I've been a patient here for mammograms for a few years now. It's definitely a challenge to get an appointment. I made an appointment today and the hold time was 34 minutes. My call was placed at 11:59 a.m.. I have waited for less and more time than that in the past. Like other reviewers, I have been forced to hang up and try again when I wasn't able to hold for long enough. I want to give 2 stars as the employees were great but I can't. The management or whoever is limiting having additional employees to service people is very sad. My appointment time was for 6:30 PM. I showed up 15 min ahead of scheduled, I completed the online forms the night before as they requested / suggested but I left at 8:45 PM (over 2 hours) when there was just 2 patients prior to me. First time visiting this location the staff at window 1 was very rude. I asked for a manager she stated that they did not have one. Which was a lie two other staff said they actually had one. She should Not be allowed to talk to anyone the way she talk to me. Very rude she has blonde hair older Mexican Lady with a ponytail. I was rushing! Mama had to be at appointment at 7:30am. I went to bed super early so I would have her there. I get up shower and I'm ready 6:39am! BC I'm like my Grandfather! Shouts out to him! Always on time. People say you not on CPT time are you? Ok back to the subject at hand. I wasn't sure where we were going! So, I'm ready to rock n roll! My Mother 77 years old. Always says she is on on time for church and her hair appointment. Not even work when she worked! ‍! So I'm clam bc she isn't ready. I think I figured out the racket here. I was sent to get x-rays at NorCal imnaging due to having a car accident, was told that with no fault insurance, my auto insurance would cover it. I was told at the front desk that I needed a "medpay release form" from my insurance company in order to process my request. My insurer says they don't have such a form and NorCal has to call them. Norcal says they don't call, they need the form. NorCal Imaging also said I could pay out of pocket and get reimbursed by the insurance company. When I called my insurance company they told me not to do that because often times the reimbursement from the insurance company is less than they would get if I pay out of pocket. So there you have it. That's how they get more money from you for their services. read more

My doctor sent me to NorCal imaging to get a CT back in March. She initially wrote the order for the Walnut Creek location as I was living there at the time. I had a lot going with work, family commitments, and preparing to move. I moved back to Piedmont a month ago and decided to go to the Oakland location since it's 10 mins from where I live. I've never had a bad experience at the Walnut Creek location so I was expecting this location to be the same caliber. Boy, was I wrong! Unlike the WC location which answers the phone in 5-10 mins, this location keeps me on hold for 15+ mins!! I called no fewer than at least 15 times since Friday 6/6/2025 and after the 15 min mark, I gave up. When I finally got someone on Monday, she said 1+ hour hold times are the norm. I wasn't nice about it and told her this was unacceptable. About an hour later, I call again and asked to speak to a manager. The person on the phone said the manager wasn't available but sent a message to someone to call me back by the end of the day (Monday 6/9). I never heard back so I called again the next day (Tuesday 6/10) at 8:01 am thinking they wouldn't be busy compared to the afternoon. Again, nobody picked up the phone. Yesterday (Wednesday 6/11) I finally am able to speak to a live person. I asked to speak to a manager and again told they weren't available and said manager knows about the hold times. She transferred me to a specific person to schedule the CT. He was able to get me in at 1 pm the next day. I was hopeful my experience in person would be better but sadly I was wrong. I arrive around 12:50 pm and had to complete some forms. I turned them in and paid my copay. At 1:25 pm I realized I hadn't been called back. When I went to the front desk to ask how much longer I'd have to wait, she said my appointment was at 1:45 pm. I told her had to rearrange my schedule to accommodate this appointment because I was told 1 PM. If the guy said my appointment was at 1:45 pm, I would not have rushed to finish important work and took my dog sitting client out at 12:30 instead of moving it to 12 pm. The person was not very apologetic though the tech came out while I was at the front desk. My tech, Pam, was great. Very friendly and efficient. I'd give her 5 stars and she's the reason this review is a 2 rather than a 1 star review. As I was leaving the CT room, she said the disc would be ready in 10 minutes. I go back to the waiting room and after that time I go to the front desk to request a disc to send to my doctor. Front desk person says CT discs take longer. Wtf!!! Again, no apology for the wait and my being told it would be ready in 10 mins. I had work I needed to do and I wasn't going to wait as a result of THEIR incompetence. I plan to pick the disc up another day but after I pick it up, I will NEVER EVER go back to this location!! If the manager is aware of the long hold times, they need to 1) hire more staff and 2) train their staff to answer the phone within 5 mins. I have worked in healthcare for 6 years, with 2 of those years as a receptionist. As a receptionist, I NEVER EVER kept a patient on hold for 15+ mins. My doctor said she's noticed NorCal imaging - particularly the Oakland and Pleasanton locations - are going downhill. I can't speak to the Pleasanton one but somebody from the WC location needs to train the Oakland employees how to better manage their clinic. Next time I need imaging, assuming I'm still living in Piedmont, I will ask her to send me to John Muir in Berkeley or Sutter in Oakland. If those 2 facilities don't have a test she wants and NorCal does, then I'd go to WC or possibly San Leandro. While I don't think NorCal imaging as a whole is bad, my experience at this location was so frustrating and infuriating that I don't think it's worth returning. My daughter was assigned to this location to get a scoliosis x-ray. While many at the front desk were initially helpful, the manager (I believe her name was "Dani"--though I'm sure of spelling, suddenly declared that there was no valid contract and that this x-ray was unable to be performed at this location. After 3 hours figuring out that the contract did in fact exist, they finally had my daughter fill out paperwor at 5pm just before they closed for the day, then suddenly declared that there was no radiologist at the facility, and that they didn't have the equipment to do this x-ray. Very strange that Dani figured this out after 3 full hours, rather than letting us know this upfront, it was all very fishy. I would never recommend going to this facility. I would give zero stars if I possibly could. Avoid this location, and avoid Dani. read more

I had an x-ray appointment for the ROTC process scheduled through this location. After 3 hours of waiting, where the manager, Dani, refused to treat me because they didn't have the correct contract (which was a lie), they turned me away because they apparently didn't have the correct equipment (also a lie). I came here with a friend who needed to get an X-ray before an MRI would get approved. The space is clean and the attendees are attentive. We didn't wait long and even though it was 90 degrees outdoors, they had AC and a wonderful garden area outdoors. I am someone who YELPS a LOT, and if it was an ugly or unpleasant experience, I would be the first one to say so. It isn't. And is not. I met Sophy who is a delight. She processed us quickly and efficiently. We had parking right out front when we arrived and I'm so glad to post a positive review. read more

I had an MRI scheduled here for 12:30pm. The text reminder said check-in was at 12:30, but when I called ahead to confirm how long the appointment would take (since I had another appointment across town), I was told it would last one hour and I'd be done by 1:30pm. I arrived 30 minutes early to complete paperwork, yet by 12:40 I still wasn't seen. When I asked the receptionist Marissa, I was told my actual appointment was at 1:00pm and I wouldn't be finished until 2:15pm,well past the time I needed to leave. On top of the confusion, the receptionist was rude and dismissive, taking no accountability for the misinformation I had received. I did everything right to confirm my appointment, yet because of their poor communication, I was given the wrong information and ended up having to cancel my next appointment. Yet another 1 star review that should be actually be 0. They simply do not answer their phone so that patients can make an appointment. When I did manage to get an appointment after many weeks of calling, the morning that I showed up, the front desk staff informed me the procedure was pre-approved through the wrong (inactive, expired) insurance. She disclaimed responsibility for trying to help me resolve the improperly billed/authorized insurance and told me to go figure it out with my doctor. Terrible everything. I'd rate it negative if yelp allowed me. My wife had an appointment for an MRI at 11am. Arrived 15 minutes early as directed & didn't get taken back until 11:50am. Didn't finish until 1:30pm... That's not even the worst part. The MRI required the dye contrast of which they mistakenly failed to put it in her vein. It wasn't until she told the lady that it really hurt that the lady stopped and brought another nurse to confirm it wasn't going in her vein. Now my wife's arm is badly bruised and in severe pain. Still, not the worst part... Prior to going back, she told them that since they were running late she would like to go back to the car to breastfeed her baby, of which she did. She read and signed the waiver regarding contrast dye and nursing mothers, which stated there is generally no risk. However, 2 hours later after she got off the table the lady asked to clarify what she meant when she said she was going to breastfeed the baby. That statement is pretty cut and dry even for the dullest bulb in the box. She then proceeded to tell my wife she is supposed to wait 24 hours before breastfeeding after using contrast dye... My wife reiterates the waiver that she was presented. The lady proceeds to say regardless of the waiver, their practice is to tell her to wait 24 hours. Then proceeds to ask a bunch of irrelevant questions that should have been asked BEFORE, if at all. Finished it by telling us to call pediatrician. Not 2 hours later and AFTER the damage was ready done. & if this doesn't pull at your strings enough, let clarify the magnitude of the epic failure...the nursing baby is only breastfed, refusing the bottle, and does not eat solids. It says it receives many orders and won't know if it received my doctor's orders for a day or 2, It's recorded message states it is open until 5 pm, but it wasn't. The one star is regarding the front desk staff. I came to my appointment 20 minutes early and when I came to check in the front desk worker said that I had no appointment and that I should leave. 40 minutes later the same worker was like oops we found your appointment can you come back. Once I finally checked in they spelled my name wrong on every document. This may seem minor but it is in fact not as misidentifying a patient is the #1 cause of patient mortality. read more

The technician was perfectly fine; however, the front office staff could not have been more officious and dismissive. For example, I was asked to pay outside of the terms of my insurance contract. I asked for a copy of my report, and the reply was, "Why?" When I pressed, they gabe me a code to get my report from their web portal ... if that's available, why make a thing about it? We all need to get imaging from time to time, so just be prepared to stand your ground not to be billed improperly or to be denied access to your own medical record (both are your legal right)! read more

My doctor referred me to these people for an ultra-sound. I wasn't even able to schedule an appointment! Twice I called them. Both times, I was on endless hold and gave up after 15-20 minutes. Twice I got a call from their automated system. I was invited to press 0 to make an appointment, and duly did so. And wouldn't you know it? Even when *they* call you, they still put you on endless hold. Today, waited and waited for someone to come on the line. Finally, after waiting for 45 minutes (see screenshot), I gave up because I had to make an urgent call. Again I called back as I needed to reschedule an appointment. Going on 5 hours on hold. Will be cancelling the appointment and seeing another provider. Unconscienceable. I was never able to get an appointment and was on hold for hours trying to schedule. Their lack of urgency is quite concerning. I got my PCP to change my referral to a different imaging provider and was scheduled more promptly within a week and received results within 1-2 days. I received an automated phone call the day before I was scheduled for surgery - 3 weeks after making first contact - it was way too late and not needed by then. I would definitely avoid this place if you have time sensitive medical needs if you can. read more

I paid $1566 deductible for some MRIs and the billing department filed a $3,200 claim with my insurance company who requested copies of my medical records before they would pay the claim so instead of providing the medical records that my insurance company requested so the $3,200 claim could be paid and I could receive the reimbursement for the $1,566 deductible I initially had to pay, Norcal Oakland decided to close the $3,200 claim with my insurance company and keep my $1,566 deductible as payment just to hurt me. They rather cheat themselves out of $1,700 by keeping my $1,566 rather than collecting on the $3,200 claim. read more

The one time I spoke to an actual human they told me my referral wasn't on file. Had to call my doctor back to ensure I had the correct information. Called back and could never get an appointment. I never had an MRI before until I came to NorCal Imaging. I was nervous but I was able to set up my appointments via the telephone fairly easily. This was my second appointment at this location. I like the clean convenience of this NorCal/Radnet location and adjacent accessible parking. I am very pleased with the MRI service from the radiology techs and the customer service I received here. The friendly and personable intake receptionist named Dani is a gem. She is thoughtful, empathetic, and considerate when communicating with clients. I have experienced some customer service in healthcare that can be rather robotic and routine but not with her. As I listened to Dani's assuring phone manner in handling a complaint about staffing, I know that she is a consummate professional. read more
