Dr. John Alexander Damergis Jr. has helped me enormously in getting the restful sleep a body and mind needs! My sister recommended him to me when I complained to her about how tired I felt every single day! Dr. Damergis scheduled a sleep study for me, which showed severe restless leg syndrome (RLS) 84X's/hr, with slight arousal each time, and sleep Apnea (cessation of breathing) 7 X's/hr. He prescribed medication for the RLS, and a CPAP for breathing assistance. Additionally, he had me keep records of the time I take medication, the time I go to bed, the time I think I went to sleep, times of waking during the night, and time I get up for the day. Looking over these records, he exclaimed, "You're a "Night Owl!", adding that if I try to fight Mother Nature, I will lose! He recommended a bedtime no earlier than 1:00 A.M. Following all his instructions has changed my life! I sleep well, wake ready for the day, and am now more productive and happy than I can remember! My father has been a patient of Dr Minette for many years, and the care and treatment he has received as his symptoms and diagnosis have become more complicated, has become shockingly poor. The clinic's inability to manage his care; for example, recently cancelling an appointment at the doctor's request (an appointment he had waited months for) only to offer the next available in OCTOBER. My mother spent :30 minutes on the line with the appointment setter (the number given to her when the appointment was cancelled), and was told no other option was available. A week later, when my dad's new internist raised concerns about the lack of diagnostic detail or care plan in his neurology file, I called to speak with his care team. The nurse I spoke to was lovely and explained we should never call appointments and only call them (something that is very confusing to follow considering the instructions they provide say something different) and also helped get my dad in to see the doctor four days later so his increasing challenges could be addressed. To my total disappointment, my mother returned from the appointment and said Dr Minette was dismissive, told her she should have figured out his current med mix was causing some of his issues by googling it herself, asked her where she had come up with the questions she was asking, seemed to be openly annoyed that I had voiced my concerns about the care he was receiving, and referred my mom to the Alzheimer's Association for any further questions. I work in geriatric care and know how difficult memory care and cognitive decline can be to treat, but nothing is more difficult than watching your loved one disappear and seeing their caregiver show a lack of empathy and curiosity about how they can try to help. My father has been resistant to changing his doctor, but this most recent series of incidents leaves us with little other choice. If you are looking for a provider who can support complicated presentations of Alzheimer's, I urge you to look elsewhere. read more

After waiting months for a neurology appt for my elderly mother who has been getting increasingly confused by the day, I had to cancel, as she had been admitted to the hospital. Upon calling, I was reprimanded repeatedly, as apparently my mom had cancelled previous appts. I had to explain to her that my moms mental decline was most likely the cause and that is why we were now taking over her care. Even after that, she had to once again repeat (as if I didn't hear her the first 2 times) that there was a history of cancelling appts and this can't continue. Thanks for your care as my mom's mental decline continues and she is currently in the hospital for an unkown infection. Top Notch medical care and compassion. read more

In our 2nd visit with Dr Sharif, he revealed he was the rudest doctor we've ever encountered. He acted bored and unconcerned. Couldn't answer most of our questions. He just didn't care. He put my husband on another drug without explaining why or what it would do. He walked out before we could ask anything about it. We'll never see him again. read more

My dad is 92 and we think he may have sleep apnea. He was referred to a neurologist, and finally got in in September 2025. The initial sleep study in November 2025 went fine. Staff were very accomodating and helpful. But then, he could not get results until January 29, 2026, when he had to come in, in person, to be told the results did not really measure because he was so restless. Then, he is supposed to come back on March 18, 2026 to get a home sleep study test, for which results will be provided to him in June 2026! Is this timeline crazy or what? He said he won't live long enough to find out if he has sleep apnea or not. We gave up and will work with another provider. read more

DO NOT send your loved one with dementia to this joke of a clinic. My mom was seen here 4 years ago and had seen 3 different doctors. Multiple tests and they just tried to pawn her off to another facility. Dr. Lux even told my father to have her go to a psychiatric facility. He made an appointment there and then found out that they don't even care for dementia patients. How bad does it have to be to send a patient of yours to another provider that doesn't even care for the prognosis that your patient has. Their customer service is absolutely garbage. We asked for her records to be transferred and they got very defensive. I told them we were getting a second opinion. After that first call we had to make 3 more to get them sent over to the new doctor. Noran should have their license revoked. If your loved one has dementia, they will absolutely waste your time and the little precious time that your loved one has. We finally found good care at Healthpartners. Where real doctors work. The doctors I have seen at this clinic are very good but the office staff are rude, insensitive and downright mean! I had a bit of a crisis last April or so with my medication and needed to see my movement disorder specialist. A nurse finally called me after three business days. I was annoyed and complained about their slow response. She responded by cancelling an upcoming appointment with my doctor without giving me a chance to think about what she was doing. I subsequently attempted on several occasions to call them back, and left messages through My Chart to attempt to book an appointment with my doctor. Staff at the clinic deleted all of my messages. I have not heard back from them since! I was left with no option other than switching from Noran to Struthers for my movement disorder specialist. A woman claiming to be an office manager of sorts called me on the same day the nurse had contacted me and berated me over the phone for complaining about the way I was treated, but offered no way to resolve the issue, and I have not heard from her since. My sleep specialist is at this clinic and I will continue to see him since he is really great, regardless of the treatment I am getting from the staff. It is of course possible that the staff will prevent me from booking any more appointments with any of the doctors there. I have also been cut off from my supposed care team at this clinic. I can see why the ratings for this clinic are so low! read more

Ive struggled with migraines for over 3 years. I was hoping to find some sort of reason why I got them but I didnt. at first my doctor was nice but people in the office were rude especially over the phone. Im not going to sit and take a med for months if it doesnt work. I tried 3 meds and none of them worked. After I said this last one wasnt doing anything and in fact made then worse to the point i was in the ER they would not help me anymore. They put in a referal to someone else when that takes months and now I will be helpless again without meds for months. I get migraines over 4x a week. I have no doubt the physician I see is top notch. However, the practice is in the dark ages when it comes to online medical records. I can't even see all my test results or office visit notes online. The last 3 doctors I saw went in this order, 1st wouldn't have a conversation or look me in the eyes & kept trying to make me take oxytocin and other opiates yet wrote I'm the drug addict in my file. 2nd told me to smoke weed & jerk off. 3rd wouldn't listen to anything I said & said "take the pill or die" then refused to refill my prescription or give me a follow up appointment. read more

Serious communication breakdown. I was referred here by my neurologist to get back on track with my sleep meds so I could maintain my seizure control. The Doctor, or more precisely the P.A. insisted I take a Sleep medication that I simply couldn't afford along with a Behavior medication that I had a reaction to in the past. I did do 2 sleep studies here and by the 2nd one I was sleeping much better while taking their expensive Sleep medication, but as I expressed the cost burdens the Doctors and P.A.'s answer was to "Discontinue the expensive Sleep Med" and increase the Behavior med, the one I was concerned about having a reaction to. I had filled out a tier variance form with my insurance and was given some cheaper Sleep medication suggestions, but apparently these were not taken into consideration by the P.A. When I called less than 10 days later to update that I was having similar symptoms/reaction to the Behavior medication they told me to follow up with my PCP. What is my PCP supposed to do about medication's Noran Physician's ordered? This office never updated my patient portal with the 3 medication's they started me on including a dosage increase. They need to get their house in order if they want to continue to be considered the best in the Midwest. -MJG read more

Needed a quick procedure/exam, waited an extensive time in the waiting area before I was seen by the provider. She didn't really talk much and didn't seem to be interested in answering my questions. I was a bit nervous for the procedure and like to talk to help ease my mind and stay distracted, so that was sort of a let down. The reception staff seemed nice though. The space was very welcoming and open. Parking is nice and free too, if you can find a space in the ramp. read more

Nursing staff and MRI team is outstanding. Beyond that the quality of care is zero! Testing that was needed never followed up on, inaccurate notes, no follow up for conditions. Billing is terrible and NO help for disability or income restrictions. They are part of Allina but because they use their own billing system there is no help! Horrid. Staggering levels of incompetence. I have been having ongoing headaches and ringing in my ears for the past two years. It was annoying, but manageable, till the last six months. Since then, they have been getting steadily worse, with increased frequency, and throbbing pains in the back of my head (similar to a migraine, but without the light sensitivity). Then I came down with vertigo; I was at my breaking point. The first place my doc could get me in, and take my insurance, was Noran. The doctor at Noran asked a lot of questions, that seemed random to me, but as I have never been to a nuerologist, I figured this might be normal. At least twice (possibly more) I mentioned the pain in the back of my head. Instead, the doctor was convinced that there was something wrong with my sleep and wanted me to do a sleep study, though they didn't explain what it was or what it would do (my ignorance seemed to annoy the doctor). When I asked about the pain in my head, they said they would write me two prescription for meds (which I would not fill nor take). The PT they wanted to send me to for vertigo could not see me for two weeks. I reached out to a friend, who is a PT, and it turns out, she did the specialized treatment for vertigo, and could see me that day. She checked my eyes, and could see I had classic inner-ear vertigo, but what caught her attention was my head movement (or lack thereof). She felt the back of my head, and said, my C1 and C2 (the top two vertebra) were jammed in and locked. As she is not a doc, she can't say if this caused the vertigo or headaches, but after my first session with her, the pain in the back of my head was gone, and the ringing in one ear had subsided, back to the levels it was two years ago. I can now move my head and neck, and my vertigo is almost gone. Thinking back on my appointment with Noran, I can't tell if it was ignorance, apathy, or just that the doc had gone down a predetermined path of treatment for me. Or worse, were they just milking the system with unnecessary tests that would prove inconclusive. I suppose I should not judge too harshly, as I have not had the sleep test, and perhaps if I do have one, it might reveal something. However, I can't get past the fact that I brought up the pain in the back of my head, and that it was never even checked to see if there was something off. I have canceled all follow up with Noran; I have just paid them for the visit, which I hope will be the last contact I will ever have with them again. read more

My experience at the Noran Clinic was horrible. I was shook by the way the Dr. Dang , Neurologist, talked to me and treated me. I asked him not to be rude, rolling his eyes at me, and scolding me like a child because I didn't fill out the forms correctly or to his satisfaction. I gave him all the information I missed because the sheets were stuck together and I didn't see that page I missed. He yelled at me and said we were done and he didn't want to see me again. I never experienced this kind of doctor to patient abuse ever. He was a bully and scary. I received a certified letter stating due to breakdown of patient and doctor they withdrawal all further medical care with me. All because I stood up for myself and made a complaint about this Dr. DANG. I feel Noran Clinic needs to look into their doctors closer to give them extra training. He was not prepared for our appointment as a new patient. All my records were there already because I have been a patient there for years ahead of him. My doctor left the clinic so i had to see a new doctor. Unreal and unfair treatment. Patients should be able to talk about there experience without being kicked out of the clinic with a claim it is the patient 's fault. Noran Clinic is not what it use to be!!! I have never had such a bad experience at a medical facility. Had an mri in October, and my emails and phone calls were ignored by my doctor and his team for three months in terms of getting the results. I finally asked for a referral elsewhere. Billing is another joke. Completely incompetent. Had to get my lawyer involved because they had no interest in fixing their problem they just kept sending me bills for denied claims by the wrong insurance. read more

I do not and will never recommend Noran Neurology to anyone. They are unorganized and uneducated regarding their patients care. Their consults have a business approach verses patient centered care. It feels centered on the amount of patients and tests to be scheduled versus adressing reason for consult and finding an end result/plan. I would suggest patients create a relationship with their family doctor in Gen medicine. They are knowledgeable (if not more) in this specialty, are able to order the same tests and will follow up in a timely matter at half of the cost. If there is something definite of concern do NOT go to Noran Neurology. Yesterday was the second experience in two years and it was awful AGAIN. Three month waiting period to be seen. During my first visit a patient actually had a seizure in the lobby and staff (at a Neurology clinic) were not trained on how to respond. When I met with the MD she had no idea why I was there. Had done no review of my chart and had no knowledge of autoimmune diseases attributed to ANS and CNS conflicts. (I wanted a Neurologist's insight on my Sjogrens/Lupus impacting me going back to med school) She had no idea, was not educated on Sjogrens and its effects on the nervous system. Instead wanted to discuss sleep studies which she didn't even have copies of. Waste of time. A YEAR later after I HAD A STROKE, it was recommended to see Neuro. I waited another THREE months to be seen. This time I did my research on WHO to see. Made SURE she knew about strokes. Went to a different location. After an hour wait in the lobby, no nurse roomed me, it was the receptionist. MD AGAIN had NOT read my chart prior to arrival and her initial question was WHY I transferred from the other Neurologist within Noran. (Sleep study to Stroke/EMG/EEG Specialty....ummmm???). Most of the time was spent asking me what tests were done and meds I was taking. (All in my chart) Not about symptoms or how I could proactively prevent another stroke. She was not interested in seeing the actual medical record I had brought with me this time via laptop because I (correctly) assumed they would not have it readily available. She did a neurological physical test (which can be done by a family physician), told me we should start a Statin, continue annual imaging and follow up with her. Hope this same advice she gave me saves someone a trip to Neuro ;) read more

I have been to the Chicago Ave location 3 times, and each has gone well. My neurologist specializes in Restless Leg Syndrome, and was very knowledgeable and easy to talk to. He was listening closely and making notes the whole time, then I got a copy of all this, along with RLS information when I left. The notes also re-capped our treatment plan. I did have to wait 3 months for an appointment-but this is a function of the demand for this kind of specialist! I'm sure the physician shortage will worsen, unfortunately. I also was offered telemedicine visits, and my lab draw appts are easy and quick. I recommend this Clinic. read more

Terrible experience. The doctor seemed disinterested in my symptoms and my responses to her questions. I was asked to complete extensive paperwork which she never bothered to look at. Then was told that my health issues, including unexplained neuropathy and facial numbness, warranted psychological, and not medical, consult.. yes, I was told it was all in my head. Luckily, I did not listen. I was able to pursue further help at Mayo where I recieved a medical diagnosis and treatment plan. Now, 14 months after my visit to Noran, I recieved a bill stating I owed a co-pay. Checked my bank records and I paid it on the day of service. They are incompetent and clearly have no clue. The worst excuse for medical care. If you're seeing a neurologist, you probably have significant concerns. I was prepared with medical history and details of most recent episode. I was barely allowed to speak, only answer a few limited questions. My exam consisted of taking a couple steps on my toes and heels. Dr Shariff was on his feet ushering me out the door in less than 15 minutes. Following visit to PT ( courage Kenny) confirmed he did not do basic screening and his dismissive diagnosis was not supported during PT evaluation. His poor medical care puts the entire clinic at risk. Also, my demographic information was entered wrong-that should have been a hint that quality isn't High priority. read more

I'm a long time patient with Noran Neurological Clinic and treated for several conditions. The staff, reception and scheduler are very pleasant and efficient. I've followed Dr Orehek of late to the Plymouth office. She does Dysport injections for me and migraine care. I must mention the wonderful care from Dr Dorn, my first physician in the clinic about 2 decades ago. Both looked beyond my chronic pain disorder to identify and focus treatment on the underlying conditions. From the sleep lab to the imaging dept, care from nurse practitioners as well as the licensed doctors and referrals for patients physical therapy, all have given me class A care. They've helped me cope with a set of invisible neurologic illnesses. read more

After reading a few very strong reviews I thought I choose this place to see a neurologist about psychogenic seizures as part of PTSD. I was really looking for a referral to a good Somatic Experiencing practitioner (See: Dr. Peter Levine, Dr. Bessel Van Der Kolk). I was also seeking a deeper understanding of how to switch from the sympathetic nervous system in the trauma state back into the autonomic nervous system (the natural resting state). I needed to have a technical discussion with someone who understood the nervous system and could contextualize my symptoms. Sadly, I was so utterly disappointed with this appointment with Dr. Sarif and appalled a neurologist could be so uninformed about this condition, while also treating me as if I was insane, ignorant, and beneath him. I spent only 15 minutes in his office. He went through a long series of questions very abruptly and would interrupt my answers if he wasn't satisfied with it. I had to push back really bluntly to advocate for myself and emphasize what was important. He ignored most of the factors that were essential to the situation. My symptoms were treated with harsh skepticism as if I was lying or delusional. He refused to take information from an SE-certified practitioner of the Rosen Body Method I had seen in the past or note that qi gong had also been extremely beneficial. He said his only role was to conclude I didn't have epilepsy, which I already knew, then send me to a psychiatrist to get anti-anxiety or anti-depressant medication when I have no history of either of those conditions- far from it! I think a person like myself, who is extremely motivated, has healthy emotional balance, and is far from anxious should NEVER be recommended these medications. The doctor even pressured me into it as if I didn't have a choice, which is outright EVIL in medical practice. After his conclusion I restated more clearly that I had been through 8 years of healing and have resolved the vast majority of any emotional problems and life-skill limitations associated with PTSD. I was looking for insight and referrals for the remaining physio/neurological symptoms (the hardest part). He had no interest in this and stated a neurologist doesn't work with PTSD, it's a "psychiatric disorder". To suggest PTSD has nothing to do with the nervous system is profoundly ignorant and dangerous. There has been over 60 years of revolutionary discovery into neurological-based methods of approaching PTSD. This is what Somatic Experiencing is, you work with experiences in the body as the gateway into healing. The nervous system deals with fight, flight, freeze (etc) and all of this is well-established. This doctor acted as if everything he was unaware of from under his rock was considered pseudoscience, and he rejected anything I provided as worthless. I'm a functioning, well-researched individual. I don't expect congrats or praise, just basic recognition and openness to what I'm saying as a regular human being. I was treated as if I was insane and should have been medicated, then sent off to a permanent psych residence. The fact that this condition is treated as if there is no treatment for real healing and can only be disguised under medication is disturbing. Any person with more unresolved trauma and deeper life-skill limitations could easily be severely hurt by this experience, being robbed of any dignity and treated as irreparable damaged goods. I can't imagine what an awful world that would be. The good news is that's NOT the world we live in! We had an apt. for our mother to get assessed for memory issue as recommended by her primary care Dr. When we arrived they seemed to have no idea why we were there, even though I told them when making the apt. I have been a patient of Dr Friday in the sleep clinic for 2 years and am NEVER GOING BACK. I think she does an extreme disservice to her patients and I am concerned that they may take her advice and not seek the real answers to their medical problems. Yes, I am crabby and irritable but you would be too if you haven't had a decent nights sleep in months. I had to go to a FACEBOOK page on Periodic Limb Movement Disorder and get answers to my questions Dr Friday should have known. Let's go back - I was a patient of Dr Lux, also at Noran, for years. He was monitoring my severe cervical stenosis and spondylosis. In 2012 a bone spur grew into my spinal cord C5/6 and did damage - Mylomelicia. Upon further research I discovered on my own that this probably is what made my PLMD significantly worse. Dr Friday had access to all of my MRI's because they were all done at NORAN CLINIC but not sure she even looked at them. By 2017 when I made an appointment in the sleep clinic I had already under gone 2 surgeries. One for my neck and another for my knee - back to back. Dr Friday gave me a sleep medication that cost more than my car payment $600 a month. She also gave me a couple of other medications but I was still tired all the time. By 2019 I had 2 more surgeries - this time for my thyroid and a knee replacement and by now I'm really not sleeping well and beyond exhausted. So count -4 surgeries in 4 years. This time Dr Friday suggested I go see a psychiatrist. I asked her for a referral to the Mayo Clinic Sleep Study center as I heard they do a comprehensive evaluation. SHE TURNED TO ME AND SAID NO. THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR YOU THAT I CAN'T. I had to go to my primary care doctor for a referral to the Mayo. That doctor ordered blood work. Turns out all those surgeries did a number on my IRON LEVEL. I'm anemic. But I guess going to a psychiatrist is going to help with that!! I would strongly urge you NOT TO GO TO DR FRIDAY. Get a complete physical and blood panel to see what could behind your fatigue before going to their sleep clinic. read more

Worst medical experience I've ever had. Treated poorly and unprofessionally. Anywhere else would be better.

Had virtual visit with Dr. MInette last year. First she thought I had occipital neuralgia, but needed an MRI. Then she calls my rheumatologist and tells him that I should have a temporal artery biopsy the same day I saw this doctor. She should not have contacted my doctor without discussing this matter with me first. I continue to have nerve pain around the neck and ear on the side where the "failed biopsy was done". I have send 3 messages to her - by phone and in person at the clinic - I get some song and dance about the "care team" are behind. Behind what? THEY CERTAINLY DON'T CARED ABOUT THEIR PATIENTS (FORMER). THEY HAVE MANY BAD REVIEWS. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND GOING TO NORAN CLINIC. read more

As a retired Health Care executive I am amazed to find that the Noran clinic is unable to direct any calls except emergent calls due to a system outage. My call needs are important but not emergent, but it's delaying care. Yesterday ( Thursday) the message was to call back later. Today the message is call back Monday. The portal isn't working for messaging either. No apologies. What a way to run a health care business. You all need to focus on the patient need and have a back up system in place. read more

I won't go into the details because it seems people writing the reviews want to tell their life stories. The doctors, NPs and PAs are fine, but the support staff is inept. Scheduling, billing, insurance liaisons, care management team, etc. are rude and uniformed, and the departments contradict each other. I like the doctor and PA I am dealing with, but interactions with the support staff are stressful, so I will be looking for a new clinic. read more

This experience is based on the Minneapolis clinic. I am the caretaker for my elderly mother who needed to see a doctor for worsening symptoms. Her appointment was canceled the day before for the second time, causing her much distress. We got the deflection and excuses noted in other reviews. Trying to reach them this month was like trying to contact someone in the Witness Protection Program. Their answering service had told me they had no on call doctor, were told NOT to take a message, referred me to 911, and told me call back to reschedule. I did so over the next two days, but I just got the same number for the answering service. After reporting my experience with Noran to my mother's primary care physician, we were referred to another provider, which is what I suggest you do. Remarkably, Noran calls me today, 12 days after the appointment they cancelled, asking if I wanted to reschedule: of course I did not. 12 days lag is a clear indication that they aren't concerned about my mother. Look at the other reviews for Noran. I see eight one-star reviews on this page alone. I see two good reviews. That's an 80% failure rate for this sample, but one review gives four stars because Noran referred the reviewer to someone else -- that seems like a low bar for a positive review. The bad reviews are so numerous that I suspect the good reviews could be from the staff of Noran. Of course this is just one experience, but it certainly seems to be a common experience. Noran has caused harm to me and my family; I wish them ill. read more

Don't waste your time with Noran Neurological Clinic. The Lake Elmo location at least is a hot mess. The care team is atrocious. The neurologist said I needed Botox injections for migraines, but they weren't able to administer them as they are in contract negotiations with my insurance company. I saw the a neurologist on 8/11, and they did absolutely nothing whatsoever to help me find an alternative solution. I had a follow up with a PA six weeks later, and no help was offered or alternative meds. They told me to find another provider to get the Botox injections and were of no help getting the injections. I had to do all the work of calling around to find another site. The care team told me to go to the ER, and I am immunocompromised, also, why have a neurologist if they want me to go to the ER? Their patient portal doesn't work, and they are clueless and never got it fixed. Calling in for "help" was a complete run-around and the nurses just made excuses and are completely incompetent. I received a bill for an added fee I was not informed about in advance. When I called to speak to someone about this, to have it explained to me, it took months of repeated calls to actually speak to someone who could. The person in the business office who finally spoke to me was so rude and condecending, would not listen, did not believe what I said and declined to negotiate. Poor business practices! read more

Quite sure that Noran Clinic has the worst patient portal possible. 30 - 40 seconds for pages to load. Not easy to use. Errors like this: 502 - Web server received an invalid response while acting as a gateway or proxy server. I've resorted to using USPS to deliver information to my doctor. read more

Unwilling to listen because "I look fine" and appear "healthy" at a young age in my middle twenties. Do yourself a favor and do not come here. They were very suspicious of my chronic pain, which is a horrible way to treat a patient who is suffering through what is supposed to be the best time of your life. My husband had an appointment for Monday morning at 8am at the Noran Neurological clinic. He left home 1.75 hours prior to his appointment because we live 70 miles away. He had been given the incorrect address so he arrived at the Plymouth location. When he realized the error he called and left a message and they texted him back the correct location. He drove to the correct location which was downtown Mpls. He arrived at 8:05. The person who checked him in told him he was too late and would need to reschedule even though he had made every effort to arrive on time AND it was their mistake. She was not helpful or apologetic. He left. He did not and will not reschedule. read more

I have been to this clinic 3 times now, and have had a great experience each time. Dr. Sethna was great, very informative and helpful. Also, Dr. Dodie Russell is probably the nicest doctor I have EVER seen. Extremely understanding and helpful, explained everything going on, and gave several different options for what I could do next. A seriously fantastic clinic. read more
