That being said, the interactions with others have been utterly appalling. Between the fact that their automated phone system doesn't work 99.8% of the time, whether you're calling in for a refill or to just leave a message, it simply doesn't work and they will NOT get your message. And when you call to speak to someone, they always make it sound like it's your fault. Back towards the end of 2024 I had the great misfortune of having to deal with Mary Rafter calling the after hours on call. I believe it was for my mother's inhaler. While on the phone with Mary, I was pretty much reiterating my conversation I had with the office staff and all she did was repeat what I said in a condescending tone and count back how many times she felt I'd complained. She spent so much time being worried about how many times she felt I complained versus listening to me, she got the order incorrect and called in the wrong medication (she called in nebulizer treatments not her inhaler). Which in turn wasted MY time and wasted time of the pharmacy techs and left my mother without med. So I had to call the on call doctor AGAIN and got Dr. Weaver, who listened to me and ordered the correct medication for her, he was awesome! I decided perhaps it would just be best to start ordering her meds through the online portal instead of calling, nope! Same issues! They show no records if you order online either, they still won't get it and will blame you. Same as if you call and leave messages, those messages just magically disappear. I've complained about rude office staff so many times I don't even remember what I've complained about. Today was the end of it though after I got off the phone with the office manager, Shelley. On May 6th 2025 at 1:55 pm I called her line directly and left her a VERY irate message (that she of course didn't get, SHOCKER!), due to us having MaineHealth at home working with my mother doing OT, PT and having a nurse come to see her since they can't be bothered to come see their own patients, cuz why would they? The nurse we had come here was done with my mother that day, the referral they had for home health expired and she came for her final visit and let me know she had been trying to reach them every day for an entire week with no response. We were trying to get a muscle relaxer or anything to assist my mother with spasms she's been having in her right knee so we could move forward with her PT to get her standing to pivot to get strength back. They hadn't heard a word from them, hence me calling to leave the irate message. Oddly enough, I left that message yet the following day the nurse that was done with my mother finally received a call from this doctor's office stating they were going to give her Magnesium. Why wasn't I called? Her own doctor's office doesn't know their referral expired and the nurse is done in our home and is now sharing medical information with another medical facility that isn't caring for her any longer? But can't call me? I expressed this to Shelley, then on came the blame. It was MY fault for not calling them even though I called HER and left a message that she didn't get because of their wonderful phone system, it was the nurse from MaineHealth's responsibility to notify me even though she ISN'T her nurse anymore, all while my home is in the middle of renovations to make it handicap accessible for my mother. Over 3 weeks after the fact. I've included texts between myself and our WONDERFUL nurse that we had with MaineHealth that Shelley tried to throw under the bus claiming their office staff was communicating with her. I don't believe it for 1 second. What I do believe is that their office falsified communication records to cover their asses. As you can see, we've been over this office for quite some time.

This facility use to be so full of kind- hearted and caring Doctors who took their time and really…read morelistened to the reason you were there. They would really take the time to make the phone call (s) and order labs, blood work etc. that you needed to have done and really think outside the box and do whatever it was they needed to do to find the answer. I personally believe Wiscasset Family Medicine has gone down hill QUITE a bit. Aside from the nurses who are absolutely amazing! (Again, speaking from personal experience) Tori and Monica are sweet, caring and are always on top of things. For the last few years it's been nothing but long wait times, feeing rushed once you get in with said Doctor and you're lucky if you get and appointment with your provider. If you've never seen the provider before be ready for that provider to have no idea how to proceed in your treatment.
