I needed some siding on my house repaired connected to some wind damage, and it was too high up for…read moreme to consider doing on my own. One other handyman had looked at this for me, but their solution didn't hold up, so i was in search of a permanent fix. I have grown fond of using Yelp's "request a quote tool" to easily put out a project request to several businesses that serve my area, and find it very easy to communicate and get quotes in this manner. Unfortunately for the tool, but fortunately for me, I may not need to request a quote again for awhile, because I am just going to hiring Chris and Chase at Carolina Custom Home Improvements to do any work I have moving forward! Chris got back to me within an hour of my quote request, with which I also submitted a pair of photos of the damage. He took a guess at the issue, provided two likely solutions, a price quote based on what we could see in the photos, and was able to come do the work within just a few days. I appreciated the direct manner he answered, and his sense of urgency. On arrival, him and Chase were easy to talk with, and got right to work diagnosing the issue. Due to some cracking on the siding, they would need to replace some of it to permanently fix things. They also noticed some other damaged siding, offering to fix that while they were at it. I agreed, and they set to work calling suppliers. They were able to not only find the same manufacturer, but the correct color! Obviously, the new siding is not faded, so you can tell it's new, but that is totally expected. Once they obtained the materials (with no markup, giving me the receipt directly) they set to work. This siding is 25 feet in the air, and a hard job on a long ladder. They got it done in around 90 minutes. It fits flush and looks great, see my photos. The job site was left clean, and they even tamped down the holes in the soil made by the ladder and their feet on the soft ground. I'm happy to use them again in the future based on this work, and they are knowledgeable on several subjects. They'll at least be my first call. Phil conceived and executed a beautiful design, and even put in a bathroom which we thought we couldn't afford, but he figured out a way. It's been exactly a year since Phil completed the work. This review is way overdue, but at least I can report that the work has stood up well. Phil did all the work pictured except that the floor was installed by the flooring supplier. There was just one thing we were unhappy about (the stairs), and since it was probably a communication issue, we negotiated that we would pay for the supplies and Phil would provide the labor. Phil is very nice and very easy to work with. I would definitely hire him again.

I could not be more pleased with the excellent work of Scott Riley and his crew in our recent…read moreremodel of our 30 year old home. We completely updated 3 bathrooms, including a major change in the master bath; and updated 4 bedrooms as well with new paint, carpet, and updated wiring, etc. Every surface in the upstairs was changed. We had 3 estimates for the work plan and Scott was not the highest or the lowest. But Scott is the best builder I have ever worked with, and we have built more than 5 homes over our marriage. He went over our needs and specifications, gave us a complete price with recommendations for how we could save costs if we chose to do so, and built a detailed schedule for completing the work (before carpet) in only 7 weeks. He even included costs to us if we caused any delays in his scheduling of his crew. He was here almost every day to oversee the work; was rigorous with the schedule; and completed the work on time. Scott is a very detailed person and the details have shown up in the tile in all the baths that is perfect, the paint that was perfectly applied, and all the woodwork that required careful replacement, cutting and installation. We had to make a few adjustments along the way but these were handled well and with good counsel as to the choices we needed to make. I will add that we used Joanna McGann as our designer (JDM Design Group) and she helped us make all the selections of paint, plumbing fixtures, lighting, etc. and she and Scott were a wonderful pair to help make this a successful remodel. My wife and I cannot be more pleased with how this all turned out. I highly recommend Scott Riley for any remodeling work that you need to consider and plan.

We were looking for someone to just do the framing for new deck and I would finish (deck approx 28'…read morex 36' with 2 sets of stairs). Tru-Bilt Construction (Tony) was super responsive to my initial call and within a day or two, came to check out project idea and make bid. Was best bid and most professional out of multiple and we went with Tru-Bilt. I only had rough plans for the deck we wanted and I needed to get the permits since I was finishing the deck. Tony took my rough plans and redrew to meet permit requirements as I am not a professional. He also calculated the lumber needed for the ENTIRE project, made the order for me, and worked with me so I could pay for lumber myself. Permits went smooth and they began as soon as they were approved. Tony and his crew arrived when planned and gave me regular status updates. He worked well with us on design changes as we went, patiently explained details of his build, and the best ways to move forward considering design changes. He also provided design ideas for railings and a sound barrier/privacy wall that I was finishing myself. Tony was super willing to share his knowledge and expertise even walking me through step by step how to lay down decking edges, deck board, etc. according to his pre-planned design to ensure it looked top notch and high end professionally built (I quickly discovered it was best to video when he was dropping build knowledge). From pouring of footings to fully framed deck, they were done in approx 4 days (not considering permit waiting time, footings dry time, etc). Wonderful company for DIY'ers who do not have time or energy to do the "heavy lifting" and want to do some of their own work.
