Hot or cold?" He hooked me up with a quart for about $11 with two nice matzo balls in it. I ate that soup at 9am and it was awesome. This market is pretty awesome. The deli is HUGE, they make their own pizza and sushi. The shopping aisles have lots of interesting things and I even ended up picking up some Gardein "chicken" tenders from the freezer because my grocer keeps running out. When they posted their menu to Facebook there was your typical fare of sandwiches, burgers and hotdogs but also scratch made soups and some other interesting additions. Empanadas, tacos as well as pernil are all on the menu. Pernil, a slow roasted pork shoulder, is a celebration and special occasion staple in Puerto Rico and Puerto Rican homes usually served with arroz con gandules. My wife got the empanadas and I ordered the pernil and arroz con gandules. All was excellent, fresh and a wonderful change of pace to other dining options. The pernil was warmed on the griddle which gave it a fabulous crisp that complimented the rich flavor. On a return lunch trip we called ahead to pick up the order while working from home. Our order was waiting for us which was empanadas, including their bacon cheeseburger special (they also make breakfast variants), chicken salad sandwich with potato salad and their vegan butternut squash 'bisque'. The chicken salad was clearly homemade and the sandwich was a generous size. The sandwich included a side (potato salad, my choice) making it a good value. The butternut squash soup was excellent - very thick and there seemed to be noticeable apple bits that complimented the soup wonderfully. The staff was attentive and, while still getting their processes worked out, they were friendly and clearly committed to beginning good business and community members. The only quirk was that we had to order at the front at the main register and pickup in the back, with the posted menu being in the back. I'm certain this will be something that gets worked out over time. The store offers a lot of local products from Mountain Dairy through Hosmer Mountain soda. We are looking forward to going back to supporting them!
