Here's why: I have a Great Dane that seems intent on hurting herself. One weekend (I believe it was a Sunday) last year, she ran through a barbed-wire fence at 100mph and sliced her ear up pretty badly. I called the emergency number for Salava Vet, and a doctor met me at the clinic within 30 minutes. When I got there, she put my dog under anesthesia, (which was a struggle- she's 80lbs of "I don't like needles") and stitched her right up. I braced myself for the cost: my dog had swung her paws around in the struggle and broke a vial of the "knock-out" drug. All in all, with the after-hours visit, the two doses of anesthesia, the stitching, and the reversal drug, I ended up paying around $125. I had expected $300+. Recently, I had a kitty that fell off a balcony and landed on some stairs and broke her rear leg. I frantically called local vets, and none of them could get her in, or they were closed for lunch, or they simply didn't answer their phones. Frustrated, I just rushed her to Dr. Salava. He examined her right away, splinted the injury, and kept her overnight. I called him the next morning, and things didn't look good: the injury was higher on the bone than he had expected, and my kitty had pushed the splint off her leg. He gave me some options: try the splint again (which could make it worse because of how much she fought it), do nothing at all, (in which case it would eventually heal, but would be painful and may not be functional afterward) or do surgery. He recommended a few veterinarians, as they do not do orthopedic surgery at his office. I found a local surgeon and went to pick her up from Dr. Salava. I couldn't stop myself from crying (it was a struggle to find an affordable surgeon- Dr. Atherton in Salina did the surgery, bless him) and the staff at Salava Vet were angels to me. They ended up not charging me for the splint, and sent me on my way with their best wishes. Dr. Salava and his staff truly care about their clients and their animals. I would highly recommend him to anyone. On a side note- their boarding is exceptionally affordable and you can pick up AFTER HOURS! I boarded my Great Dane at his office every time I went to my one-weekend-a-month drill with the Army National Guard. It was wonderful to be able to pick her up at 8pm on Sundays, and be able to get up and go to work on Monday without trying to schedule around picking my dog up. I will never use any other vet!

And the kennel techs Layla and Aliyah obviously love animals, they were just as sad to see him go as I felt dropping him off. For the first time in his 8 year life he was excited to see vet staff. He started throwing up after eating and they called me and the emergency number I left. When I brought him in to the vet another occasion the techs and assistants remembered him (who aren't part of boarding) he got lots of pets and love. The vet herself was extremely patient and kind and dumbed down things for me. *MAINLY* my boy is reactive and they made sure that he wouldn't have to be in the lobby with other animals. I beyond reccomend this facility, it is full of knowledgeable and caring professionals.

In my experience with kenneling they are great. They are respectively priced and they take care of the animals well. The kennel itself is clean and spacious for animals to be able to move around; not my typical experience with vet/kennel facilities. The front office area is clean and well kept and the staff is also very friendly and knowledgable about their products, processes and procedures. The exam rooms are all decorated differently and are cleaned after each exam. The staff really love and care for the animals in my experience. The reason I have to give this place two stars was due to my last visit. My wonderful (sarcastic) English bulldog ate a top of a spatula and it was lodged in his stomach. Animal doctor were thorough in testing and finding damage caused and processes forward. When it came down to it he was going to require surgery and have the spatula removed. After already spending three hundred dollars in testing and x-Rays, they were pricing the surgery at 800-900 dollars. This was only for the surgery, medication and one day of kenneling overnight for supervision. Needless to say we asked another local vet for typical pricing for this surgery, service and care and were quoted 200 dollars. We decided to have the procedure done at the other vet and explained it was due to pricing. A week after the surgery we received a letter with all medical records for our pets and asked us not to return to animal doctor. They never said a word to my husband or I, just said it was clear we did not trust them with the procedure when we had clearly stated it was a price difference that we could not afford. With this experience I feel this place although provides good services does not have open communication with their customers they have had for over a year.

We were (are) traveling from South Florida to Colorado and about 5 miles before reaching Abilene one of our two cats had a major accident. I found Abilene out of sheer luck when we pulled off the highway and headed there in the hope that they could help... Staff took us in right away and were so sweet. They bathed our stinky dude and even cleaned out his carrier, lined it with a potty pad and fresh towel, and sprayed Feliway in both our cat carriers to keep them calm--they even gave us samples of Feliway wipes to keep in their carriers for the rest of our journey! Our vet provided advice on the medication we had given our cats, and adjusted the dosage to help the cats relax even more. We took her advice and purchased two Nurture Calm collars as well. Everything must be working because already both cats have settled down! Thank you guys so much!!!

He was a cherished member of our family for 14 years and the decision was agonizing and truly heartbreaking. We turned to Timbercreek, our family veterinary, to assist us with this difficult time and though saying goodbye to our friend was one of the saddest and hardest things i've ever had to do, the people at Timbercreek were kind, empathetic, welcoming, professional, understanding, and considerate and did everything they could to help us through this. They did everything they could to keep him comfortable, as we all held him, petted him, and made him feel safe and loved in his final moments and that meant so much to me. They went above and beyond to accomodate us. We were so out of sorts that morning that I accidentally made the appointment at the wrong location. Once the mistake was realized the other location was actually closed. Despite this they actually stayed and waited for us to arrive. They were kind, and understanding, and despite staying there past closing purely for us they still emphasized that we may take all the time we needed to enjoy our last moments with him, as well as saying goodbye after he was gone. This was appreciated more than words can say. This was one of our darkest moments and you did everything possible to comfort him, as well as us and i will never forget that.
