GoggleWorks Center for the Arts - Boards of floor plan and guidance on how to explore Goggleworks

I visited the Goggleworks website (www.goggleworks.org) and was impressed with the options available. Via email, I inquired with my questions and was answered immediately. We ultimately chose a private glassblowing session. Remember when you are choosing to partake in these artisanal sessions, you are paying for the artisan's expertise and sharing of knowledge . So at first glance, it may seem pricey. However, given the experience as a whole, it does NOT disappoint! Our instructor Andrew was awesome! His energy and passion matched our excitement. He made our experience so much more fun with his anecdotes about the glassblowing. He explained everything in detail; we never felt rushed or uncomfortable about our skill level. There were four of us in our glassblowing session. He expertly guided us in the best artisan experience I have ever had. For our glassblowing class, we all chose to make drinking glasses. Each of us chose different color palettes to match our varying personalities. Of course, due to the nature of glassblowing, it was a very HOT experience but we were dressed accordingly and hydrated throughout. After we each had our turn, our glasses were immediately placed in a temperature-controlled device (I can't remember its name) to slowly cool the glass down and prevent cracking. We were not permitted to take the glasses home but rather had to come back another day to pick them up. After our session, we headed back to the main Goggleworks building to check out the art exhibits, gift store, and (what I'll call) the artist alley of artisans' work spaces and offices. We spent lots of time enjoying the space and speaking with varying artists. Turns out that the space is a former goggles factory that was used back in the 1800s and the space takes great care in preserving its history. It's soooo cool. It was truly enjoyable!! I highly recommend Goggleworks! This is one of my most memorable experiences!! I can't wait to see our glasses. Note: We arrived early to have breakfast at the onsite cafe, Thorn Alley Kitchen (see separate Yelp review for more details).

We walked in and the lady behind the retail/customer service desk told us about the building and where to walk since it was our first time visiting, she was very lovely! The first floor had their showing for their art show and the rest of the floors is their classrooms and displayed all their students art pieces. It is an absolutely beautiful building and all of the art is amazing. Some pieces you are able to buy which I find very cool!

I spoke with Sandi who was very nice and understanding and offered to replace the entire arrangement. I certainly wasn't expecting that, it was 1 flower. With gas prices up I couldn't see them delivering a replacement arrangement but Sandi insisted stating that they guarantee the freshness of their flowers. Later that day, a fresh arrangement was delivered and the flowers look beautiful!! The customer service was top rate!! I would definitely recommend this flower shop. Exceptional customer service goes a long way and to replace an entire arrangement because of 1 flower speaks volumes. They definitely stand behind their product!!

But, the fees and delivery charges are almost as much as the flowers themselves. I then googled flowers shops for the Reading, PA area. I came across Royer's I liked what I saw and they charge $8.95 for delivery. My totally cost was around $40 which was my budget. I felt that was very reasonable. Their website was simple to navigate. I was able to select an option for a $29.95 arrangement of their choice. Then the $8.95 delivery charge and then taxes. I'm out of state in VA. I was unaware of the snow in PA they were having on the day of delivery I chose. I kept waiting for a message from my family member or an email confirming delivery. So around 4pm I called and they said because of weather they were doing their deliveries tomorrow. Sigh. I really wish they would have called and informed me. I'm a firm believer in communication. The flowers that were delivered were bright and beautiful. Perfect. My family member loved them, and they put a smile on their face every time they see it. I'm glad they could do that for them. I will use Royer's again for a few people I know in the Reading, PA area.

We received a text at around 1:00-1:30 the day of the appointment saying that he didn't get the trees in time so we needed to reschedule. We scheduled for 11/7 at 5:00 pm. I arrived by 5 and one in my group was already there. I looked at the table of trees and they were different sizes? We each paid $150 for a large tree. My friend had two small trees in front of her and one of the large trees was smaller than the rest but bigger than the smalls. She stated that he said he dropped one of the large trees so he gave us two small. When questioned about the other odd sized tree he said" oh that's a large it's just a different manufacturer". So we begin our trees, which I took the two smaller ones and was not able to finish by 6:30 which is when he closed. I said I would be back the following week to finish them both , I live in Bernville. I went the following week and was told that someone else had painted my tree and that he would get one to replace it tomorrow. So I finished the one while he sat there and told me about his personal life with some guy as if we were best friends. I said I would be back next week To do the other one. I went back the next week and he said, " you were supposed to call me, I don't have the tree yet". I reminded him that he said he would get another tree the next day and he argued with me. I went back the next week and my tree was there to finish. This business has posted that the process from start to finish will take a week. The other girls in my group had finished their trees the first night, felt rushed because we had an hour and a half and he told us "not to worry, that he would touch them up before firing them, which he did not do. We were supposed to pick up the trees a couple of times and he kept making excuses and changing the pick up date. I had multiple texts with him and he became disagreeable and rude during them. We finally were able to get the trees which were supposed to be ready to go. They were fired but that was it. No touch ups. Some of the holes in the trees were plugged and he didn't have the proper tool to fix them. We had to gather all the lights and things for the trees, while he had to look for the right sizes and colors. Also, no paper towels or anything to use while painting to clean if you needed to. When I went back to finish, I took my own paper towels. Last but not least he came in the room wreaking of weed. I know when I was there a couple of times there were children there. Not professional at all. I will never go back to this place and I would not recommend it to anyone. Felt like chaos.
