    dog friendly patio!

love this pub! the servers & bartenders are very friendly, they have a good variety on their menu for a cheeky pub lunch & the guinness is pretty tasty! I love the area because I can just stroll around after and visit all the little shops nearby. They also have a lot of events and live music!

The fat, delicious Reuben sandwich at DZ Akins in San Diego at about the same price.

A great authentic menu and excellent alcohol options in a nice Irish pub ambiance, including live music even on weekdays. I had the Reuben sandwich and it was very delicious. But there wasn't much meat on it and the fries, which dwarf the sandwich, look golden and crispy but were mostly too soft. I'd ask for them to be lightly well done if I get anything with fries there again. Overall, the value is just not there. For $21.00 they could easily add a little more meat to the sandwich--like in the attached photo of a DZ Akins Reuben sandwich at about the same price. The O'Sullivan's meat is the pulled rather than sliced type, but the sliced I had is just as tasty and a bit more tender and juicy. A pint of Guiness, included in the bill with a customary 18% tip (just for pouring a pint), costs $12.40. So for a sandwich and two beers it was $50.00 not well spent.

I've enjoyed going to this location over the years. They have delicious food (I love Shepards pie and Irish stew). The beers are always cold, and what you expect from a pub which makes me very happy. It can get a little busy when there is live music, but totally worth it. It has a great, authentic pub feel as well. There are a few seats out front where you can watch Grand Ave., and there is a patio outback as well. I've had really good luck with the service too. My food always comes out hot and the beer is not, so I take it as a win. For a good time with Irish fare and drinks, this is the place.

Oh man. The food was so good at this place. Service was good too, they weren't very busy so we got plenty of attention. Why low stars? Eh... the place is dingy, the bathroom was DIRTY and when I turned on the light in the RR a roach scurried away. The Great - The food was so good The Good - The drink prices were excellent! The Bad - The place is dingy which just makes it feel dirty The Ugly - The super dirty floors and walls in the restroom and the cockroach. I know that pests are a challenge for restaurants. Especially when you share walls with other tenants and are in an old building. BUT... although all of this, the floors and walls in the restroom can be cleaned with soap and water. There is no excuse. The roach only drove home the message. I really liked the food, but unfortunately, won't be back.

Great place and delicious food. Great pub. Came here on a chilly night and I was craving fish and chips and black and tan. Perfect

Horrible service. I was waiting for my burger for a whole hour while my whole party was eating. The burger came out unseasoned, dry as hell, and very over cooked. My party had many comments that the fries had no salt, the food had no seasoning, and the portions were small and lacking any kind of presentation. Drinks were ok but don't try the Irish coffee it was horrible. I would never go back here

This place has gone down hill bad. We used to go here each year for our wedding anniversary. But this year was a disappointment. We spent $84 for food that tasted really bad. I ordered the beef stew that says on the menu has chunks of beef. But no chunks just a plate of what looks like not so appetizing pile of smoosh food. I was even looking for potatoes and carrots but unfortunately there were at least 3 to 4 pieces and mind you this plate is $22. My husband ordered the boiled eggs wrapped in sausage but as you can see in the picture it just seems like one piece of boiled egg cut in 6 slices and deep fried with a tasteless batter. It was a Thursday and initially we asked for the September 4th a Thursday special which states on the website is only $9 for wings, quesadillas. We asked the rude bartender and she said it was only for happy hours then why would it say on your website that it's a special for a specific day and date? and we were there before 7pm which states there 4-7. Bottom line is she didn't follow What it shows on the website. She was really rude and my husbands beer glass was empty for 15 minutes 2X. She seems like very unhappy with what she was doing. She barely smiles and didn't even try to explain anything we asked. I asked her to recommend a sweeter taste Ale and her recommendations are just wrong. She was so short that she can barely see passed the bar table. Her hair was just clamp up all crazy. It's very unpleasant looking as a bartender. Her voice was so annoying that I told my husband let's just celebrate our anniversary at home. That food, place and bartender just ruined our day.

Came for lunch and entered thru the back patio. You walk thru their hallway to get to the front of the restaurant. We were able to sit right away and took a couple of minutes for someone to take our order. The service was fairly decent. We didn't wait long for our food and drinks. Curry fries were okay but burger was juicy. The place is small so I can see this place getting loud at full capacity. It's a nice pub for the area and would visit again. 3 1/2 stars but rounding to 4.

The food and drinks are OK, but they do charge a service fee, so that's a "do not return" bell for me. So I will not be returning.

For dinner I ordered the tri-tip sando. It was excellent but the chimichurri was a bit too strong so I wasn't able to taste much of anything else...the hubs liked it more than I did. The hubs ordered the Pig burger. Two patties...one beef and one pork with bacon jam, white cheddar and bread/butter pickles. The patties were cooked perfectly and the sweet bacon jam was a perfect addition (I'll be ordering this next visit) Both sandwiches came with thin sliced fries. We sat at the bar and Sean was again our server...very attentive and friendly!

The online descriptions appear to be heavily embellished (likely AI-generated), promising far more than what arrives at the table. The steak was noticeably low quality, and the cioppino, advertised with fresh bread, fish, and pasta, tasted like watered-down Campbell's soup concentrate. To make matters worse, the bathroom was filthy. While our waiter was genuinely nice, the food was a huge disappointment. For the price, it was frustrating and disheartening to pay premium rates for such a poor experience. We cannot recommend this place and will not be returning.

Pros: This spot is a good place to hang out if you're looking for a casual bar with activities like billiards and darts. The vibe is fun without being overly packed, which made it easy to enjoy the space. They have darts (which are free, you just leave your ID), a pool table, and a music queue system where you can pick songs to play, which adds an interactive element to the night. I didn't try the food but the drinks were solid and did not disappoint. The overall energy of the place was welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. It's one of those spots where you can relax, hang out, and have a good time. Cons: Parking here is probably the biggest downside. The lot is really small and gets packed quickly, so I wouldn't recommend relying on it. We parked nearby after eating at Copper Kings Burgers and just walked over, which ended up being way easier. Verdict: If you're looking for a fun, chill bar in San Marcos with games, music, and good drinks, this is a great spot to check out. Just plan ahead for parking, but overall it's definitely worth it and I would come back again!

But I can't tell if most people were just in the bar area - we were able to get a booth! The place was nice and loud since every one was having a good time. Several parties of 3+ and I saw 1 party of 6. They were doing an explorer menu from Yucatan. Interesting thing to do during Black History Month - I won't lie. I was surprised to see it. But we ordered from that menu. We ordered the fried plantain that came with a sauce and cilantro, sausage and pepper soup, and the BBQ pork. I enjoyed everything except for the plantain. They were basically a huge disc that was slightly crunchy. I was not expecting that since if I want a crunchy plantain, I will eat actual plantain chips. The soup was fantastic! It was a bit spicy but not overwhelming and full of flavor. Wish I ordered a bowl instead of a cup. And last but not least, the BBQ pork was very good. Served on lettuce as well, so if you are doing keto you can omit eating the tortillas that came with the dish. It also had pickled red onions and a salsa. The salsa was mild and with everything in the taco, flavors were balanced. We also ordered 6 Cajun wings. But today, they didn't seem as flavorful, a pity really. A grilled cheese was ordered but with hamburger meat inside. That seemed good and it came with fries. Washed all of this down with a sour that was called Boozy Berry & my fiancé had a West Coast beer. Food was enjoyable, atmosphere was fun. We will be back again.
