Our father was under the care of Aloha twice in the last year of his life. We, his children, could not be more pleased with the care that Aloha provided in our time of need. Maya, the owner, was there every step of the way guiding her staff, our father and us through the process so that he received the level of care he needed and one would expect. Communication was beyond excellent. Flexibility with scheduling due to his health conditions was amazing. Cooperation with Hospice care was direct and on point. And the care was delivered with a sincere level of empathy and compassion that gave comfort to all three of us. All of the caregivers were rock-stars. My father really enjoyed the company of and cooking by them all. But Maya, the owner, was the uber-rock-star. When we had questions or needed advice she delivered in a very timely manner and in a way we all could understand. She constantly took into account all three of our needs and desires. Darlene was also an incredible resource for information about at-home care - from the supplies we needed to which items of "durable medical equipment" we should request from the hospital based on insurance coverage. She even went out of her way to be there when PT and OT providers came so that her caregivers could help mom do the exercises in between visits. From the moment he arrived, it was clear that the staff genuinely care about their patients. Every nurse, CNA, therapist, and team member showed warmth, kindness, and a level of compassion that created a true healing environment. The home health team of occupational therapist Alissa, Stacey, her physical therapist Alex, speech therapist Andrea and nursing staff Alyce, Hersey and Anita all were all just absolutely incredible with my mother. My mother went from bed bound to walking with a walker and doing more day to day activities for herself. This journey has been a miracle and we are excited to see more independence for my mother as she now will be going to an outpatient program. Furthermore, their caretakers leave on emergency calls and abandon vulnerable clients for hours. In our case, the client was left stranded in a wheelchair without any immediate attempt by the company to send a replacement. Specifically, she was left entirely alone from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM, completely unable to move around and with no food or water within reach. She sat stranded for five hours in a state of severe panic and distress until a replacement employee was finally sent to assist her. This is an incredibly callous and dangerous practice. We are actively looking for a different care provider.
