Memorial Day had a lot of interesting side effects for us especially me dealing with fallen soldiers in my family. It was my second time at O'Sullivan's. The first time I had fish and chips and a Guinness. The food was excellent service top-notch. Memorial Day we went in feeling a little rowdy with emotions surging. We sat outback because we were a little rowdy we didn't want to bother anybody inside. Another table of a bunch of rowdy people next to us so we felt pretty comfortable out there. I was raised on Cottage pie and Shepherds pie! This day, I had shepherds pie one of my favorite meals and it did not disappoint. It reminded me of home growing up. Shepherds pie was so good it took me back home in my mind. The difference between the pies if you're Irish, Shepherds pie is traditionally with lamb. From the East Coast and lastly, the Bay Area, San Francisco. I spent a lot of time at Irish Pubs. I worked on Market Street. The salads were great this day. I had one complaint that was the "Irish coffee" I can't call it Irish coffee. A cup of coffee with some sort of Irish cream poured in. More like a cocktail. Service was great. Johnny Foleys is a great pub in SF but there are so many. When back home. I'll hit my familiar pubs. I looked for Soda Bread on their menu. They have brown bread but I prefer soda bread. read more

Lived in Escondido for 9 years and this is the first time at O'Sullivans. My husband had the fish and chips with a beer, I had the corned beef hash and my son had a kid's burger. Everyone was happy with their meal/drinks. Would definitely come back to try the Shepard's pie. Their live music was also SO good. The food was delicious but I'd also come back for a drink and to listen to the music. It was a pleasant and enjoyable experience all around. Service was also great. A great authentic menu and excellent alcohol options in a nice Irish pub ambiance, including live music even on weekdays. I had the Reuben sandwich and it was very delicious. But there wasn't much meat on it and the fries, which dwarf the sandwich, look golden and crispy but were mostly too soft. I'd ask for them to be lightly well done if I get anything with fries there again. Overall, the value is just not there. For $21.00 they could easily add a little more meat to the sandwich--like in the attached photo of a DZ Akins Reuben sandwich at about the same price. The O'Sullivan's meat is the pulled rather than sliced type, but the sliced I had is just as tasty and a bit more tender and juicy. A pint of Guiness, included in the bill with a customary 18% tip (just for pouring a pint), costs $12.40. So for a sandwich and two beers it was $50.00 not well spent. read more

I just moved to the area and went for a walk of the main drag. O'Sullivan's caught my eye. I walked in and bellied up to the bar. The bartender was a cool and interesting lady, great service skills. I ordered the chorizo burrito and a couple beers. The beers on tap are damn good and the food was both filling and tasty! Looks like they have live music and they do a happy hour on the weekends. Super fun Irish Pub on Grand! We wanted to continue the night so we moved the party over here. We sat in their back patio which was nice & cozy. Service was great & friendly. They serve a variety of traditional Irish dishes such as Corned Beef & Cabbage & Bangers & Mash. They have soups, salads, seafood, steaks, sandwiches & more, something for everyone! I've enjoyed going to this location over the years. They have delicious food (I love Shepards pie and Irish stew). The beers are always cold, and what you expect from a pub which makes me very happy. It can get a little busy when there is live music, but totally worth it. It has a great, authentic pub feel as well. There are a few seats out front where you can watch Grand Ave., and there is a patio outback as well. I've had really good luck with the service too. First time visiting and they have a patio and in the hours of 5-8 it's on the shady side of Grand which was nice for me and my dog to sit outside, Tried e Guinness Beef Stew which was a bit pricey but also comes in a cup version for a bit less. I liked the bowl because it also came with a side salad which was nice a refreshing and not iceberg which I am grateful for, They also have a full bar for drink lovers. The service was great, my waitress was kind and able to get the dog a bowl of water as well. I would definitely return to try more Irish fare. read more

This place has gone down hill bad. We used to go here each year for our wedding anniversary. But this year was a disappointment. We spent $84 for food that tasted really bad. I ordered the beef stew that says on the menu has chunks of beef. But no chunks just a plate of what looks like not so appetizing pile of smoosh food. I was even looking for potatoes and carrots but unfortunately there were at least 3 to 4 pieces and mind you this plate is $22. My husband ordered the boiled eggs wrapped in sausage but as you can see in the picture it just seems like one piece of boiled egg cut in 6 slices and deep fried with a tasteless batter. It was a Thursday and initially we asked for the September 4th a Thursday special which states on the website is only $9 for wings, quesadillas. We asked the rude bartender and she said it was only for happy hours then why would it say on your website that it's a special for a specific day and date? and we were there before 7pm which states there 4-7. Bottom line is she didn't follow What it shows on the website. She was really rude and my husbands beer glass was empty for 15 minutes 2X. She seems like very unhappy with what she was doing. She barely smiles and didn't even try to explain anything we asked. I asked her to recommend a sweeter taste Ale and her recommendations are just wrong. She was so short that she can barely see passed the bar table. Her hair was just clamp up all crazy. It's very unpleasant looking as a bartender. We were able to sit right away and took a couple of minutes for someone to take our order. The service was fairly decent. We didn't wait long for our food and drinks. This is a cool little local hangout on Grand. You can tell that people come in to watch the game, or meet up with friends. It gets super busy when they're doing Cruisin Grand, because it's right in the middle of the action. I've been coming here for years, and it hasn't changed that much. Staff is friendly, if a bit overworked at times. It definitely looks like an Irish pub, and they now have the expanded outdoor seating. The food is really good. My go-tos are the potato soup, and fish & chips. I've also had the Boxty, which is fairly unusual. My friend tried the Guiness beef stew, and enjoyed it. I also like the Irish Benedict, when I come for brunch. The one thing I didn't care for was the Shepherd's Pie. This was a while ago, so hopefully it's improved. I make it myself, so I tend to be picky. It seemed like they were using tinned beef to make it perhaps. That is like corned beef, with the texture of cat food, so no thanks. Definitely give the pub a try, when you're in the area. Parking is a little easier on Grand, with the new slanted spots. read more

Love this place! There is live music on certain days and the food does not disappoint. Authentic Irish food. I had their Sheppard's pie and had to order another one because it was so good my husband ate half of it. I also think that everything is reasonably priced. Parking can be hard to find seeing as how it is located on Grand within Escondido. When there is Crousin Grand in Escondido you will more than likely have to park several blocks away. The staff is always very nice and accommodating. Even when they are packed the food comes out in a timely manner. We will be back time and time again. read more
