I used to love shopping at Nordstrom Rack in the Fox Hills Mall (Westfield Culver City). I've been a loyal customer for years and every visit I'd easily spend $400+ without any issues. Unfortunately, an experience about two years ago completely changed how I feel about this store. During my last visit, I was racially profiled and followed throughout the store by two asset protection employees (one male and one female). I have no idea why I was singled out. Despite being treated that way, I still purchased around $600 worth of items that day. What made it even more upsetting was seeing one of them waiting near the front door as I was leaving, as if they expected me to do something wrong. I even waved and laughed in disbelief because it was so obvious. He stood at the door after following me, once the second person started following me, then left that post after I walked out with my purchased items. What's even more frustrating is that I saw someone else (same ethnicity as the security that were following me) in the store actually stealing items, but because they were so focused on watching me, they completely ignored her. I saw her walk right out the door after stuffing her pockets and purse with stolen items. Unbelievable! That experience was disappointing. I left the store wishing I hadn't spent a dime there. Since then, I've never returned to that location. I even tried shopping at the Nordstrom Rack on Fig at 7th downtown recently, and unfortunately experienced the same thing, being followed around the store. Because of these experiences, I've decided I will no longer shop at Nordstrom Rack or Nordstrom. No customer who is spending their hard-earned money should feel targeted or profiled while simply trying to shop. Prior to the incident where I was followed around the store, I had another frustrating experience at this location. On a previous visit, I purchased clothes and other items. When I walked out, the alarm at the door went off, but another customer was exiting at the same time so I assumed it was related to her purchase. I had two bags of clothes and other items, and didn't notice anything unusual when I quickly checked my bags. About a month later, when I went to wear one of the dresses, I discovered the security sensor was still attached. It was black and blended in with the dress, which is probably why I didn't notice it earlier. I then checked the other clothes and two more dresses that I hadn't worn yet and found that they also still had sensors attached, hidden on the slip of the dress. I returned to the store to have them removed, but initially the staff refused because I didn't have the receipt. Fortunately, I had used my Nordstrom credit card and they were able to look up the purchase and finally remove the sensors. This situation could have been avoided if the employee had properly checked the dresses (since they hide their sensors) before bagging them. These are higher-priced items that typically have sensors attached, so you would think staff would be trained to know where the sensors are placed. But I don't totally blame the staff because they were hidden. Why not make them visible? Why place a black sensor on a black dress? Customers shouldn't have to inspect their purchases for security tags after leaving the store. Goodbye, Nordstroms! It was fun while it lasted. read more

Line at the register gets very long and fluctuated a lot in terms of the number of staff that stayed at the register in spite of a growing line. Upside this location does offer a free parking lot unlike other locations in the area. Didn't have time to check out the selection as I was there to do a return. read more

Nordstrom Rack? More like Chaos Central. It's been ages since I last stepped into Nordstrom Rack, and wow--how the mighty have fallen. Walking in feels like navigating a maze of endless racks, cluttered shelves, and rows upon rows of shoes. The vibe is congested, chaotic, and honestly, borderline claustrophobic. What used to be a somewhat chic discount spot now screams "bargain bin overload." And the quality? Don't get me started. I ordered a pair of shades online thinking, "These will work." Spoiler alert: they didn't. They literally fell apart after just a few wears. When I went to return them, I ran into a lackluster employee who had to call over the shift manager. Cue the unnecessary commentary. The shift manager inspected the broken glasses like they were some priceless artifact and hit me with, "I'll accept the return this time." Um, alright. Please keep your comedic power trip over cheap, flimsy shades. No worries, though. There won't be a next time. From now on, my shades (and everything else) will come from the real Nordstrom--where the quality matches the name, the aesthetic doesn't make me cringe, and I can shop without feeling like I need to bolt for the exit. What a horrible experience I had at Nordstrom's rack in Culver City. I am a 75 year old professional woman. a couple of months ago I went in to return a Dress , the line was long to check it out so I went and tried on a couple of other dressers and shoes and then returned the dress successfully. Of course I have the receipt. on my way out I saw a small straw purse I wasn't sure my wallet and phone and everything would fit in it and it was stuffed with tons of paper I guess to fill it out to make it look better. So I took the paper out and put it in another purse as not to litter, I stuck my hand in to see how deep the purse was. I have an older dog and I was pushing her in a doggy stroller. I put the straw purse in the stroller to go and pay for it and I could see that it was scratching my dog so I lifted her little cushion up and put some of the purse under there so it didn't scratch her. I went to pay and the line was again very long so I walked around the store and through the window see across the indoor mall a jewelry repair place. I couldn't see what it said on their window and stepped only about 4 feet outside the store trying to read what time the store closed. Suddenly I was grabbed by the arm by a big heavyset guy and a badge shoved in my face and told me I need to come back into the store because I was stealing merchandise. I explained the situation but I followed him assuming I was just going to go and get in line and pay for the purse. He led me deep into the store into some kind of office with handcuffs , and I said I just was trying to read what was on the sign and coming right back. they took the purse out of the stroller. They started lifting up my dog and her cushion and like I said, she's an older dog they asked me for my drivers license. I don't know why I just totally cooperated But I did. This thing, this awful merchandise control person or whatever they're called sat down and started typing at a computer and like I said, I'm a 75 year old woman with cardiovascular disease I'm sitting on a bench and I pick up my phone and he told me to put my phone Down I could not make any calls for anybody to come there. Now I'm getting stressed. My blood pressure is going up. I don't know what's going on. He asked for my drivers license. I gave it to him and then he just continue to type for probably 45 minutes and said to me, I came into the store with intent to steal that purse! I think I kind of went into shock. I said no I did not. I was returning a dress and mearly reading the sign on the jewelry store. Then, another guy in another room shouted I ripped the tags off of the purse I said I did not. I pulled the paper out to see if the purse is going to be big enough. Every woman will understand this. About an hour later in walks two Culver city policeman. I am seriously in shock. One of them with a mohawk haircut started to harass me saying for $30. You caused all this problem. I said I did not try to steal anything and I told him what I was doing. He said they were going to see if I had a record. I said fine I do not have a record. Now another 45 minutes goes by and I told the jerk who was typing I needed to go home. I needed to take some medicine and he said you cannot leave. They had to know how old I was they had my drivers license! Then the police said she has no record, and I just held up my arms and expected them to let me go. But no, now the jerk who was typing I guess he's called theft, control officer, or something like that comes over with a clipboard and said for me tsign these papers and then you can go home. I did not have my reading glasses with me I said, what am I signing and he said that you are going to show up at Court December 15! the police gave me some kind of a ticket or summons and say I have to be at court and they will all be there on December 15. I seriously almost passed out. I signed the papers. I have no idea what I signed but from what I've read on the Internet it was not just that I would show up to court on December 15 which, of course I will as the police instructed me to do so. They gave me back my license, and I got up to leave. The police followed me, and the one with the mohawk hairdo starts yelling at me, going down the escalator," and don't ever come back into the store!"and there were people there people staring at me. was so humiliating. I have been having panic attacks, talking to a therapist and had to go on an anti-depressant, because this was such a traumatic experience. to treat a senior citizen, a female, With a heart condition, like this is reprehensible. To not allow me to use the phone, I was well dressed and obviously can afford a $30 purse to be treated like I was a total criminal. This was just criminal in itself. I suggest do not go to the store because they will try to frame you. I am in discussions to sue this store, and the male theft control person. HORRIBLE SERVICE. I had a big purchase of a lot of clothes in different sizes that I had to try on at home. I came to return most of the clothes (other than the outfit I ended up keeping). Unfortunately, I was late on the return window by ONE DAY. I told the employees my situation including that I had a flu for two weeks and couldn't return the items sooner. I practically begged for an exception to the return policy so I could get my money back. Again, it was a very big purchase so I really needed the cash back. The manager looked at me and just said no. Extremely disappointing experience with the management at this location. Despite a clear two-week price difference, they refused to honor or even consider a price adjustment. The website's sizing information was inaccurate, and after ordering based on what typically fits, I was met with zero flexibility or understanding from the manager. This location is currently under construction. Therefore, they won't be fully stocked with all clothing items. Some sections will be closed off, so they won't let you shop in there, despite being able to physically see items. As of August 20, 2024, they have all the clearance clothes blocked off not the regular priced items. Last night, me and my brother and I stopped by Nordstrom Rack in Culver City, and we're followed by security. It's time to start fighting back against the racial profiling at Nordstrom stores!!! I'm asking black customers to start pulling out your phone and recording security when you are followed, then post the video on TikTok! I made a return the moment I walked into the store. therefore, we had no bags in our hands, and we didn't even have on jackets or a mask. Thus, the question is why we were selected to be followed! After making a return, we went into the mens department and were looking for shirts for my brother. I left my brother and went to the women's shoe department to look around, and I noticed a chunky Mexican man wearing all black with black shoes with no socks. He looked me up and down and said hi to me and game and stood not far from me pretending to look at women shoes in the size 11 section. I knew this had to be security. Then shortly after a latina girl wearing all black also, sipping on a drink, kept looking at me and followed me down every row I went down and stayed close to me as I tired on shoes, clearly keeping her eyes on me! She never tired on one shoe and clearly did not wear a size 9 or 10 shoe. At this point I realized that I have clearly been racially profiled by security in the store because I'm a black women and I have on a baseball cap and based on those factors they believe that I must be there to steal!!!!!! I then called my brother and told him that I'm being followed by security and I I walked toward the front of the store to pay. When I get toward the front of the store, the same chunky Mexican guy wearing all black is standing by the line looking at me. This is when my brother informs me that the same guy that followed me had been following him. I'm the mens department. This is when I asked to speak with mangement, as I'm waiting for mangement to come out I take out my phone to take a picture of one of the security guards that followed me and my brother. He sees me take a picture and starts to walk away very quickly!!! Then the manger by the name of Beverly P, came over and added insult to injury by lieing to me and saying that she didn't know who the guy was that was following me and my brother and that he dosen't work there!!!!! Addictionally, She never once said I'm sorry about your experience or anything to try and calm the situation. She couldn't even look me in my face because she knew she was lying!! Clearly, this is not the first time a customer like myself has complained about being followed in there store because the cashiers who were very nice ringing up customers were shaking their heads in agreement that following black customers needs to stop! Please note that this is not the first time that I have been followed in a Nordstrom store, which is why I'm so mad!!! Nordstrom has a serious issue with racially profiling black customers until they start to address that issue!!! It does not matter how many black people they hire if you treat your black customers like criminals!!! Once I was in line, I asked the gentlemen behind me for his opinion on my chosen item and boy did I get attention from the lady behind him, I thought they were together for a minute even though we both arrived in line together. Nevertheless, as my turn came along the cashier/gentleman was on the roll, so I guess I threw him off when I asked for a garment bag for my off-white linen shirt as I saw the lady before me get as well. After he comes back with garment bag, I told him to put that in the garment bag in brown paper bag and he got flustered because it had not worked because the air in the bag blew up when folded, he tried but I realized right away that he was right to not use bag, but he was frustrated, in front of everyone and that lady/customer was at another register making comments to the lady cashier serving her. After purchase, he handed me the garment bag so close to my face I was unable to look at him to say thank you. He said his goodbyes, but it was all mechanical. Horrendous experience with a cashier named Ruth. As we were patiently waiting to be called next, the lady infront of me seemed upset. To lighten the mood I told them they dissapeared and everything is free. We laughed and continued waiting. Well when I get to the register, The cashier is looking at me with a mean stare and she then goes on a rant about how they are busy helping others and that for my information they were busy helping us out. I was shocked because not only did she interject in my personal conversation, she also took it out of context and decided to scold me. Literally have to hold my disgust in while writing this. So, this store has what you need. Customer service, prices, etc. All that is fine. The main reason I am writing this is because of a GROSS experience I had. I bought a 3 pack of Calvin Klein underwear, when I get home the pack has 2 adidas and 1 CK.... Super weird, all still the right size tho. Upon inspection I notice the print in the inside looks WORN... the removable manufacture tags have been cut... and they SMELL.... They were literally 3 worn underwear in the pack. I felt disgusted. How can you even return something like that? It felt so gross. Literally worst experience from retail I have ever had. Everything in the store is orderly and super easy to navigate through. This is my go to store for a good deal on activewear (you got to love Zella), accessories (you gotta love Vince Camuto, Michael Kors, Kate Spade and Rebecca Minkoff), makeup ( you got to love mac. Bliss and The Body Shop) holiday decorations, shoes, Home Goods and so much more. They even sell candy near the cash registers. I made a stop at this Nordstrom Rack last night, but I had a bad encounter with an employee. As I made my way to the fitting room to see my sister trying on clothes, an employee working the fiiting room approached me. She asked what I was gonna try on. I was carrying a shirt that I had tried on minutes before along with my personal belongings. I told her I wasn't going to try anything on, but was entering to see my sister merely try on clothes. She noticed I was carrying another item in hand and asked what it was. I told her it was my sock (I use it as a temporary phone case). She stared at it for a bit and seemed suspicious and then said "It's yours? Okay." She then went about her buisiness working the fitting room. When I met with my sister in the fitting room, I told her about the encounter. We decided to complain (my sister told me the employee wasn't warm and that they failed to greet customers). We told the manager on duty about our negative experiences. She said she would have a talk with the problem employee. I appreciated the manager hearing us out and hope the employee changes their approach towards customers. There are good deals here but you just have to search for it. Comparing this Nordstrom Rack and the Seattle one, I prefer the Seattle one more and the reason being there are better deals. Here is not bad, the store is located on the second floor, its brighter and much more spacious. The one in Seattle is the basement and its darker. Just different feel when walking in. I was incredibly impressed by the professionalism displayed by the cashier named Ruth. I was standing in line waiting to pay and there was an extremely rude, entitled and disrespectful customer cussing out and raising his voice at the poor cashier. Let me start by saying I've been shopping at this Rack since they initially opened at the Howard Hughes Center a couple of miles up Sepulveda from their current location within the mall. When they were at HH Ctr the merchandise selection was spectacular! I've gotten Diesel jeans, D&G sneakers, Valentino, etc. there in the past. The Rack seemed to be at its height and tue store was very lively and energetic, which makes you want to shop. Once they moved to the mall the merchant seemed to fall off slowly over time. Now all you can find in there are basic brands, shoes no one wants, and a bunch of rag tag accessories and beauty products. Nothing near the higher end clothing they used to carry. It might just be this location because I've found Gucci sneakers and accessories at the Beverly Connection store. Not sure if it's the managers or buyers who control the influx of merch but this location needs a major upgrade. The men's departments are absolutely terrible and a waste of time, especially the shoe section. I haven't seen a decent pair of shoes in here since pre-Covid! Who's responsible for this? When I stepped into this store, I wanted to walk back out. It was an utter mess and had to be the worst Nordstrom Rack that I'd been in. There was shit everywhere. I've been to this location before, but this was the worst I've ever seen it. It literally looked like a Marshalls or T.J. Max. Granted, it was a few days after Christmas and they were having a crazy sale, but all Nordstrom Racks were and others that I had been to are far more organized. I gave up on looking for clothes. That was just a total nightmare...all the sizes were mixed up, they rolled out extra racks of clothes that had pants, dresses, and shirts all mixed in, and you couldn't tell what was on sale and what wasn't. Besides that, you couldn't move through the racks. I went over to the shoes...my weakness and had a great time over there. I found 5 pairs that I really liked, but ultimately chose 2 pairs of heels. I usually don't like to review retail stores because they are somewhat all the same but this NR in particular is different than other ones that I have visited so far. It has been 3 times that I have been to this NR and when I was ready to head toward the register and saw a big line. But within less than 3 minutes, the cashiers would get rid of the line. I mean there are only 6 registers at this store but they go through the line sooo fast, is kind of amazing.... Everytime I go there I praise their fast pace and I need to mention one particular associate named MARTIN who is always very nice and helpful and fast! Another cool thing about this store is that they have brand names items at very reasonable priced.. I found a night gown from TADASHI that I fell in love with... The tag said it was $74 which I was ok with... When I got to the register, the sale associate said, it is $40!!!! I was like are you serious??!!! I mean how can you go wrong with that?!!! That was a sweet buy! I would visit this store everyday if I could... Lol but unfortunately or fortunately (for my wallet) that is not doable... :-) read more
