I ended up really liking this place. The vibe was chill, fun karoake spot. Drinks were reasonable, 2 pool tables. They have a huge connect four game to play. Overall just a good spot. Staff was pleasant including security. Parking isnt really an issue, if you cant find parking in the parking lot there is some street parking available. read more

It's a dive bar. I was there for a music event and had a great time. Bar was very full. It was easy to get a drink. I don't think they had servers so you had to order at the bar. No big deal. My cocktail was good. The patrons were pleasant. Parking was easy. The bouncer was a good guy, saving my water bottle for me because I had it in my purse accidentally and you can't take that in. I felt safe inside. read more

As a professional musician for 58yrs from LA, the vibe is very warm and friendly like family, the food is great, my handicapped wife of 32yrs loved the huge clean handicapped restroom, and it's only a few minutes from home, so the North Bar is our new watering hole that we love and enjoy very much . read more

A great dive bar with super friendly staff! It is a bit small, not many tables or chairs, a lot of people were standing but if you don't mind that you're good to go. Great, lively crowd. Karaoke was super fun and the KJ was great! I saw a couple reviews saying cash only but that isn't true, they take card as well. Decent prices on drinks, they have flavored Red Bull and they even have Jell-O shots! A couple of pool tables and games like giant connect 4 on a table. Overall a fun place. read more

I went to this bar couple weeks ago to shoot pool and it was a very nice clean bar but the best part of it all is the pool tables are brand new so were the sticks and balls. It's rare to find a pool hall with good tables and sticks. The bar tender was a real cool guy very accommodating. Our band 'auditioned' during open mic night, for an opportunity to play live on Saturday nights, as instructed by the booking manager. We played 4 songs, which were very well received by the audience. However, the Booking manager was too busy talking to her friends outside, and only caught the last 1 1/2 songs. I then followed up with her to perhaps book a night, but she is now ghosting us. THE ENTIRE EXPERIENCE WAS LESS THAN PROFESSIONAL. If I end up getting a call back I may change my review to reflect it. read more

It's been a few years since we've been here and am glad that we decided to stop by for a beer or two. The place has been cleaned up quite a bit since back in the day, and retains the wonderful bar service this place always had. Demographics are similar to the past, generally 30s+ crowd, so no drama. Beer was ice cold, and quite the value for a Sunday afternoon visit. The biggest change was they now accept credit cards, although we paid cash because that's what we expected. First time coming to north bar, saw that it was the best in Escondido according to a magazine we read. It was a slow Monday and Customer service was terrible. Felt no sense that he wished us to be there or wants us to return. The other customers were cool. They have 2 pool tables and good for groups. But man, am I upset. read more

It's nice that this bar has live music, but the smoking section right in front of the entrance is absolutely disgusting. You have to pass all the smokers to get inside. I am really not a fan of that. I recommend they make a smoking section out back. read more

They have regulars that think they are entitled enough to take a seat from a disabled person so that they can look good to a girl instead of giving up their seat. North Bar was a great discovery in Escondido. My friend and I are working from home most of the time and every day try to do something different after work. For me, it is also a rediscovery after long time in NorCarl. We found out about this bar because there was a flamenco-rock guitar player that was super awesome (even if actually most of the audience was not audience but pool players passively listening). I would have liked they had food (that is why I dont give 4 stars) because having to go next door and buy tacos was the only option (I had the impression I read you could eat inside). At least they were super kind to let us eat while having our beers and listening to the great show. There were also some tables outside for those who wanted to smoke or just feel the breeze after a hot day. My friend and I got a good time, everyone seemed very nice and we will be back. read more

My husband and I have been here three times and every time has been an absolute great time! Brandon and Jessica are excellent bartenders,very kind and welcoming... Jessica makes an awesome White Russian and any specialty shot we requested she was happy to make! The owner Mike is a pretty cool guy too met him a couple times and he even bought us a round friendly guy. The atmosphere is fun... a diverse crowd.. we even made some new friends! Karaoke is a blast... pricing on drinks definitely fair! They even have the game ringo my husband loves it! This is our new neighborhood bar. Came here to meet a friend Sat 9.17.22 approx 8:30pm for my first time. Was lookn for a bar that was friendly and w music, felt w ther FB page it would meet my needs. Got ther and the crowd and bartender seemed cool. Stayed til approx midnite. Hada blast! Jus now Ive found my receipt for my beers and notice the 2nd shift (female)bartender had charged me more for the SAME EXACT beer! So unless someone frm this business gets back to me and gives me a legit reason for this, I wil keep this post up and SHARE it. And it's not the amount of money it's the principle. Stopped in for my first time after work and was greeted by friendly "regulars". The bar was attentively clean and so were the restrooms. Over all chill and safe environment. I've been coming to North Bar for years now and I still stand by my review from a few years back. The Bartenders ALL are good at what they do, they are friendly as are the security staff. I always feel welcome and safe when I am here. From Sunday funday, karaoke, to open mike nights and all the other things going on at North Bar it's always a good time, with great drinks, drink specials, and nice friendly people to socialise with. This is the best dive bar ever! They set up an area with outdoor seating. They have different live music throughout the week. 20 different beers on draft and a full bar. Stopped in here yesterday afternoon with some friends on the way to our fantasy football draft event. Nice dive bar. Many folks were present, seemed like mostly locals. Everyone seemed friendly. They had Negra Modelo beer on draft which made me a believer. The woman bartender was friendly and fast. We were in a hurry so only had two rounds and left. Beer was cold. People were friendly. As I drove up I thought it was a Mexican market being that it's hidden and has 2 next to it, I wasn't 100 until I got to the door. The barred windows and singular door make it pretty tough for fast escapes and getaways. It reminds me of home....er my home bar OMTI. Cash bar, beat up pool tables, busted up bathrooms, but they do have this nice tall round table in the corner, but it's half blocked. Small, dark, trashy and vaguely smells like turpentine. The ventilation system is pretty good actually, it was blowing, but the quality of the air could be better. Cheap and stiff drinks. Half the time they won't' even ask if you want a short or tall cocktail and you shouldn't complain about the talls. It's about coming and having a good time and not caring about what other people think. Don't mess with me and I won't mess with you sort of vibe. Beer's on tap are actually lacking. Minimal in amounts and selection. Really more of a cheap beer and whiskey kind of bar anyhow, but with San Diego being the craft brew mecca you should pay some homage to our offerings. Heavy on the security is good and bad. Good to have, bad to know they need 6 working a Friday night. The security is friendly as are the bartenders, work quickly in that tight area. Since they don't have an outdoor patio the doorman keeps track of people who he remembers smoking or not, but at least they have a bench for them. Usually bars with that much output are constantly cleaning barware, but I never notices the suds flying here, must have a healthy stocking considering I saw a couple glasses break through the night. Chairs were pretty comfortable if you had one, but the DJ when they have one reminded me of a strip club DJ and not the good kind. I don't think I'll be returning as it's out of my way and has not keep to me, but then again for strong cheap drinks I will travel at least once. read more

If I can give zero stars I would. The only good thing about this bar is the DJ and the bartender. The bouncers are total asswholes. I had over 250 dollar taken out my purse. There were two girls that went in the bathroom after me and when I was confronting both girls I got taken out. (Kicked out) One them I knew so I know it was not her. But the so called girl that reported my purse in the bathroom sure she took it. But due to she was a regular. Main bouncer took care of her. Lied to the cops didn't know information of the other girl. If I can help and future people try a dive bar. Go to POUNDERS!! Because this place a fucking joke Go anywhere besides here!!!!. read more

Update to my review a few years ago. Now they take card, finally! But they also serve extremely watered down drinks. I am a person who HARDLY EVER drinks. With that being said, no joke, 1 drink at Applebees gets me tipsy. It's pretty pathetic. I had THREE drinks here and didn't even feel a tiny bit tipsy. And they were about $8 a drink. Such a waste of an night out, which I never do. Waste of an uber and all that. It's a total dive bar and small area for seating. I'm giving 2 stars cause I remember karaoke was fun here. There is a choice of not just beef, but also impossible, gluten free, and grass fed meats. All burgers are cooked to medium unless you specify otherwise. Easy to order-just go to the counter and order, pick a seat and wait for your meal. The interior dining area has plenty of seating and restrooms in the back. The outdoor patio looks nice enough for when it's a nice cool night, it is covered as well. Anyway, we'll be back since the menu looks super inviting because there are other choices besides burgers and the best thing is that they use a lot of local, fresh ingredients! I declined that table and found something more suitable and comfortable with better lighting towards the rear. I immediately began by ordering a half carafe of chianti which came filled to the brim. I also requested some bread. The waitress brought out a couple of empty plates and small dish of butter packets. No bread, but I have butter. Go figure. For my dinner I ordered the Lasagna with meat sauce (half-order) and a meatball. The bread wound up coming out with the meal. The lasagna and meatball were good sized portions, but nothing came out properly hot. Not even the serving dishes. Everything was just varying degrees of lukewarm to warm. This is a problem that plagues most Filippi's in my experience. Poway is probably the worst. Aside from the food temps, everything was tasty and flavorful. While there are other Italian establishments in the area, this one continues to offer fairly reasonable prices and expanded operating hours which I appreciate.

I like the new location for some reasons like easier parking, inside lineup which is good in cold or rainy weather, etc. It's still small on the scale of some clubs, so you won't be too far away from the action. Usual two-item minimum, which is standard. They kept the pizza menu from before, so decent options for food. My friends ordered breadsticks, and those were pretty good. My usual at comedy is a dessert and a coke, so I tried the chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. It was good, a large portion, and the raspberry helped cut through the intense chocolate flavor. It looked like a much better deal than the piece of cheesecake that the next table ordered. They have free offers for people on the mailing list from time to time, and some larger name comedians. Our show was postponed last-minute, so they gave us free admission to the replacement show.

So four of us walked into this bar and it was almost like I heard a record scratch, music stop and everyone turned to look at us. Probably beause we didn't fit in with the ghetto style that was a major theme in this bar. Ok, I love dive bars, but this was seriously the strangest group of people at one bar I have ever seen! A questionable group of thugs in the corner, townies who are SUPER serious about their piercing karoeke skills, greasy pool sharks with missing teeth, and the oh-so-popular desperates looking to get laid. Oh, and how could I forget the slimy child molester type who sat by himself and stared at my friend and I the entire time! The only plus to this bar was the cheap beer. We left after one. read more

I just want to say thanks to the staff at the North Bar for making my birthday an enjoyable experience. The bartender's are awesome and they really went out of their way to make sure I had fun. The Guy working made me something called a stoplight for my birthday..Things were kind of blurry after that...I came here about a year ago and really didn't care for it. Now it seems like the crowd has totally changed, much younger, funner, and cuter.... Unbelievable the difference a year makes...I love this place. read more

Been coming here for years. I feel its time to tell everyone what I think about this place. I love north bar....almost always a good time. Beers on tap are cold the bartenders inviting and the owner friendly. I was in last night not too busy a lot of regulars in on a thursday night. They dont serve food but the place next door will deliver food right to your bar stool. I had a jack and ginger beer it was great. they have pool and music and drinks what more do you need for a thursday night. read more

I am new escondido and some friends suggested this place for drinks on my birthday tuesday because they had $2 beers. I was hesitant at first glance but once inside i was actually impressed. the bartender was super cool and gave me something called a stoplight for my birthday. I was told its a tradition. The pool tables were in good shape and lots of nice t.v.s I was puzzled as to why they didn't accept credit cards. Nice to have some place like this close to home. read more

This place can throw a party!! I went in Friday Night for a pimp n ho party! I can't remember the last time I had so much fun. Drink Specials matched the occasion and were cheap. Cum guzzler's, and blow jobs for like 2 bucks. Cheap and Good. The music fit the vibe. Definitely not a high end establishment but come on, this is escondido right. The ho behind the bar was hot!! I play in a weekly Pool League. Sometimes this hobby takes me to places I would never go regularly. North Bar is one of those places. To give some credit, they have cleaned it up recently. But seriously, don't go here unless you like hanging out with toothless bridge trolls that smell like cabbage. read more

He paid with a credit card and left a cash tip and then we headed into the event. When the credit card bill arrived, the charge was $48. Ummmm.... What? I wanted him to call the bar before disputing the charge with the credit card. I figured management would want to know their bartender added a $33-plus tip to his bill (on top of the cash tip he left) and have the ability to issue a credit and make it right. They said they'd locate the receipt and get back to him. He called again, maybe 5 days later, and they basically said the same thing. It's been another five days. He still hasn't heard from them. I recommend avoiding this establishment. Or at least don't use a card if you do go. Pay cash so you can't be massively overcharged. So disappointed in management for not even calling us back.
