I have been going to BARKS about four years. My little girl is somewhat an introvert but I trust…read morethem with her. Had my little girl there for boarding and daycare. Both have been great. Thank you!

The Good - Our dog seems to enjoy going to Barks and always comes back 100% exhausted (assumingly…read morebecause he has so much fun). We have had generally positive interactions with the staff and the facility seems fairly nice from what we can see. The cage-less atmosphere is a big plus for us. The Bad- You're almost guaranteed to have to pay additional fees for boarding (for those with traditional work or vacation trip schedules). For boarding you can't do a morning check-in or an afternoon/evening check-out without paying an extra $15 fee for each on top of the $50 per night fee. You can't pick your dog up on Sundays at all unless you make pre-arrangements and pay another $15 fee. The Ugly- We felt pretty scammed on our last boarding. We dropped him off Friday for a 1-night stay and were told we could pick him up anytime before 7pm the next day (the front desk girl even said "Saturday? Anytime before 7"). But we received a call at 6:15pm the next day asking when we were coming to pick up our dog because they were closing (they told us the girl at the front desk made a mistake and they don't stay open until 7pm on Saturdays). We said we were 15 minutes away, our GPS said we would be there at 6:30pm. They said they were sorry about the mistake, but that was too long to wait and we would have to pick him up the next morning. We weren't thrilled, but mistakes happen, ok. First thing the next morning we went to pick them up and the front desk girl (the one who had said 7pm) was very apologetic, but then CHARGED us both for the 2nd night we didn't want AND a Sunday pickup fee. Blown away, I asked "are you really charging us for the 2nd night?". She called what I assume was the manager and they took off the Sunday pickup fee but still charged us the extra $50 for the extra night. Might be a little over-dramatic, but it really felt like they held our doggo hostage and then demanded ransom to get him back. We paid it, but we really lost our trust in Barks with this. We'll probably try to avoid Barks in the future if we can. The ???- every time we pick our pup up from boarding, he drinks a comical amount of water. It's probably because he's too busy running around with the other dogs to drink, but we do hope they have water bowls out for the dogs at all times.

Called A-1 and they happily took my appointment, except they failed to tell me until I picked my dogs off that it would be over $100 to have my dogs bathed. What a rip off. Four Paws was great, and if this business is taking over temporarily, they should honor the same prices, or should of notified me of the price change.

I feel that I was very overcharged. I was charged over $100 for a cat grooming for which I was…read morequoted $75. When I picked him up I was charged an additional $25 for a bath and nail trim and then a fee for using a card to pay! For that his ears were not even cleaned. I cleaned them myself when he got home as they were dirty and bothering him. I've been having my pets groomed for 20 years and those things are always included in the grooming price and are never extra. I was never asked if I wanted to add a bath and nail trim if it was to be extra and the groomer knew I was inquiring about the price ahead of time. I would not have paid extra for these things when they are things I could easily do myself and like I said are expected in a grooming. I was a little bothered that I couldn't get a direct quote ahead of time and said I didn't want any surprises at pick up. That left me a little uneasy because groomers typically always give a clear price and what's included so that made me a bit nervous. At which time I was told unless he had really bad mats that she would have to "chisel" off it would be $75...never mention of extra for bath and nails which I of course assumed where included. She looked at him before the groom and never said anything about it being more. At pick up she said his mats came off very easily in "one sheath". I got exactly what I didn't want which was a surprise charge at pick up for the bath and nails. In addition, she groomed him how she liked as opposed to my requests for a long mane, booties and pom pom tail. She did shave his tail when I expressed that wasn't what I had asked for. Finally, he was injured...how I'm not sure and neither were they. His back paw pad was split wide open and bleeding on everything. I did feel he was being handled roughly on the front desk where they think he stepped on a tape dispenser. I have never paid $100 for a cat grooming in my life and I'm from NY where everything is much more expensive nor have I ever been quoted one price and charged more for grooming essentials only to get my cat back with dirty ears, not cut as requested, and injured. The groomer was very nice and she did apologize for his injury however nothing else was offered. They have a beautiful salon and convenient hours. The shave was smooth for the most part except for a gash on his tail. However, for me it was not a great first experience. Will not return.

We were rushed…read morein because the vet assumed our cat was a male- thank you for that concern, but poor job on their part for assuming. Buckwalter is quite literally negligent, incompetent, rude and clearly only cares about money. Poor client communication, poor management, poor customer service. But then it just spiraled downhill- care was given within 5 min without pricing info and consent which ended up being $350 (astronomical) Then we had to go back 2 weeks later due to no information and the issue coming back. Dr. Iyer relinquished his "voice" to his office manager Marlee who is one of the most unprofessional and rude office staff we've ever dealt with in the entirety of having animals- We tried to reach out to Dr. Iyer to where he blocked the email thereafter- if that's the case- remove your email from your website. If you must go here- only see Olivia and Dr. Rushing. Otherwise- steer clear. You'll leave with no answers, incompetent front office staff communication and a massive bill. I'm absolutely mind-blown at my experience for a "luxury" facility. This place is a complete disaster and takes advantage of all of the Sun City people. Either way, avoid at all costs.

My dog has some bad allergies, and I just wanted to know what I could do to help her scratching. Instead, I got cornered with a ridiculous $1,300 "treatment plan" before anyone had even laid hands on my dog. No exam, no diagnosis, just a scripted sales pitch. It was all about money from the second I walked into that room. Then after sitting around for nearly an hour, the vet finally came in. But before we could even start, the vet tech took it upon herself to bear-hug my 95lb dog with zero warning, zero communication, and zero understanding of proper handling. She didn't ask me to help, didn't ask how to manage my dog , just grabbed her like it was no big deal. If my dog wasn't well trained, that assistant could've ended up in the ER. Absolutely reckless. And the pricing? First $1,200. Then suddenly less than $400. Then somehow it ends up over $500. What the hell is that? Feels like they just throw out numbers to see what sticks. To be fair, the actual vet was the only decent part of the visit. She was direct and gave me straight answers when I asked for no BS. Too bad everything around her was a mess. Bottom line, If you want to waste time, be hustled for cash, and trust your dog to people who clearly have no clue how to handle animals safely then this is your place. I'll never step foot in there again.
