Driving up I was very impressed with how beautiful the building was! I was just picking up dinner to go, but would love to visit again dining in the restaurant. The decor and ambiance is so inviting. The gentleman who handed me my food was very kind. I ordered the steak oscar which came with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The steak was perfect medium rare and the shrimp were perfectly cooked. I also ordered the French onion soup which wasn't the best decision, as French onion soup is best consumed right out of the oven and not to go. But the flavor was great. NoPo was recommended to us so we decided to try it for lunch. Good thing we didn't want dinner because they close at 3PM. Apparently they used to offer dinner. Not enough business? It is located in an obscure little strip mall hidden in trees behind Target. We missed it on the first pass but it all worked out. My wife had a "California Toast," which featured "sourdough, guacamole, tomato, balsamic glaze, and seasonal fruit" She said it was quite good, heavily drizzeled with a very good balsamic reduction. Reasonable at $11.00. I ordered the fish & truffle chips. The chips were very good, with a generous truffle flavor. The fish started off good with a house-made batter that cooked into what was almost a shell. Interesting and good. The fish was advertised as Atlantic Cod. I'm no ichthyologist, so I don't know the variety but what I got was two pieces shaped to look like fillets. Basically the same fish that various bars offer pre-breaded/all-you-can-eat on Friday nights. Sportsman's Café in Deer River, for example. At $20/plate this choice is far inferior to what Anchor Fish & Chips in Minneapolis provides for $17.50. Too bad. I like good fish & chips. Here "good" stopped with the truffle fries and fish batter. Pleasant but not wonderful. We'll keep an eye for a dinner menu and give this place another try. read more

We have been going to Nopo since we moved back to GR. It has the most urban menu in town. Issac is a great chef and the drinks are trendy and good with one large ice-cube. Walking up to the building- it's adorable! The inside, very classy retro club look. There isn't very much seating considering the size of the building, and not much room to wait in line for carry out coffee orders. The barista (Matt) was very nice and gave a drink rec for my fiancé who doesn't drink coffee. We got the shaken maple espresso and the chai latte. Let's start with the chia- it was scrumptious! 10/10, one of the three best chai teas either of us had ever had! The coffee, 7/10, the coffee flavor was very good, but the maple flavor tasted like it was a flavor syrup instead of a real maple syrup (ya know that flavoring that has a kind of off "texture" when you drink it). I'd highly recommend this place for take away orders of drinks (but I can imagine seating is hard to get when they are busy), but I wouldn't suggest the shaken maple espresso. read more

Service and food was ok - was not happy that I was being charged a 20% gratuity onto my bill. Not only that, when I asked where that 20% was going to(hoping it was going directly to the server) it's going directly to the owner... On top of that, the receipt doesn't allow you to tip the servers directly through a card transaction so if you want to tip the servers, you need to have cash on hand only.. I found this very strange and unprofessional for a business to be doing and felt bad for the employees. read more

Came here on a snowy Sunday hoping to warm up with a nice latte. The place is stunning. I love the ambiance of it. Service was a little slow considering the place only had 2 other tables in it but they were busy working trying to get closed up for a couple weeks so maybe that was why. I ordered the Turkish - latte with ground cardamom and honey. It was delicious. Perfect amount of spice. I also ordered a waffle to snack on. Best kept secret in Grand Rapids! They are located in a beautiful building and share space with Center and Bala Spa. I ordered the Asian Chicken Salad which is grilled chicken, red, orange, yellow peppers, scallions, mushrooms, cucumber and crunchy noodles served on a bed of crispy napa cabbage. It was fresh & delicious but lacked the proper Asian dressing which would have elevated it from a good salad to an excellent one. My reason for only a 4 star rating. I also had a skinny latte light on foam which was great. I live 28 miles away but will definitely stop in again when I come to town and try one of their other menu items. I've been staying in Grand Rapids for the week and have visited this coffee shop twice. My first visit was great, me and my boyfriend ordered mochas and they were by far some of the best we've had. Since we enjoyed them so much we visited the shop again for two more. Unfortunately the second visit the mochas were no where near as tasty as the day before, the barista put way too much syrup in the coffee making it too sweet to drink. read more
