only lost a star due slowish service. I love their pizza and menu options. Better pizza up here than in the cities. Friendly staff.

I hope you're hungry or at least smarter the we were. Our only complaint, I'll say it up front, was…read morethe service. It was 3pm. We did t really feel like we were all the welcome and the service was a little on the slow side. But the food way then made up for it. Appetizers: Bruschetta - excellent. Spinach Artichoke Dip - the best I can remember having anywhere. Garlic bread - very good and cheesey but could have used some more garlic. Caprici salad- wasn't on the menu and the were out of fresh basil but still very good. Pizza Fries - it was a small pizza with sauce on the side. All plates were huge and way to much before the enters. There were 7 of us and we had 5 different pastas and a cheese pizza. No one even came close to finishing their order and we took him 6 boxes and a whole small pie. The food was all very good. Much better then I was expecting really. It's that book and cover thing. It's definitely worth the drive from where we live. And I / we will be returning. And keep you eye out for the Chickens. Polish Chickens at that.

And he had asked kindly twice. Ambiance was ok. Simple. I think it would have been nice for them to comp his garlic bread because it came incredibly late, but they didn't.

Didn't have groceries for dinner so decided to take a chance on a restaurant in Brule...needless to…read moresay we were SO happy we did. It had great reviews to begin with but we have nothing bad to say about this family-run restaurant. Theresa was our waitress and was so friendly and made sure to check in with us periodically...She was beyond kind and sweet. THE FOOD: Loved it! Big portions of incredible family favorite dishes. The homemade bread rolls and marinara sauce were delicious. The food was brought out quickly and hot out of the oven! THE BEER: Lots of bottled and tap options with frosted mugs, YES PLEASE!! Check this place out-you won't regret it! Keep this family business running. They deserve it!

I was originally planning to give this place a 4, mainly because I was not all that impressed with…read moretheir pizza, which seemed to be what everyone raves about. However, I've been there a couple times since my aborted review, and they've earned the extra star. The pizza is good, just a little heavy on the cheese for my tastes. One of the sizes comes out in an odd oval shape that fits the platter on which it is served. Odd but cool. More recently, a group of us stopped in for fish fry and whatever else was on the menu. Our waitress actually ran to get a cinnamon shaker from the kitchen to please one of the more finicky eaters in our group. The service has always been excellent. I had the fish fry and salad that night, and both were very good. If you are looking for some Italian dishes, pizza, or fish, you can't go wrong here.

I cannot review Dave and Mary's pizza, as I have never personally been to their farm. But I can…read moreattest to the incredible quality of their cheese and their livestock guard dogs. They shipped us three puppies in 2015. They are now mature working dogs and they are outstanding. They're extremely healthy and fit, intelligent, alert, but gentle. We have not had any behavioral problems nor adolescent hijinks. Never a scratch on the stock from them. They are just perfect. Mary and Dave make their own dog food from scratch, and shared the recipe with us which we use for our dogs. They use some of the extra cast off material from their cheesemaking operation to supplement their dogs' diet. When the pups came air cargo, instead of a bag of kibble with their shipping crates, they had a bag of cheddar cheese curds. The 'dog food' smelled so incredible that we could not help but taste the curds ourselves. If I lived anywhere near Lovetree Farm, that would be the only cheese I would buy. Dave and Mary are super committed to sustainable agriculture. I know that it is a difficult field fo a woman to break into and stay in. It is a male dominated game. But Mary perseveres and her results are amazing. I would go to any length to support her efforts in agriculture. In my own experience as a farmer for nearly 20 years, there is the occasional review or customer who will complain about the cost of artisanal products. Generally someone who complains about it has no idea how much work goes into it, and they don't realize how subsidized and unsustainable grocery store food products are. And finally, they may just not have the discernment to taste the difference between a styrofoam tomato and an heirloom grown organically in a field, between Kraft Cracker Barrel cheese or a handmade cheddar from pasture raised animals. To each his own. Our nation is blessedly full of choices and options for every wallet and taste bud. If you raise livestock or poultry and need a great reliable LGD to help you manage predation on your stock, I highly recommend Lovetree's legendary dogs. And I would definitely pick up some cheese and eat a pizza. If you love open spaces and healthy food and a clean, chemical free planet, and you can afford it, support sustainable agriculture. Even if it costs you a little more personally. It's the right thing to do. Well worth the investment.

It's Sunday, so obviously you want to partake in LoveTree Farms' Pizza by the Pond. When I heard…read morethere was another farm that offered pizzas with fresh, homegrown and homemade ingredients, I was totally game. Pizza Farm is cool and all, but like, EVERYONE and their mom knows about it. LoveTree Farm is about 1.5 hours from the Twin Cities, but the drive past Taylors Fall is beautiful. When you're on County Road Z, don't miss the LoveTree's pink sign. There will be ample parking right next to the pasture, with some cows looking disinterestedly at you. Amble down to the Shire-like Grotto, which is built into the earth. It sits on a swell of land that slopes into the Pond, hence the name Pizza by the Pond. Their wood-fired pizzas range from $25-$30 and all of them are topped with cheese made right at the farm. Three of us shared one pizza, half Savory and half Cheese Me Please with added chorizo. This was $25, $30 with tip. It was way less crowded, there were maybe five or six other hanging out to eat pizza. The Savory was topped with thick slices of ham, fresh basil, slices of pear and portobella mushrooms, and herbed goat cheese. The herb goat cheese really added a nice dimension to the pizza. The Cheese Me Please was supposed to have three cheeses, tomatoes and basil, but I only detected goat cheese. Nevertheless, it was pretty tasty with the chorizo on top. The chorizo itself was more like a sausage, with notes of fennel. They had sprinkled sea salt on the crust, too. If you love good cheese, you will not be disappointed. The pizzas had generous dollops of cheese. It was rich, so I suggest bringing some salad or fruit to round out your meal. I also recommend citronella candles to ward off bugs. You're allowed to walk around the farm and gawk at the animals. LoveTree has a group of Guardian Dogs - some mastiff/Tatra/Maremma mixes - that are a bit barky, but if you pop a squat and let them sniff you out, then you guys can be friends. Some are still wary though, but leave them alone and they will leave you alone. Also as a note to those with sensitive noses; it is a farm and smells like one. LoveTree is cash-only and you have to bring everything - napkins, plates, drinks, etc - and carry the trash out, but those are pretty minor points when you get to eat pizza made with fresh ingredients and ultra-local cheese on hand-kneaded dough. We were the last ones to arrive and it was a pleasure to sit and eat outside in the cooling air, with a runty farm dog waiting patiently for you to drop a morsel, as the sky began to darken and the stars coming into view.
