We are very happy with Nooksack Valley Disposal. Employees are cheerful and efficient. The facilities are well maintained. Of course, Saturday morning on a sunny day it is going to be very busy so we try to choose another day to make the run to the dump. So grateful that we don't have to go to Ferndale or further to dispose of our trash. We drive by almost daily and the place is always neat and clean. Kudos to your hard work! read more

My husband & I went to Nooksack Valley Recycling Depot to drop off a load of various recyclables. When we arrived the only place to park was in front of the bin where you would drop off trash as all other spots near the recycling bins were taken by others dropping off their recycling. As soon as we parked our car and my husband got out to pull out cardboard from the trunk of our car, a woman from the office literally came running out and proceeded to scream like a banshee in my husbands face, yelling at him that you can't put your recycling in the trash bin! My husband hadn't even put one single thing in ANY of the bins and he told her I'm sorry ma'am but I was going to walk this over to the recycle bin before you came over here yelling at me. I then told this extremely rude woman that we have been a customer (not by our choice) for over 10 years so we know EXACTLY where all recycling goes! And you don't need to be so rude to us! I truly wish there was another choice for disposal/recycling service for our area because I would "dispose" of Nooksack Valley Disposal in an instant. Their drivers are all good & responsible but their office staff & customer service are the absolute worst! Zero stars for this horrible company. read more

It must be me. Every time that I called with a question, I encounter the same battle axe with an abrupt and discourteous tone. The drivers are excellent always cheerful and on time. Anything extra there is a $10 charge. There are more rules and regulations than anywhere I've experienced anywhere else. I am still new but hoping that there are other options. Our neighbors echo what I am saying. The last place that I lived was run by the mafia and was much easier and less expensive. Hopefully they set up shop in Lynden. read more

Their employees are unhelpful and rude. We took two loads to the Transfer Station and had to wait to unload for the first. The site is small and poorly organized. We arrived a few minutes past closing time with the second load hoping to ask for some flexibility. Before we could ask, a woman rushed over and proclaimed we needed to drive to Ferndale. I guess if they lose a payment because their computers are down and forget to input it in the computer when it is up and running it's not their fault but mine. If it's chaotic in their office when someone pays a bill and I lose the receipt 2 months later and cannot prove I paid it, it is also my fault. They don't have to prove anything, but I do. They can't take a few minutes to look in their written records for a copy because it is too much to ask for. Great customer service, NOT!!!! They can't even pick up a garbage can that they provide without charging you a fee. SMH. The ladies in there can give you attitude and act like Karens but the moment you raise your voice even a tad, they go nuts. Nice Job ladies, again, NOT!!!!! Have a great day. Expensive, nit picky and sloppy, but if you live in Lynden you have no choice, funny how that works. If the lid on your curbside bin isn't COMPLETELY closed they charge you an "overfilled bin" fee. We're not talking lid open and two bags sticking out the top. If the lid is cracked even a bit, $$$. Recycling pickup is every other week and no, they don't do mixed materials. If your cardboard isn't broken down to a flat enough state, they'll leave it lay. Put the wrong kind of plastic in the basket? Driver will throw it on the ground, not in the big blue trash bin sitting right next to it. Going to drop something off yourself? The gas to drive it to Ferndale is cheaper than their fees. There has to be an entrepreneur in Whatcom County that wants to crush this greedy little monopoly. read more

I was looking for my recycling schedule and noticed a bunch of negative reviews. Only been a customer for 25-30 yrs. Pretty simple, you put out your garbage or recycling on the correct day, they pick it up every time ... rain or shine or holiday. Dependable. If you forget to set our recycling, just drop off at their Birch Bay location, no questions asked. What's the problem? I say none, just another Reliable Lynden business. I really wish you could give zero stars on this. I was having constant issues with not receiving my invoices. We are always planning ahead with our money and want to make sure that we get bills paid on time. For the past year, I've been having to call every three months to ask why I haven't received an invoice and what my account balance is currently. Each time I question the address they have on file and it is ALWAYS wrong. Each time I ask them to please correct it. I just got off the phone with them this morning about the same issue only to have the customer service rep LAUGH at me and mumble to someone in the background about my call. Learn customer service and be polite. If I tell you the address you have on file is incorrect EVERY SINGLE MONTH... then maybe change it and learn not to be an asshole. read more

The worst garbage company I've ever dealt with, no customer service drivers are lazy. They are providing a service that I pay for(and not cheap) if you leave a cap on plastic bottle the won't pick up. If you close lid in a windstorm they won't un hook. If cans are too close they won't pick up. Ridiculous . If there wasn't a monopoly they wouldn't get my business. All my neighbors feel same way. Nothing but headaches for the last 6 years. North whatcom county really needs another option. This company has a monopoly and therefore no reason to do better. I've been a customer of 5 different garbage collection businesses over the years and they are by far the worst. Cant pay online. Been waiting weeks for a bin to be delivered and no way to get garbage to them... so it's piling up. Super strict rules on collection. My neighbor didn't get their bin picked up last week because it was on the sidewalk instead of street. Their staff on the office is next level rude. It's bizarre that they get away with it but they're the only show on town... I may just take my trash to SSC transfer station after work as needed. Skip nooksack if you can. read more

I have to agree with most of the comments on this site, unfortunately. They are VERY picky and VERY expensive. If you don't have your stuff the right distance from the garbage can, they won't pick it up. I have decided to stop recycling b/c of all the rules and reg's- which is very unfortunate. Sure wish we had a choice here in Lynden. On a kinder note- whenever I call (and can get through) the staff in the office has always been nice which is greatly appreciated. read more

No way to pay a bill online, no way to set up auto pay without a voided check, paying bills over the phone costs extra. They expect everyone to pay by mailing a check in with their bill. Very old fashioned. read more

The rudest employees ever, everything all other reviewers said is spot on. We take our recycles in ourselves due to the never ending and RIDICULOUS rules they have for recycle pickup. Plus the driver is a rude little jerk who rips down the road that is clearly posted 10 MPH. His boss is a bigger jerk when I called to complain. They all have this "we're the only game in town so we don't give a rat's ass" attitude. Plus, when we do drive in the 20 miles to drop off the recycling, which btw we are still being charged for whether they pick them up or not, because it's "all included", the bins at their depot are all jammed full, no, make that overflowing and spilling out onto the ground, so you have to try and cram them in. Oh, do I ever HATE this company. I keep holding onto the hope that either 1) this company is sold to people who care and provide some decent service, or 2) another competitor puts this company O.O.B. Like everyone else said. Expensive, nit picky, and rude. You have one option when it comes to a bin size. You can add another and double your bill, but that will most likely end up being screwed up too. While when you usually move, you get a shiny new bin NOPE. You better load the old one up and take it with you. I could understand if you've purchased the bin yourself, but they won't be picking up your garbage if you've done that. Good luck. I would give 0 stars...we've used NVD for 2 years now and probably every 3-4 weeks they skip our garbage and recycle for no reason. We always put them out on time and space them appropriately so there's no reason to skip our house. They even once switched our pick up day from monday AM to Thursday AM with NO notice! we Had no idea why our trash wasn't getting picked up so I called one day and they said they switched our p/u day (you couldn't have told us that before you switched it??) and when you call to ask "hey why didn't our trash get picked up today?" They tell you they have no communication with their drivers. What a joke! What dispatch doesnt have communication with their drivers!? And if they skip your house YOU have to bring your trash in to their facility and dump it yourself. So what if you work 40 hours a week? when are you supposed to come do that with the hours they have.. Let alone I'm pregnant and can't lift heavy things currently so there is no way I am heaving our giant heavy garbage can into my truck to come dump it. This place is a horribly ran business. You might as well just collect your garbage on your own and just take it to the dump yourself instead. read more

I had to choose a star but my real rating would be -10 ....I also agree that the customer service is one of the worst I have ever experienced. Office ladies are VERY RUDE and seems like such an inconvenience to them to assist. This morning I realized my bill was due tomorrow so in an effort to make sure my bill was paid on time I drove it in to drop it off... With all the chaos currently going on with Covid19 apparently you cannot enter the office.... Totally fine and understandable. What is NOT acceptable is the way I was greeted at my car window by the VERY RUDE LADY stating in a VERY unprofessional tone " WE PREFER YOU MAIL THESE AT THIS TIME AS IT IS NOT ESSENTIAL". Oh ok apparently paying my bill isn't essential!!!!??? This is not the first time I have received this kind of treatment from the office staff .....the women to be exact I have had one gentleman who was very friendly. If you don't like working there find another job you will enjoy or at least be professional especially during a time such as this.
