These guys are amazing. I had an urgent, very last minute change in who was supposed to be watching my two cats. I had never used Precious Fur before, so an in person intro visit was necessary, but within 24 hours. Which is a big ask. Karen responded right away and nailed down a time the following day. We have pandemic cats and I was terrified to leave them the first time. I found Precious Fur on Nextdoor and gave them a try. They have taken care of our cats each and every time we have gone away and done an amazing job. Our house is complicated to get into with multiple door codes and an alarm. Each sitter has done a great job of getting in, cleaning up and locking back up. They send photos and videos of the cats and send a little report of how everyone is doing. They are very professional but kind and loving to the kitties as well. read more

I debated for a while about making this review but I feel like it needs to be said: I am a Doula and booked a birth with a client in a different state. I reached out to precious fur and they immediately got back to me and set up a first meet ( the only 2 stars they get) . I was gone for 7 days and the first two days I was honestly disappointed. I have a Furbo camera so I can shoot out cat treats to my cat. It' also shows me when someone is in the living room. The first day the girl ( who will remain nameless) was there for 7 minutes. I booked then economy so it's 30 minutes ( or about) but 7 minutes really? She sat on the couch and mostly was on her phone. The second day she stayed 15 minutes but was more concerned with taking selfies of herself in my tall floor mirror in the living room. But what can I say or do? I was in a different state awaiting the birth of my client. My clients birth came later than expected and I asked for one extra night. They accommodated. A different girl came and she stayed 30 + minutes which I appreciate because my cat had only seen less than a hour of contact for the whole week. When I booked the extra day I was charged a late booking fee and a holiday fee for a Sunday? I was not told about this it just showed up on the bill. I get it ...feeding a cat seems easy, but I booked a week. A few minutes every day for 7 days is cruel . Back on the search to find someone who can actual commit to their policies. read more

Updating this review: My services were cancelled and no mention of returning keys was made. It was claimed that they were trying "to expand into my area" but I was already an existing client. Interesting that they would cancel my services without a reach-out about keys for months. Yes, I contacted them about returning my keys. They had just asked for a second key a few months before that. The reason I wrote this review is because you cancelled my vacation services without mentioning my keys, and kept them for months. I had to ask if you were going to return my keys, since the cancellation emails didn't mention that. The emails you mention are about how you were going to return them. So please don't lie or use evasive tactics. You had already told me you weren't going to provide services, but kept my keys. I really think you're lying shows that you shouldn't be trusted. You know I had to ask about my keys, and you kept them until I did so. Yes you had to mail them and emailed about that. Yes I received your emails months later after I contacted you, and no I wouldn't go pick them up. You make it sound like you contacted me first about my keys, and you know that's a lie. As a matter of fact, this went on for months, you not returning my keys. My review below states I tried to schedule again a couple of months later, and you still had my keys. The staff takes cute pics of my 2 kitties and write a nice summary of their visit for each visit, and when we're out of town, I really look forward to seeing the pics and hearing how my kitties are doing. We've been using Precious Fur since November of 2021. Our regular pet boarder fell through right before a Thanksgiving trip and we were frantic trying to find someone. Precious Fur was immediately responsive and offered a very reasonable rate. Caroline came by shortly after for our new client intake appointment. As soon as she sat down, our usually sassy cat came out and settled happily in her lap. Remarkably, Precious Fur has lived up to that amazing first impression! The web site is so user friendly and booking sits is very straightforward. The sitters have been unfailingly lovely and professional. The diary entries and pictures with each sit are delightful and have made me laugh out loud. It's so nice to have peace of mind knowing that my cat is well cared for in the comfort of his own space. I have been using Precious Fur since 2020 and so far it has been a great experience! I have had a few great cat sitters from them, and I would like to recommend Kassandra particularly. She always leaves detailed notes for me on the online portal with tons of pictures to ease my stress of leaving my babies alone at home. Both her and the Precious Fur admin staffs are extremely responsive to my comments and requests. One time, I realized via my cat camera that the bathroom door was shut which blocked my cats' access to the litter box. In 2022 my partner and I adopted a pair of kittens. Since we both work from home we were able to give them constant care and attention, leading to a deep attachment. A year and a half later we were itching to take our first vacation after the pandemic began, but we were anxious about leaving our boys on their own. We turned to Precious Fur based on their reputation, and they have not let us down. We've relied on their sitters for several trips over the last year, ranging from a weekend to three weeks, and each experience has been excellent. The photos and detailed journal updates give us peace of mind that allows us to enjoy ourselves. When a problem comes up, they describe it and take care of it. Some of the problems they've handled for us: cat vomit cleanup, unstable floor-to-ceiling cat tree, smoke detector battery replacement. Your cats are in good hands! The combo that puts Precious Fur over the top for me are their thoughtful sitters and their professionalism of managing their business. The daily journals are so great and always so thorough, I never have to question what's going on with the cats because I get a full narrative report and many photos! The website is easy to use and easy to book through and the sitters we have had were both great. You do have to pay extra for a meet and greet to actually meet the sitter that will be there, which I suggest for peace of mind. Precious Fur is a terrific cat sitting service. Their sitters have taken care of our two cats on 5+ occasions (1-1.5 weeks at a time) so far and each time it has gone great. The cats get their medicines, fresh food and water and litter box cleaning, and also some attention and affection that I know they appreciate while we are away. Each time a sitter visits, we get a journal entry letting us know how it went and we can tell our cats are being taken care of so well. I have NEVER had so much peace of mind. Precious Fur is a dream come true! I could write pages about how wonderful Precious Fur - and in particular, our lead cat sitter, Hiromi - are at caring for my cat. What is clear from the outset is that all of the team are cat lovers, and each kitty's well being is always the top priority. No exceptions - it's always about what the cat needs. They are so professional and have a wonderful online system through which they communicate very thoroughly: posting pictures and letting you know exactly what's happening, from food intake to the litter box. Hiromi, especially, has a magical touch with even the shyest of kitties - my little guy let her pet him after just a few visits (it took him 6 months to let me do that). She goes above and beyond in so many ways - I can't say enough good things. And it's so wonderful to have a team who can cover for each other. Every person I've met has been lovely and amazing (Tia is another rockstar caregiver). Oh - and bonus - they're happy to bring in packages, water plants, and Rocco's litter box trails and food dribbles are magically non-existent when I arrive back home. We are first-time helicopter tiger pet parents with pandemic pets who get made fun of by our friends for how obsessive we are, and planning trips without our cats as the world reopens has been very stressful. We chose Precious Fur over other cat sitting services primarily because we heard they are very selective about their sitters. (We've heard horror stories about dishonest Rovers from several friends.) The Precious Fur website has extremely detailed forms asking you about each pet's appearance and personality, food, toys, home access, parking, and more. A Precious Fur manager comes to your house before your first sit to go over everything you've written and answer any questions you might have. Precious Fur schedules sitters for you based on the dates and times you request, so you don't have to scrape together coverage from multiple friends, neighbors, and sitters yourself. We have two extremely energetic young cats who demand a lot of attention and play time. We requested morning and evening visits each day to coincide with their usual meal times. The same two sitters did most of the visits and visited at roughly the same time each day, which really helped the cats establish a routine in our absence. The sitters sent us detailed journal updates promptly after each visit with photos of the cats eating, playing, and just being funny or cute. The two sitters communicated with each other to ensure seamless hand off. They even offered to water our plants and take out our garbage when we were gone for two weeks. I could tell from reading the sitter updates and checking our pet cam footage that the cats really bonded with the sitters over time, even the less trusting of the two cats. Both cats grew to eagerly await the sitters' arrivals and greet them loudly at the door. We were so happy with our recent experience having sitters from Precious Fur take care of our two senior cats while we were out of town for 8 days. Precious Fur assigned the same two sitters for the whole time so our cats could get to know them a bit, and they were extremely good with our initially shy boy and girl. Both cats got their oral medications, food and water, some pets and attention, and their litter boxes changed -- a sitter even went the extra step to vacuum up some litter that had been sprinkled around to avoid any confusion on the part of the kitties (you know how that can go). Each daily visit, the sitter sent us a little "journal" with pictures of the cats and a report on how they were doing, which was very helpful and reassuring. I personally had a bad experience with them. I was using their services for more than a year, and then they eliminated my area, but held on to my keys (they had asked for a second copy a few months ago). What I really don't like about it is they lied as to the reason they denied services for my pets. They said they were short staffed- but their service map tells a different story. It shows that they no longer go into the south part of SF which is where most of the less affluent people in SF live. Although they still service downtown which has more crime. The first time they told me they were "full" was for a shorter notice sit, but the second time I asked two months in advance and they again said they would not pet sit for my cats (and YET there message said nothing about my keys that they had retained). I also know they weren't telling the truth because both of the sitters that cared for my cats live not far from where I live, as close as Bernal Heights. The truth is always better and they chose not to tell the truth. I had to ask to get my keys back, and there was a significant delay in them returning my keys (months from the first refusal of services, and weeks from the second). read more
