence. read more
