OVER PRICED! We needed our two side-by-side garage doors painted. Just basic garage doors, one standard two car door and one single car. No windows at top, and the kind that roll up along with the ceiling of the garage. Norcal Painter was the first call I made and he told me it would be anywhere from $500-$1,800 depending on if we wanted him to "take a broom to it" and do a quick spray down or make it look nice and last a while. I'm sure Norcal Painter would have done a fabulous job if we wanted to fork out the $1800, but I don't feel like garage doors painted are worth that no matter how good the job. I almost gave up and painted the doors myself but ended up calling three more companies and all the other quotes I got were in the $200 price range. read more

We had two bathrooms that needed wallpaper removed before being painted. We received several bids before deciding to go with John. We went with John not because he offered the lowest price but because he seemed the most thorough, detail oriented and professional. We were NOT disappointed. Here is businessman that does what he says he will do when he says he will do it. He was meticulous in his work and in the care he took to protect the home and carpet. Each day he cleaned up beautifully from his work and when the job was complete we were thrilled with the results. One never knows what they will get once wallpaper is removed. It turned out to be a much more difficult task than anticipated. Still John remained focused and true to his original bid. He is an extremely hard worker and does the right thing with care and passion. His work is beautiful and we would hire him again in a heartbeat. OK, I rarely yelp....but I gotta yelp for John! He just finished his second painting job with us and I have nothing but good things to say about him and his work. Both times he returned my calls and emails promptly (even on the weekends!) and was available to come out to start the job within a couple of days. He's so efficient in what he does...his first job he was able to paint my formal living room with 20 ft walls AND my formal dining room in less than a day and a half (including some tricky areas with stairs). Then his last job with us he painted my large game room and another tricky stair wall in 8 hours! And he really doesn't seem rushed...he takes his time in listen to exactly what you want, explains thoroughly how he's going to go about and do it, sets up all his equipment and COMPLETELY covers the areas he will be walking on with paper and/or towels, and then takes time and care in his prep work. His painting is perfection...I was so surprised to see the clean, straight lines that he did by hand! After two coats, he's done, cleans up and leaves the area EXACTLY how it was when he arrived, with the only difference being the gorgeous color on the wall. All within the time frame he quoted! In a nutshell, John's a perfectionist in what he does. I have absolutely no complaints. And as a person, he's easy to talk to, sociable but straight to the point when it comes to his work. He will give you his honest and truthful opinion. His prices can't be beat either! Such a pleasure to work with, I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND him for paint jobs around the home or small office. I spent the day calling muitple contractors to get quotes for work on a house that my wife and I are purchasing. I called norcal painter left a message and received a call back. I explained that we were wanting to get the upstairs interior of our home painted and John stated that he did not want to give a quote for a project of that size. He continued by saying that he is a small company, and responded with a surpirsed tone. He then stated that he didn't want to bid because "he's a small company, he doesn't want to bid on the work and find out I didnt get the house." I explained to him that I was closing on the home in 30 days but definately didn't want to argue with a scared painter. I guess his quote time is priceless and wonder if he really wants work. I have to come realize there is a big difference in John's painting. He is truly a professional, his completed work looks like something out of a magazine. I started with the kitchen, and it came out unbelievably beautiful. So I got him to do the bathroom. Again, simply amazing I actually stared at the walls to see what is it that his painting is different from other painters. The lines are so clean, no sign of brush or roller strokes. No crack, crevice or blemish could be seen. He is that thorough in his prep work, and goes beyond what I expect him to do. When he did my dining room with the built-in cabinets, I cleaned out the room only to come home and find he pulled out every drawer to paint inside the cabinet and drawers. He pulled out the appliances to do the very back walls and patched a ceiling in the bathtub that the plumbers put a hole in. He is worth every penny. I hired him again to do my deck, dining room utility room, hallways and bedroom. Evenutally I plan to have him do my whole house inside and out. I'll try to post some pics.
