The greater Reading metro area has two nice Ollie's? Yes, it does. This store is located in Shillington Square Shopping Center, a shopping center with significant vaccines. The whole complex looks dated, but don't judge this location on it's looks from the outside. Inside of the store is nice, clean, organized, and well stocked. There were very few empty shelves. This Ollie's has one major issue: Store is WAY too small. There is nowhere near enough space between any of the aisles, with most being only one cart wide, making the shopping experience difficult. There is nowhere near enough queue space behind the registers. Ollie's needs to lease the vacant 13,000 sq ft storefront next door and expand into it. Overall, this could be a standout Ollie's if it had more space. Still worth a stop. read more

Not handicap at all, I could. NOT fit my walker through 95% of the isles, bathroom is dirty, and also not handicap accessible, the isles are packed so full that the shopping cart would not fit down most of the isles, I like this store just not a fan of the fact it's hard to get around if you have mobility issues, for this reason I give them a 2 star rating if they would fix this the rating would go THE BATHROOM IS GROSS BEYOND GROSS SEE PICS ATTACHED read more

Going to the Ollie's store on Lancaster Ave., Shillington is the most annoying experience. The store is crowded, not clean, aisles are narrow. Ollie's herds you in and out of their store like cattle. There is one entrance and one exit only. You can't go out the entrance door, and you can't come in the exit door. The exit door is inconveniently located. It's blocked by shelving and the check out line, which is usually very long. If you want to exit the store because you're not purchasing anything, you have to make your way through a maze of people and carts who are waiting to check out. This should be a fire department violation. You see doors, but you can't get out because they're one way in and one way out, and as I said, the exit door is blocked by shelving and check out lines, which are usually very long and you wait a lengthy amount of time to check out. The other day (and it was a weekday afternoon, not a busy weekend day), it took me 15 to 20 minutes to pay for one greeting card, while my husband was waiting in the car and we had somewhere to be. The cashiers go through a lengthy process of talking each customer into an Ollie's rewards program, which requires you giving all your personal information so they can type it into their computer. So their cashiers also have sales responsibilities. When you check out, they make sure to ask you about their rewards program, and if you've already signed up for the program, they want you to start the checkout process by you having to give more of your personal info, like your phone number, so they can look up your account. What if you just want to pay and leave cuz you're in a hurry. Not at Ollie's in Shillington! Since we were on our way somewhere and my husband was waiting for me in the car, I told the cashier I didn't have time to go through the rewards program questions and give them my my phone number. I just wanted to pay and leave. I did tell the cashier I was disappointed in how long I had to wait in line just to pay for a $.99 greeting card. The cashier asked me, AGAIN, to "do her a favor" and give her my phone number so she could look up my rewards account. AGAIN, I said no. Ollie's needs to make all their stores more customer friendly. Let customers enter and exit through both doors, especially when they are exiting without making a purchase. Don't trap customers in the store so they have to go through a cattle line to exit the store. How about adding some self check out registers near the exit, so you can pick up something quick and check yourself out. Ollie's should look around....Walmart, Target and other stores have self checkout. Get with the trending times or customers like me will stop coming into your store. By the way, everyone in line with me was complaining about the long check out line, even though there were 3 cashiers working. Each customer seems to stand at the cash register for 10 or more minutes answering questions and the cashiers often have to run away from their cash registers to go look things up. I don't get it. When I checked out, the cashier claimed she couldn't scan my card because it didn't have the right code on the back, so she had to leave her register, walk over to the card section, and pick up a different card that had the right barcode on it, bring it back and then scan that card. This seems confusing because all the cards are $.99. This is what I call poor management. Your cashiers shouldn't have to leave their register to go get inventory to scan when there are 15 people in line waiting. How about putting a copy of the barcode at every register for the greeting cards that are all $.99. If the particular card a customer is buying doesn't have your preferred barcode, a cashier would only have to scan the copy of the barcode if it's at their register. Easy! Lastly, half the time, Ollie's doesn't have what I need anyway because they're inventory is not consistent. It's odd stuff they buy cheap and sell a little cheaper and what they're offering that day or week it depends on what deals they found. So, why should I go in Ollie's, not find what I want, then get trapped in the store and then have to meander my way through the maze of people and carts just to exit the one and only exit door that's very inaccessible to someone not buying anything and just needs to exit. This place always has some unique items at a great price, especially tools which can be pricey elsewhere. They have a great book department. Basically everything here is exceptionally priced in every department! I have seen nice large paintings, great cooking spices, refurbished electronics and housewares, and much more. read more

I was really excited after moving to the area and discovering Ollie's. But that was short lived. After shopping other places I have found that most items at Ollie's not to be particularly cheap unless they are very short dated or poor quality. I find the same items at other discount stores either the same price or even cheaper and in a better shopping environment. And I don't have to listen to Ollie constantly telling me a lie: GOOD STUFF CHEAP! Unless you are looking for cheap kids' books, I wouldn't waste time at Ollie's. I don't shop there anymore. read more

This place is a gem. You can't walk out of there without a smile and chanting "OLLIES! GOOD, STUFF CHEAP!" I ended up checking out with the very nice young lady who just so happened to be the front end manager. I won't say her name, but it starts with an A ;) She was extremely helpful in pointing out deals in different parts of the store, including the brand names that come from Target!! She was definitely a shining star amongst the space of deals! read more

I was shopping sat ollies today, and I found a single vintage lightbulb. I went to front while checking out, and asked if they can scan it to see of there was more than one in inventory. They refused to scan, and check even though in past have done this for me. They told me to wander around lightbulb isle, and also told me theres no inventory, just whats in front of the shelf. Then when I explained in the past that the workers there have scanned an item, and told me how many were in the store Robin the cashier became very rude. When i turned to leave after I got my receipt she flipped me off in front on my 8 year old daughter, 13 year old son, and other customers. Avoid this place until people like Robin don't work their anymore. read more

I was just here today and the lady who checked me out was extremely rude. She got a phone call so I waited til she was done and she said she while on the phone, "uh can I help you?" with an attitude. Then I said I wanted to be checked out and looked at me like I was stupid. She checked me out without saying a word and I thanked her and completely ignored me. I didn't get her name but she was wearing a head scarf or something like that. read more

I really like this place. The merchandise is very varied in both quality and topic but there are some really good deals to be had. I check in here every few weeks to see what's new and sometimes walk out with a really good deal. The staff has always been helpful and if you don't have a Saks Fifth Avenue expectation with a bargain outlet store I think you'll be pleased with your visit. read more

Where to begin... I guess I shouldn't complain too much considering it's a bargain outlet. There could be some major improvements with this store and I suppose they could start by hiring some better employees. Why not start with people who actually are trying to get a job and want to work. I can't stand coming into Ollie's and seeing the people that work there in pajamas and slippers. If you want to wear pajamas and slippers you should be at home. Secondly, the signs they have in there are ridiculously cheesy. "COMPLAINT DEPARTMENT" *sign pointing to exit* It's impossible to even push a shopping cart along the isles because they are so thin that you literally can not walk past someone who is standing there. The isle is (not joking) the exact width of a shopping cart. Sometimes you even have to push things back on shelves to maneuver up the isle. Things here are sold very cheap in comparison to other stores. $2 extension cord... $1 books... some items are over priced like computer desks and chairs. You can pay $10 more at other stores for much better quality items. read more

This is a really fun place to come if you are bored and want to kill an hour. They have really good deals on everything in the store but you have to watch for the food items because sometimes they are about to expire. Also, it is a total crapshoot on whether you will find anything that you are looking for or how much of it they will have. read more

This place is frecen amazing!,no lie. It reminds me a lot of biglots for the fact that they have realy nice stuff for realy cheap.I love to read,and the have a hole part of the store just dedicated to books.I got two books here they were only 1.99 eatch.One was about the big bad wolf,and one was cinderella being a vampire slayer :) neat books id never seen them before.They also had books in bolk,you could get 4 books in a searies for 6.99,defently not a bad deal at all. read more
