It's hard to write negative reviews and I am unsure of how else to push for accountability for…read morehealthcare "providers" such as Rayus. A team member for Rayus called me to schedule an MRI after a local Dr sent an order in. When I asked what the cost would be she said about $1,200 with or without insurance. When I asked what went into the cost, such as materials, staffing, etc, the staff member seemed to laugh and then literally said, "It is just highway robbery." I remember that part verbatim. And then to summarize the rest, she continued on about how there was no reason really at all. In some ways I appreciate her honesty. I am less upset she told me the truth than I am with Rayus as a company for their predatory and extremely unethical practices with pricing, Rayus should not be trusted to administer medical services.

Waited a month for an appointment, traveled over 5 hours to the appointment (from Vinalhaven) and…read moreused a whole day to do it. Called the day before to confirm my appointment and received an automated call confirming it from Rayus. I arrived 45 minutes early and they told me my appointment had been canceled and I was supposed to have received a phone call notifying me. I received no such call and when I explained all of the above they said there was nothing they could do and I'd have to reschedule (soonest appointment turned out to be just shy of 3 weeks away). I have a bad lower back injury possibly needing surgery. Avoid Rayus at all costs.

I was so dismayed with my visit here. While the actual technician was fine, maybe a little…read moreimpatient with my anxiety, the rest of the staff seemed way too involved in their gossip behind the desk about their schedules and early holiday cards. It felt highly unprofessional, and I now understand why my insurance funneled me to this place--the least expensive--out of all the other area options to get an MRI. 2/3rds of the lockers were broken, there was no private bathroom to use after I had changed, and there was another patient-- a male no less--that I had to walk past when I returned to the locker room to change. I was in scrubs (XLs, and I am usually a woman's S or XS), so felt incredibly vulnerable. The assistant who checked me in and directed me to scrubs was nice enough, but so inexperienced and I learned later she is an actual student! When someone is having an anxiety attack, patting their back and commanding deep breaths is NOT the way to go. People: introduce yourselves, be kind, and keep the office gossip to places your patients won't hear it. Definitely won't be back.

Wow, I wish I had the same experience with Marshwood as the other reviewers during my first visit…read more Just for some background, I've had at least 10 MRIs of my head because I had a brain tumor in 2004 and I'm pretty used to how it's supposed to go. The first time I needed an MRI in 2019, I found Marshwood to have a difficult time returning calls, they scheduled me and then had to cancel at the last minute because they needed more information, they performed a test that my doctor had not asked for (but actually should have), and they probably added about a week of delay to something which was time critical. Having said that, I did talk about my experiences with a woman named Melissa and she was appropriately surprised, disappointed, and apologetic. I told Melissa that I'd call her before going back in an attempt to improve the odds on the next visit, and that worked. Everything went the way it should on my second visit, and I was there for an MRI of my spine which takes a while. Then I went back for a CT scan and didn't call ahead to tell Melissa I was coming in. Things went perfectly again, and I'm pretty sure that the first time must have been an unusual event. Maybe it was a full moon, Mercury was retrograde, and too many people were out sick. I don't actually have any idea what happened the first time, but it never happened again. It seems that I'm sort of a frequent flyer now and I'll be getting more MRIs from time to time. I'm happy to go back to Marshwood in the future to get them. I'm going to go with four stars. Two for the first visit, five stars for the two flawless visits, and five stars for Melissa's jumping in and fixing whatever it was that went wrong. And kudos to Vonda as well for being the one person that got it right on my first visit.
