Went in for a second massage and it was really great and refreshing. The masseuse was communicative and thoughtful and the massage was very good. The baseline prices (without their massage club) appear to be a little high but you do get great value with these high quality massages. They also really do give you the full hour which I appreciate because I never like when I pay for an hour and it's only 50 minutes but that's not the case here at all. There's ample parking and the massage room itself is very comfortable and amenable to having a good massage. I'd be back and would recommend it to a friend. read more

Love these guys! Have been going to Nokomis a little over a year, maybe two, and they are so friendly, welcoming, and engaging. Even when I couldn't commit to any set schedule, due to my own scheduling needs, they were extremely accommodating saying to just call when I know my schedule, even to set up a same-day appointment. I got to know this crew a couple years back and they have been really wonderful this entire time. I really like that after my first couple sessions, they wanted me to continue but didn't harass and call me 30 times when I stopped scheduling appointments. They respect their clients and in so, expect the same level of professional straightness that often is missing from Minnesota businesses. Their office manager is very direct and very clear. It's refreshing. I'm especially impressed with their Number 2 Doc, Matt. He took the extra time to really get to know what I was interested in with regard to my physical health and double checked that my flexibility and strength would support all the adjustments. I've worked with several chiropractors and Dr. Matt has been by far the most attentive and "collaborative" when it came to my goals. They used a myriad of "extras" from head weights to neck ropes for traction for the top of the spine. I was certain they were going to unveil a pull-up bar or something with everything they had... they did not. I know they have a massage parlor upstairs and given everything they do, it's pretty clear they care about their patients and work very hard to take care of their time and get them back into alignment and full health. I've been coming to Nokomis Chiro for a few years now & they've worked me through a few accidents in that time. The Dr's are knowledgeable about chiropractic as you would expect, but what keeps me coming back is that they are athletes themselves & understand how Chiro compliments those activities as well as other excercises that can help improve mobility and functional movements. The people here are very nice, make you feel welcome. However, they are not clear on how much they are charging you and how much each appointment is. They made me feel like I was paying for the work that I had gotten done but instead I was paying off my giant bill that had accrued over the course of about a month, and set appointments so often that, by the time you realize what your paying for, your in too deep and owe them an arm and a leg. Never once was I informed on how much money my bill was until I stopped going and asked why I was still being charged. Unfortunately my experience here was not a positive one. My impression was that the operation here takes a bit of a one-size-fits-all approach: everyone gets (or is pressured to get) full x-rays, everyone does the "group workout" & it seemed like traction & head weights are prescribed pretty much across the board as well. The hard sell to book 3-4 appointments per week was the biggest turn off for me. While they insist this is the standard of care within the industry, I didn't find it financially or logistically sustainable, even with a flexible work schedule & decent insurance. The gal at the desk is extremely sweet & the X-ray, workout (it's more like a mini physical therapy session) & frequent adjustment schedule probably works well for some people, based on the fact that this place is always busy, but it didn't work for me. Luckily, I found a different chiro in the area that has a way more personalized/natural healing approach in a more zen, private, non gym-like setting, who has diagnosised the root cause of my pain without x-rays & helped to alleviate my pain using the more caring/holistic approach I was looking for. I am always hesitant to write reviews for establishments that provide healthcare, because I understand that every body is so different & there are so many variables that come into play to determine whether or not healing takes place. As my review emphasizes, this chiropractic setting did not work for me. If you want an x-ray work-up & then a blend of physical therapy & frequent adjustments, this may be just the place for you. I did not like the way these people sounded on the phone at all. They tried to tell me that their process for treatment would involve a dozen or more visits, which is nonsense. I play tennis constantly, and I will get issues with my back from time to time. In really serious incidents, I will got to a chiropractor, and I might do one or two at most follow ups. I've never needed anything more than that. For the record, I haven't needed to go to a chiro for the last three years. I don't need some massive treatment plan just to line the pockets of the people running this place. Please! In my opinion, this place just wants to get you back in the door as much as possible. I'm always wary when someone in a suit tries to sell me anything. And when it comes to my health I'm even more suspicious. Nokomis Chiropractic seemed like they were just out for my money. They're nice enough, sure, but so are used car salesmen. Everyone who goes there does the same warm up exercises, the same traction, the same head weights, and from what I saw everyone gets virtually the same adjustment. Every chiropractor I've been to in previous locations have always varied their approach depending on how I was feeling that day. Beware, they truly are salesmen at heart. They'll explain the benefits of using the roller, then they'll ask you WHEN you want to purchase it from them, not IF. And they don't tell you it's available online for cheaper. They also phrase their sentences like you've already agreed to attend sessions for 2-3 times/week, it makes it feel super awkward to tell them no, that's not what's going to happen. Ultimately, I decided to stop going because although I did physically feel some improvement, I hated how pressured I felt to buy more services or products. Plus, it turns out that exercising more often has actually helped just as much as, if not more than, getting regular adjustments. read more

I went to this place on a recommendation from my partner. I got an hour massage with Caroline. Even though it's a little confusing to find I enjoyed myself. The massage was amazing. I like a lot of pressure which is often difficult for massage therapist as they see many people and are often worn out. Not Caroline. After she got started I informed her of my preference and she did not hold back. More importantly she was very consistent throughout the whole massage. For sure coming back for another hour session. I first came here about 2 months ago after a back injury. I could barely walk upright and was in a great deal of pain. I had an appointment within 2 hours of calling them and had a very thorough exam. Since then I've been seen 2 or 3 times a week. The doctors here have a very comprehensive approach, which I really appreciate, so I have been through "crisis management" and am now in the rehab/rebuilding phase, in order to get me in a better position to avoid injuries in the future. I have been sent home with a full rehab program of exercises, stretches and equipment, and it is working! My previous experience with chiros has only been for "crisis management" and I am much happier with this longer-term approach. The staff are very accommodating, and I really like the "group" approach to doing the warm ups. I've also liked the flexibility to reschedule appointments at short notice. Two months on from barely being able to walk, I have started training for my first triathlon. Dr. Olson and Dr. Amundgaard have been instrumental in getting me back on my bike, in my running shoes and in the pool! read more

Let me begin this review by stating that I have been to 6 different chiropractors in the past 10 years for various ailments. Nokomis Chiropractic & Wellness has provided me with the relief that took over 8 months to achieve at my previous provider in 1/4 of the time. I have been receiving treatment at Nokomis Chiropractic & Wellness for about 2 months now and am pleased with the results we have been able to achieve in such a short period of time. When I began treatment back in August, my back pain was so severe that I was having trouble sleeping and was very moody due to the constant discomfort. I feel like I have had neck replacement surgery! My neck was injured in a very slow speed fall while snowboarding about 19 years ago and it has never been the same since. I have tried many chiropractors, acupuncture, cupping, massage, yoga and pilates as well as several rx and otc pain meds to get relief. Flexeril did a great job, but I feel a little wobbly for a day and a half and I don't want the other risks and side effects of rx meds. The neck traction I get at Nokomis chiropractic is the best thing I have come across to get some lasting pain relief for my neck. Dr. Olson is very straight forward and connects very easily with his patients. He embodies the ideals of fitness and healthy living. The office has a great energy to it and the staff are very welcoming and professional. They usually have some kind of new patient special, so give them a try, you will be glad you did. My time with Nokomis Chiropractic and Wellness has been an amazing experience! I have been dealing with severe TMJ pain for going on 7 years and tried everything. On the positive side, I did get a very good adjustment on my neck, and I do think that getting further adjustments from the doctor I saw would have been beneficial. What put me off was the hard, hard sell of a pre-paid package deal, despite the fact that I have good insurance. It wasn't just recommended that I go 3 x week, it was assumed that I would go that often, and I felt like I was asking permission to be excused from doing something that was in fact simply not feasible for me. The first day I went in they provided no treatment, but took X-rays without first asking if I might have X-rays they could get from other providers. Then the front office staff told me she would be scheduling me to come back the next day, and acted incredulous that I couldn't make it work. The topper was when I called one morning to cancel an appointment that I had scheduled for the afternoon, and the office manager said, "Oh, and after I dreamed about it all night!" Was she being snarky, flirty...?? I don't know, but it was inappropriate and off-putting, and also was consistent with her behavior on the phone when I first called to set up an appointment. I have serious deterioration in my neck discs and they have kept me pain free for a long time now. The "Doctor" tried to convince me that I had been in an auto accident (I hadn't) because auto insurance pays more than health insurance - I learned this from a respected orthopedic surgeon. Also they wanted my bank account number in case my FSA dollars ran out. I was told I would need chiropractic therapy for the rest of my life to avoid surgery "if I'm lucky" because of a degenerative condition (bone spurs). Got second opinion at tria orthopedic and was diagnosed with a pinched nerve in the facet joint. No bone spurs above and beyond what is normal for my age. Would not recommend this business as it is borderline unethical to say the least. read more

I had never experienced chiropractic care so I had no idea what to expect. I got in a serious car accident the year before and never sought treatment, but with a continuation of stiff muscles and a sore neck, I finally decided to see what was the issue. This clinic does X-rays on all patients, which logically makes sense considering why would you want anyone moving bones and muscles without seeing what your body is like? The environment is clean and the staff very kind and professional. In my X-rays, my neck was straight as an arrow, which is no good as their was serious curvature loss due to my accident. Within a month of keeping up on adjustments and following the doctors regime, I've regained nearly all my mobility. I no longer feel stiff or sore, and my body is the happiest and healthiest it's been in months.
