Literally the worst experience I've had. As a new patient i was excited to start a relationship with this doctor. I texted to confirm my appointment - then 1 hour before i called the office to confirm again. At all times my appt was confirmed. I traveled 25 min and I showed up 15 min before to ensure my paperwork as a new patient was submitted which it was. I then sat and waited til 3:30. I was the only person in the waiting room for a majority of the time. I finally went up and asked if Dr Carlos was ready to see me - the receptionist said she would check. 5 min later she came out and said it would be another hour! How rude- how unprofessional, and the receptionist had 0 remorse as if she has had experience doing this to other patients before. Would not recommend anyone go to this doctor. Unfortunately, this place is no longer what it once was. Primary reason for that is Dr Kauffman no longer practices there or anywhere (NAPC says he's on "permanent administrative leave". Which I interpret as "forced retirement".) So you're left with a dysfunctional front staff, a name change/buy out (it's now called SE Medical Group), extreme billing mistakes and over charges, lack of coordination and zero organization and 1 doctor (Pray) who really could care less about you - perhaps part of that perception is overworked - and a NP, Anna (whom I've never seen). As painful as a search for a good doctor is, I can save you the trouble on trying this one. Things change, I get that. But the specialness is now gone unfortunately. read more

If you are a black woman, please save yourself and do not go to this location. Not only was I not contacted when my results were abnormal for my thyroid. This is the 3rd abnormal test with no next steps from this location. I was told that my symptoms sound like I am pre-diabetic though my symptoms were very broad. They didn't even ask me my eating habits to make that assumption, it was almost as if they thought "Black + Diabetes". The doctor was disconnected and cold. The billing department here is an absolute scam. Last year, I went in for an annual checkup which was considered preventative care under my insurance and should have been completely covered. I get a bill two months later charging $93. After leaving many voicemails and trying to treat their department, they said that the cost was the medication refills. If I knew at the time that it was going to cost me nearly $100 to refill existing medication, I would have declined. This year, I went in again for my annual check up and I made sure I didn't ask any questions or get any refills or do anything. Still I got a charge for $56. I will not be returning here. Saw Dr. Kauffman for two years, and I think he is great. Unfortunately experienced a myriad of issues with other staff. Front desk, nurses and corporate billing representatives almost universally exhibited not only indifference to me (and observed with other customers/patients) but too often unveiled contempt for their clients. Dr. Prays is the absolute BEST. I've been seeing him for almost 5 years and recommend him to everyone I know. He truly cares about his patients and their overall well-being. North Atlanta Primary Care is, first and foremost, a scam. Doctors don't listen and don't provide adequate care. Staff don't listen and don't respond to communication in any form. Their technology is old and buggy, both that used by the doctors and their online "platform". Rest assured that at no point will your health get in the way of their bottom line. They will do their utmost to make sure their profits are maximized. Expect unexpected charges for whatever they decide to do without asking you. Don't expect it to be explained or make any sense. For a couple years, I went to the NAPC in Alpharetta. I decided to switch to the West Paces location. I wanted to see a younger female doctor and was happy with her. She then went on permanent maternity leave. This happened again with the only other female doctor there. In order to make things easier, the last time I went, I just saw the new younger male doctor there. He was okay, but what he said about certain medications I was on really rubbed me the wrong way. (Keep in mind, this was just a visit for refills, not to discuss anything else.) He said maybe I should try not taking the medications. First, I've been on these medications for 6 years. I do need them to function in everyday life. Second, I've never had a doctor say that to me. My last doctor expressed to me that it's ok and some people need certain medications. It's not a bad thing! Even my father, who is a physician, said he should not have said that. So if you're reading this, maybe do not give your unsolicited advice to other females dealing with the same issues. It's not wanted. Especially if you have no idea what their medical history is. Also good luck calling in for refills. I was supposed to get a refill last month. Called twice. Haven't heard a thing. Good thing I have extras, or I would be SOL. If you call and wait to talk to someone, you will be on permanent hold. No one picks up the phone. If you leave a message, no one calls back. If you look at reviews at other locations, this is also the case. Seriously, do not bother with any NAPC office. I don't leave reviews like this EVER. BEST DOCTOR EVER! Dr. Richard Kauffman is the best doctor ever! I drive from Alpharetta, Georgia to West Paces Ferry just because I love this doctor and how he cares for his patients. Best bedside manner, he listens and HEARS you, he goes the second mile when you have a special medical needs or request (like needing in-home services). My husband HATED doctors. I recommended he see Dr. Kauffman. After he met with Dr. Kauffman he never hesitates to go when it is time for an appointment. My husband had horrible experiences with doctors until Dr. Kauffman. If you plan on going to North Atlanta Primary Care at the West Paces location, make sure you do NOT see Dr. Jensil P. Daniel. She is completely incompetent and judgmental. She has taken over for Dr. Reena Patel, but is far from Dr. Patel's level of professionalism. Dr. Patel prescribed sleep medication when she was at NAPC and Jensil refuses to refill the prescription without an appointment and suggested that a drug test is needed. This is medication that I've been taking for about a year now. Jensil would rather treat a patient like a criminal because of a sleep problem than ensure continuity of treatment. This particular medication needs to be gradually stepped down instead of just stopped. My family will no longer give any business to NAPC. Three patients lost because of Dr. Jensil. read more

Come here if you want to spend months dealing with billing issues and have no one call you back. Want to message the office manager using the portal? That function doesn't work either. I chose this practice as my PCP because of the good reviews and proximity to my office, but I seriously regret the decision. My first provider was gone pretty quickly and I've had so many billing issues with a routine annual physical that I will never be back. Not to mention the second provider I saw never called me about the results of my physical, even though there were a couple of items on there that concerned me. This practice is a mess. The front office is understaffed. They are a private office and focused on expanding, yet struggling to provide care for their existing clients. My insurance information was incorrectly added so claims weren't filed correctly in March 2019. I physically went to the office to resolve in July. In August, called/emailed the office 5 times in one week and the only person to respond was the physician. Since then, I have spoken to someone in billing, labs, business manager and everyone passes me off to another person. The lack of quality in all of these areas leaves room for great concern in the quality of health care they are providing. read more

I would give this practice a minus one if I could. Dr. Kauffman was great. But I received a call in June that I needed to have a " Medicare wellness" visit and I scheduled it. This is what that visit was, on the phone: a very incompetent young nurse asked me a few questions "are you depressed?" "how much do you drink" the same questions asked by the nurse during my regular visit ( once a year) in October. Then a completely different Doctor ( Dr.Nettey) FaceTimed me and suggested I take a multivitamin. Skip ahead to October. I have my regular visit and I am asked the same questions. I am billed for this visit in December. I pay it.Now skip to March 2021 -- 9 months after the FaceTime -- and I am being charged $325.09 for that face time because it was not approved. I did not ask for it. i did not want it. I got nothing out of it. I did it because i received a call that it was required by Medicare.I can't get a call back from the practice billing department to discuss it and I can't get the office manager to respond to my emails or calls but the bill keeps coming. I am looking at ruining my credit or paying this, which I really cannot afford, and which cost more than my quarterly supplemental insurance. A few years ago I had an orthopedic issue that required scans and it didn't cost this much.I hope everyone reads this. i am losing sleep over this. I was never depressed before, dear people at NAPC but I am now. You are trying to make me go without my medication because I will not have any money to pay this uncalled for, unasked for, and completely without value charge. read more

Dr. Kauffman is as good as it gets. I work in the medical field and had a chronic cough that I absolutely could NOT get rid of for SIX WEEKS!! I called NAPC and was able to obtain a same day appt. Dr. Kauffman was extremely knowledgeable as well as professional and courteous. I never felt "rushed" at all during my visit. Best of all he knocked out the cough within three days!! NAPC -Ive been with them over 10 years. As they have evolved as a biz, they are suffering as a medical provider. It's all about the practice, the revenue, the bottom line. I have been badgered about annual physical exams that I dont need, & then when I have complied they rush you through a "process" and act irritated when you ask questions. "You need to make another appointment for that" was the response to a general inquiry. Back to the bottom line....I have a prescription with them for a commonly prescribed med. They write it for a 30 day supply, with 1 refill. Which means every two months I am chasing NAPC to call in a refill. Thats after I am forced to schedule in with them every 6 months to review my prescription. Gotta generate that revenue. I recently shared with them my frustration of being required to schedule in when there is nothing wrong with me, when I am just trying to request a simple refill. Enter the all knowing Dr Reena Patel. I was copied on an internal communication where she identified me as "rude" and that she would not see me, and didnt want me on her schedule. Reena, I am going to work with you on this. I will ensure to never be on your schedule again. I will ensure to never be on NAPC schedule again. During a past appointment, I found you to be an overly chatty know it all, a bit rude yourself, and quite condescending. There is a fine line between confidence and arrogance, you crossed it. Terrible service! This review goes back a year ago. The doctor ordered a biopsy at Northside hospital and gave us the order so the hospital can send the results to their office which takes 48 hrs to fax. We kept calling the hospital and they said they sent it but the office never received it. It turns out they had the wrong fax number on their website and on the form! When I called to complain, the representative hung up on me! Very rude and unprofessional. It took them 3.5 weeks to call with the results of the biopsy! Terrible and I dont advice anyone to go there. read more

Can't even begin to tell you how bad the billing service is. Pay attention to your bill. Charged for services not done. Took almost a whole year to fix and I'm so confused I just ended up paying the bill. They also called to tell me they deposited a check not payable to them but for another doctors office in the same building that I go to and they couldn't refund the check. Said they applied it to my account but never showed up on any of my statements and I still had to pay the other doctors office. Last visit with a brand new PA didn't help at all! read more

I had been seeing Dr. Patel and was extremely happy with the care and doctor/patient relationship I had with her. She recently has left the practice. I wanted to continue my relationship at this facility and asked if there was a doctor that was taking on some of Dr. Patel's patients. I was told there was a Dr. Jensil Daniel. I made an appointment to establish a new doctor/patient relationship with her. This young woman was rude, arrogant, condescending and then when I had the audacity to speak up for myself while she was lecturing me on a medication I have been taking for years under Dr. Patel's instruction, apparently got so angry, later sent me an email that I could see another doctor. I wish Dr. Patel the very best, but I miss her already. I will never go back to this facility and Dr. Daniel has a lot to learn about treating people. read more

I chose to change my healthcare provider from Emory to NAPC because I was tired of the large business bureaucracy of Emory Healthcare and I could never get personal care. If I had a billing or health question, I would just be transferred from department to department. I received an ad in the mail for the new location for NAPC in West Paces and decided to get my annual physical done at this location. The West Paces office had just opened a couple months prior and everything was very nice and new from the waiting room furniture to the medical equipment. I did not have to wait at all for my appointment and my first impression of the practice was excellent when Dr. Kauffman himself began performing the preliminary steps of the physical (family history questions etc.) because the nurse was busy. The physical was extremely thorough compared to previous annual physicals. I actually felt like I was a patient here rather than a number and the care I received from Dr. Kauffman was phenomenal. He took his time and made sure that he covered all the bases and also ensured I was fully informed throughout the process. The nurse and staff were also very professional. The patient portal for Emory was answered by nurses but for NAPC, correspondence is done directly with Dr. Kauffman. I am glad to have a new primary care physician who I can trust and know that I can get a hold of easily when necessary. read more

I really like the physician however am concerned the medical assistants refer to themselves as nurses. This is not only illegal according to the Georgia state nurse practice act but lacks integrity. There is a huge difference in liscensure and education. I have total respect for medical assistants and they should be proud to identify as such when they introduce themselves to patients. read more

Dr. Kaufman is great! He takes time to listen to questions and I have never felt rushed. In fact, on my first visit for a physical Dr. Kaufmann spent at least 45 min with me in the exam room going over history, questions I had, plus the physical. The new upgraded patient web portal is great and easy to use. I can log on and see all my info (visit reports, medications, vitals, etc. Dr. Kauffman is always quick to respond to a question or comment when contacted through the patient portal and I can easily refill medications and change/make appointments. Also, the lab is right there in the office, which is very convenient. A great office and a great doctor. read more

I was joking with my husband the other week about finding a doctor on Yelp because it's been so hard to find a doctor I really like AND they're good. I actually did go on Yelp to discover Dr. Reena Patel. The reviews are accurate about the location, staff, parking, etc. * lets start with the location- it was easy to get off the interstate and pop up the first hill to the hospital. *staff- the receptionist was friendly and got all of my information quickly. The waiting room was so clean and up-to-date. The nurse was personable (e.g., complimenting my eyelashes). She was quick and yet thorough. When Dr. Patel came in shortly after she sincerely had an interest in my health and concerns. She demonstrated active listening and took notes on everything I shared. * parking- my only concern with parking was that I had to pay $6.00 for a quick visit. There is plenty of parking and it's near the office though. read more
