The big deal to me is when you order wood, is how much wood you are getting from the provider? I've been buying firewood for over 40 years and in the last 5 years it has become more difficult to find a seller who knows how to measure wood. You'll find plenty of companies that sell "cords, truckloads, ricks, stacks, etc." I always buy a "true" cord. A "truckload"-think a Ford F-150, will barely hold a 1/3 cord. If you want a "cord"of wood, then you better make sure that you understand the difference between a "face cord" and a "true cord. A "true" cord of wood is a standard measurement used to quantify firewood. It is defined as a stack of wood that measures 4 feet high, 4 feet wide, and 8 feet long, totaling 128 cubic feet of wood. A "face" cord, on the other hand, refers to a stack of wood that is typically 4 feet high and 8 feet long, but the depth can vary. The most common depth for a face cord is 16 inches, which is a common length for cut logs. This means a face cord contains about one-third of a full cord, or approximately 42.7 cubic feet of wood. In summary: - Cord: 128 cubic feet (4' x 4' x 8'). - Face Cord: Typically 42.7 cubic feet (4' x 8' x 16"). Make sure to clarify which measurement is being used when purchasing firewood. It takes 3 "face" cords to equal 1 "true"cord! I texted Matt at North Atlanta Firewood to confirm the measurement of a "true" cord of wood. Their website clearly shows the measurements of all the wood that they sell, but I just wanted to be certain as my previous purchases from other providers over the last few years didn't "measure up" to what was promised, both in size and quality of the firewood. Matt arranged for a delivery of Oak firewood a couple days later and texted me the evening before with a 2 hour time window for delivery. The next day, I received another text from the delivery guys telling me that they were 15 minutes away-right on time! The 2 young guys that delivered were extremely pleasant. The stacking site was not that easy to get to, but they worked very hard getting the wood to that site, with a smile on their faces the entire time. When finished, we measured the wood pile and it was, as hoped for, a "true"cord-128 cubic feet. I gave them both a nice tip-(they worked, very, very hard). The quality of the wood and the delivery service was exactly what I had hoped for. I have already referred my neighbor to Northside Firewood and will absolutely use them again. Do yourself a favor, buy from Northside as they know how to measure firewood, in any amount that you want. You will get great firewood at a terrific price, from nice people. read more

We ordered 1/3 cord of wood. They advised me on the phone that it would not be fully seasoned, but would burn well once it lit. They said it would probably take about 20 minutes with the gas flame going. They had a flat tire on the way here, so had to postpone delivery until the next morning, but, they came on time, they let us know what was going on, and their service was awesome. Flat tires happen.... The downside was that the wood did NOT light well or stay lit. While it was somewhat seasoned, it was not seasoned enough. I called to see what we could do about it, and they came out and replaced the wood within a couple of days with wood they said is better seasoned. I have not tried it yet (they just left), but am assuming they are correct. If not, I'll update here. As it stands right now, I will definitely do business with them again. They stand behind their product, their service is great, and they clearly want me, the customer, to be satisfied. Can't ask for much more than that. read more

Went to buy from my usual supplier, CEF, but found their prices had tripled since last year. Gave NAF a try and am thrilled. The wood is well-seasoned and burns just as well as the pretty kiln dried I still have from last year. The big difference? This is 1/3 the price since CEF jacked their rates to include a rack with every load purchased. I need firewood; not racks. NAF was on time, pleasant, and left the house clean (they had to carry through it to get to the back deck). Solid value. read more

Ordered 1/3 of a cord from them in September of this year. They came on the day they said they would. However a few issues. 1. They drove over my newly installed wet sod, totally killing it. They tried to cover it up but it was obvious the date was done The second major issue is the wood itself. They call it seasoned however when I use my moisture pieces most of the pieces are well over 20% in moisture. When I try to start a fire with what they deliver the fire basically never burns well. It typically goes out. Have never had this issue with the wood I purchase from Publix. I will likely have to wait a year or so for this wood to season to a reasonable level. I found these Guys this morning and reviewed their rates. The called back and scheduled the delivery of a half chord of seasoned oak and it was here three hours later. Cost was $215.00 dropped off near my rack (unstacked). That's about 300 pieces of wood, that was truly seasoned an entire year. Relatively clean. I've used Brown's in Marrietta, very little wood and dirty for 2.35 a piece and cutting edge firewood which is the gold standard but at $253 dollars for 72 pieces is around 3.60 cents per piece...may as well throw dollars into the fireplace.... Bottom line look no further than these Guys for great service, good product and fair value! read more
