Stopped in for some pho while driving through town. We get pho a lot in San Diego, where there are a lot of good pho restaurants. This place is up there with the best of them! We shared an order of egg rolls and both got a small bowl of pho, sliced beef and brisket for me, meatballs and brisket for my husband. My husband and I loved the brisket the most, but everything was good! Good portion of meat, flavorful broth, and plenty of fixin's on the side! We finished everything! I think I'll get a large next time... it's just SOOO good! Though, two small phos plus an order of egg rolls was probably the perfect amount. We were full and didn't feel like we ate too much. There was plenty of parking and plenty of seats inside. The dining area reminded us of many other pho places we've been to. There was a big screen with a soccer game on, too. Arrived at noon on a Wednesday, a few tables were filled and by the time we left the place was full. Service was decent, a bit of a language barrier but it is a very straight forward Vietnamese menu so it wasn't a problem. Food came out fairly quickly. Food came out on a rolling, very squeaky metal cart. Hoisin, chili oil, siracha, sesame oil and soy sauce are on all the tables. The orders of pho contain plenty of meat. Egg rolls were full of pork too. Heaps of thai basil, cilantro, jalapeño and sprouts on a separate plate. We never received a paper bill but we saw others go to the front. Even with 10-12 tables occupied, the owner knew our order and gave us a total. We were unsure about tipping since I think the owner served us. But we gave one anyway. My one complaint is the bathrooms. It could give a corner gas station a run for the money. Gross! Wiped down but not clean. Grey sinks, splotches on walls, baby soap for your hands. We drove 15 minutes off I80 to find food that wasn't from a chain-restaurant. Overall a positive experience. read more

I stopped by here earlier today with my wife for lunch. It was a super rainy day in Grand Island and so I guess we weren't the only people with this idea as the Noodle House was packed! Whenever we got inside, every table was taken and there were other people in front of us. We weren't in a hurry though and so decided to wait and it ultimately took about 15 minutes before we were seated. The inside of Noodle House consists of both tables and booths and could probably seat 40-45 people if all of the seats were taken. It's walls were brick and my wife commented that it looked like an old Pizza Hut. For lunch on this afternoon my wife decided to go with the large chicken pho while I tried to go with the shrimp and pork vermicelli. However they were out of it that day and so I decided to go with the same as my wife, a large chicken pho. After only a short wait our food made it to our table. The bowls were large and filled with a good amount of noodles and some thin pieces of chicken. It's broth had a nice flavor to it and I took the opportunity to add the usual Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños and lime and also added some of the spicy stuff on the table. The end result of that is that I had a spicy and sour soup which was enjoyable. There were a ton of noodles in it too and by the time I had finished all of them I was absolutely stuffed. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both enjoyed our pho and it did its job of warming us up on the rainy day. read more

My sister and I love Pho, and since we are in Nebraska for work, we wanted to try Nebraska pho , so we found this spot that had some great reviews and even some colleagues of ours told us they loved it. So we wanted to take that challenge on. We came, and literally no one is wearing a mask, so that was kind of concerning to me, but after talking to the manager she said that we are very clean here and that all of her employees are tested and safe. So i pray that's true. Anyway, I ordered a large chicken & shrimp pho, extra spicy, and my sister got a large beef and chicken. We definitely loved it, the broth flavoring was wow, wow, wow, so fresh and delicious, and tasty I will definitely be coming back here the next time we are in Nebraska. Oh yum! My first taste of pho. It was 90° out and during a pandemic, but we masked up and went for takeout. It's quite a ways from I-80 but we thought we'd give it a shot as we passed through. We both had chicken pho. So so good! They put the hot broth in containers. (I guess if you live near by, they give you the broth cold and tell you to boil it. But we were traveling and couldn't do that.) There's a nice park nearby, so we went and found a table in the shade and slurped it down. We might have to stop again on a trip through. I do wish the staff had been masked, and that a customer somewhat near to me hadn't coughed into her hand, but I'm hoping my two masks protected me. read more

I have been in California, Arizona, amongst other places where there are good pho, married a Vietnamese guy who family makes very good pho, but this place hands down has the best pho I have ever had. Here's the breakdown: Food is definitely a 5 star. The famous pho soup is very rich and very fresh, all of the flavors that are supposed to be in this soup is in there. One time I brought the hubby in, he smell the soup and recognize how they were making it (trade secret that only only Vietnamese people knows) and he told me this is authentic. Well, it's really good. I usually go for the meat ball pho with rare meat on the side, I like to order is this way just so I could tell if the soup is hot enough to cook my rare beef and also how fresh the beef really are. Well, soup is boiling hot and the meat is very fresh. Portion wise, a small bowl is normally enough. There were a few occasions that I have to do a lot of physical labor that day, I ended up getting a large and the meat were piling on my plate and I get very full after that! But it was just soooooo good I always finish everything no matter what size I ordered hahahaha. Service, I will give it 5 star as well. They are closed on Monday and for the rest of the business hours, they always have the same crew working. The boss lady knows exactly what I want soon as I walk in. They can speak Vietnamese (well duh) Cantonese, Mandarin, English and Spanish (and maybe more but that's all I have heard them speak, so it was pretty impressive). They get pretty crowded and she gets real busy, but she managed the workflow with her team and make sure everybody is taken care of. Food prices is very reasonable as well, usually I can walk out with a full belly in less than $15 (this includes a 20%-50% tip depending what I am eating that day). Location & decor, I think if you look at the restaurant from outside, you think of it as a hole-in-the-wall. But if you consider that it's a Vietnamese restaurant where they use fish sauce to cook and could attract a lot of flies, this place blows my mind. Just because of how clean it is, I would give it 4.5 star. I think for the umteenth time that I have eaten here, I have only saw one fly. Everything was very clean and neat. All in all, the score average out to be 4.83 stars, but I am prejudiced since the food is really good and I have practically eat here at least once or twice a week, I am giving it a 5-star. This is our favorite place to eat in Grand Island. We always get the spring rolls with peanut sauce and the Vermicelli Noodle bowls. The chopped pork mixed with the raw veggies with the noodles and spicy is outstanding. Based on the amount of Asian families who are here regularly, the dishes must remind them of home. Appears to be a husband and wife who run it. Very nice people. The restaurant itself won't scream fine dining but food is excellent. This place is good, but not QUITE as good as the reviews make it out to be. (Although, to be fair, I'm Vietnamese and we are from Omaha so we've had a lot more to compare). We were in Grand Island from Omaha to spend the night to go to Island Oasis. After a long day at the waterpark, my half Viet (but Viet food loving) kids wanted to try Noodle house based on the reviews here. Service is very friendly, not necessarily attentive or proactive as I would have hoped. The plates got overcrowded on our table as more was given but not as many taken away. As other reviewers mentioned, this is a family business so their young daughter was seen wandering around the store- she's super cute and friendly. So down to the food... I got the Grilled Pork and Rice dish while the kids got the Pho. The portions were generous as it was two nicely-sized pork chops and plenty of rice. The pho was also a large portion. The pork was good, but not amazing, it could have had some more flavor. I also would have loved to have more garnishes and accompaniments to the dish as other Vietnamese restaurants include. Again, it was good but didn't blow my mind. Likewise with the Pho. It was good in flavor, but in my opinion, did not resemble true Vietnamese Pho. The broth was rich, but I'm pretty sure the flavor used was Chinese five spice which is not usually a Pho seasoning and clearly overpowering. Again, good flavor but I can't call it "Pho" with a good conscience. The prices were fair, but the only reason I'm giving it 3 stars instead of 4 is that the place was hotter than balls. It was 95 degrees that day and either the A/C wasn't working well or they didn't crank it up to save money. Would we be back? Maybe??? read more

We spent the night in Grand Island while returning from vacation. Found the Noodle House in Yelp, so, we tried it. I ordered a bowl of Pho. There are two sizes, huge and bathtub. My meat choice was brisket and tendon. The soup is fabulous, fresh garnish of cilantro, beans sprouts etc on the side. The condiments on the table are fish sauce and hot oil. Both required for the proper eating of these dishes. Danger! the hot oil is reeeeeaaaaalllly hot. I was cautious in using it and got a good dose of spice. Mrs L had the BBQ dish. It too is delicious, I couldn't resist sneaking a bite. The menu has few main items but the combinations of meat, fowl and fish provide a great variety of tastes. Oh my! I don't know even where to start! I thoroughly enjoyed this little gem of a restaurant. The pho soup with beef slices was so fresh and flavorful tasting. The spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce were mouth watering. The restaurant itself seems to be housed in an old Pizza Hut building and is clean with simple decorations.
