So I was with a white tall person and we got seated right away with our kids. I asked for - wait for it, yes, Gluehwein, oh how I loved their Gluehwein here! it has a white and red version. I tried both and they were both delicious. The Wienerschitizel here is solid. and Kaiserscheman pancakes were perfect. We also had boiled beef and beef goulash. For dessert of course strudel. The service was excellent. The white table linen was lovely. You definitely get the Eastern European food mixed in with German and Austrian. For this untrained eye, I couldn't tell it apart from southern German food or Hungarian food. It is just basically Eastern European and German to me. But for an American, this is a good thing. We are hitting the familiar territories here. Unlike some American restaurants, they don't rush you here. You can eat as little as possible and you get served just as much. I would definitely come back here. A very lovely joint by the Palace.

This filled #2. After dinner in a nearby beer garden, we wanted a sweet ending to this first day in Vienna. We were very happily greeted and had the pick of any table in the outside cafe. After viewing the bakery case and selecting a piece of strudel, it was delivered with a cappuccino within moments. It was our first of the trip and a great start to our mission. Very nice! - Tuna tartare - with avocado base. 3.5-4 stars. This is the dish that needs to improve in order for Mario to score a solid 5 star rating. The tuna was not bursting with color and it looked tired. The preparation is simple, although with a better grade tuna this dish could be tremendously improved. - Beef tartare - very good. The quality of meat is excellent and the overall execution of the dish is very good. I like the chili peppers on top, which definitely kick it up a notch. So far, I would rate this the second best beef tartare in Vienna, right after Le Salzgries. - Ravioli stuffed with ricotta in a sage-butter sauce. Very good to excellent. A solid 5 star dish - simple and not pretentious but very delicious. - Spaghetti Bolognese - made with veal. Excellent. The spaghetti are also freshly made and combined with an exquisite bolognese sauce, create a culinary symphony. 5 stars. - Gnocchi - with shrimps, spinach and vegetables in a curry sauce. Interesting dish. Not your typical Italian go to item on the menu but definitely worth a try. Gnocchi were cooked al-dents and that made all the difference in the world.
