We got the al pastor and lengue tacos. This al pastor did not come with pineapples, but the meat was juicy regardless. The lengue tacos were on the drier side but still had a nice chew and were flavored ok. Not the best tacos I've had (I'd say Cali does them better and cheaper), but still a good option in northwest Jersey!

My husband and I visited this place for the first time the other night. We ordered their Steak and pulled (fried) pork tacos. The steak came in an order of 4 tacos for $11.50 and the pulled pork came in an order of 5 for $11.50. Coming out of the kitchen are just the flour tortillas with the meats on them. They have a toppings bar for you to add as many toppings and sauces you'd like. We enjoyed our tacos, although my husband felt it was a bit too oily. We also ordered mango milkshakes. They were nothing special. Better to stick with the Jarritos sodas next time. When the check came, they had 2 different totals listed: cash or credit. They pretty much put it on the customer to pay for the merchant credit fee. It wasn't as if we got a discount for using cash, it was how much everything costs anyway. Wait staff was friendly. It did take some time to get our check, probably because it was busy on a Saturday night.

I'd love to find a fast casual Mexican place in Rockaway, because I'm not always up for a full…read morerestaurant when I get a craving. The service at Lola's is quick. The cashier knew the menu, so he knew to clarify if I wanted a taco platter or just three tacos. They handed me a beeper so I wouldn't have to stand in a crowd. But the ingredients didn't come through. My tacos had cilantro, raw onion, a guacamole sauce, and steak - pretty classic, standard combination. Unfortunately the steak was of middling quality - easily worse than Chipotle's, which is a good standard - and I didn't feel the flavor either. On top of that the hard shells were all stale. I guess I'll try the newly opened Cuban Eddie's the next time I'm at the mall.

They are connected with the adjacent Cafelombia counter. I placed an online order for pickup from Lola's recently and ordered the Grilled Chicken Soft Tacos ($12 plus tax) served with Mexican rice and black beans. The place was very busy when I arrived. When they got to my order, I watched the cook prepare the sizzling chicken on the grill, similar to a hibachi grill and make my 3 soft tacos. The grilled chicken soft tacos had tender pieces of grilled chicken, cilantro and onions in warm double wrap corn tortillas and limes and verde sauce on the side. The Mexican rice was cooked firm and not mushy. The black beans were cooked firm too. The flavors of the food were pretty good.

The portions were really big, leaving plenty of leftovers. We ordered the chicken sandwich, penne vodka with chicken, pechuga a la Columbiana, pechuga empanizada, fried plantains, and yellow rice. All of the dishes felt subpar in flavor. While nothing was bad, it all felt very average. I enjoyed the mushroom sauce with the chicken, but nothing stood out in the flavor. The pechuga empanizada felt a tad over cooked as well. We also ordered the tres leches which followed a similar theme of not having much flavor. Id likely give this place another shot to see if the experience dining in is better.

I ordered a pork loin with rice and soup: the soup was fairly good, the pork had been pounded thin and then fried until it had absolutely no flavor, the rice had utterly no taste, and a couple of tostones had the toughness of cardboard and tasted awful. At least two pieces of maduros weren't completely dry, although they weren't very good. Food has to be handled with care and passion to be any good, and my food clearly was handled with indifference, at best. Half of one star is for the waitress who tried, and the other half a star is for the immense television on the back wall showing a soccer game.
