Beautiful sand, clear water, though the water was too cold for me for swimming. I'm spoiled with the 85° water temps in the summer! Water temps here in January are in the low 70s, with just a bit of seaweed on the shore. There's lifeguard stations here, as well as rest/change rooms, and body showers (near 5301 Collins Parking lot). Not as many hotels here, so it's a bit quieter. People respect each other's space here.

This is the beach closest to me, and I go quite often, so I may be biased, but I love North Beach. Beautiful clear-blue water. White sand. Not too crowded. Usually a quiet, chill place to relax. Plenty of restaurants and shops nearby to get pre-/post-beach nibbles, drinks, and beach supplies. Paid parking lots located throughout the neighborhood. There are clean, easily accessible public bathrooms in the building behind the volleyball courts at the 72 St entrance to the beach and at the playground at 65 St. Showers (recently updated in 2019) are located at the 69, 71st, and 72 Sts entrances.

Love this beach and now they give you 2 hours free parking. Not sure if that's an after 6 thing or not. But woohoo

If you're looking for something less touristy and a better feel of where the locals go when they want to go to the beach ? this is where you should be, if you're looking for loud and flashy Miami head to south beach. We had a lot of fun here because it wasn't as crowded and rowdy, the kids were able to play on the beach and have fun. Great memories that will be cherished! Thank you!

Can't even go in the water so sad...

So disappointed....This has always been our go to beach in the Miami Beach area however Miami Beach needs to start cleaning up the coastline every morning to scoop up the seaweed the way Fort Lauderdale beach does so that be h goers can actually enjoy the water and so that the stench in the air will go away. If they don't take clean up a bit more seriously I think more and more visitors will stick to visiting Fort Lauderdale Beach instead.

Before coming to Miami, I did some research on the best beaches in the area. Many people recommended North Beach and I was not disappointed! My Airbnb was located across the street from the 73 street entrance which was super convenient. I only had a beach towel, but they had beach lounge chair rentals though I decided to save some money and just lay on my towel. This beach is just lovely! The water is very turquoise blue and the sand is soft. It had a more laid back vibe. Mostly locals and some European tourists. There were some volleyball courts and a nice walkway adjacent to the beach which would make for a nice stroll. Lots of metered parking and many restaurants and cafes to sit outside and enjoy the sun. Overall, a nice beach and I was very happy to be staying right across the street from the entrance!

I've been taking advantage of this slightly cooler weather to visit the different beaches in Miami. NorthBeach is amongst one of my favorites to visit. It's a great way to get away from the traffic and party crowds that usually accompany Miami Beach. My favorite time to go is around 2:30-3pm. The suns still out and you can get a tan, but within an hour or 2 it's already going down, and you've got this tremendous breezy, chilly weather that's quite enjoyable. Pros: 1. Mon-Fri parking is easily attainable. I can't vouch for the weekends. 2. Sand is pretty clean, and it's a short walk from parking. 3. The crowd tends to be more laid back, and it's not noisy at all. 4. Lifeguard towers galore to keep you safe. 5. Around 3pm Cons: 1. Some days the water can get a little "seaweedy." 2. A lot of the areas don't have a dedicated shower/bathroom area. So prepare to use the ocean as your toilet. 3. Not too many restaurants/bars within walking distance so you'll have to opt to find parking again.

North Beach is one of my favorite beaches in Miami. It's quiet and clean. Not many tourists are around. Many parking spots can be found right in front of the beach. It's convenient for a family with young children. The distance from the parking lot to the beach is shorter compared to South Miami Beach. Children can change clothes in the car. Manny fresh water fountains are available near by. There are many restaurants located across the street. Food can be delivered to the beach if requested. There are lifeguards on duty during operation hours. Sunscreen can be purchased on vending machines if you forget to bring it (it's hanging on the fence). The beach is more enjoyable after low tide. (11am) The water is more clear and clean. The bottom of the ocean can be viewed clearly. Many small fishes and crabs can be found under the seaweed.

Waves on a beautiful cloudy day.

List time... Pros: 1) Almost always empty 2) Seemingly no tourists 3) Super close to my condo 4) Calm and quiet 5) A beach (gotta love the beach) Cons: 1) TRASH EVERYWHERE!!!! I often find myself spending 30 minutes picking up trash. Cigarette butts, plastic bottles, abandoned tubes, you name it. 2) Seaweed? Can I count that as a con? 3) No recycling bins 4) Did I mention the trash? Summary: North beach is great for the family, if you want peace and serenity, or want to avoid tourists. Although the trash is a bummer, the reality is south Florida is super trashy so it does not matter which beach you go to, your sure to find a used "balloon" or candy wrapper stuck to your foot at some point.

    Bite marks of sand mites!
    Angel C.

The sands are good but the beach is alot of algae and sea weeds! No matter where we go it's every where. We're surrounded by it! Looks dirty , sand mites are all over and it will give you so much itchiness in your body!

    Allison F.

If you want a proper headache-free beach day, then you'll want to bookmark North Beach now. Nearby parking is only $1/hour (10 hour limit), and you'll be walking in the sand within five minutes. There is plenty of space to lay your towel, soak up some sun, and ride the waves. My friend and I spent two days at North Beach, and I would recommend this spot to anyone looking to have the best day possible. Do as the locals do and come here.

The beach is wide, clean, and perfect for walking, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the ocean view. When you head toward the beach through Lummus Park, the stretch of green really welcomes you. It was established in 1896 and began with a pavilion and green space used for sports activities. The park was also used for political and religious gatherings near the railroad tracks and tidal marshes. In 1922, the city constructed a retaining wall to create a formal park. Warren Manning, who had worked for Frederick Law Olmsted Sr., was commissioned for the design. The 62-acre park officially opened in March 1925 and included pathways, tropical landscaping, and a wide pedestrian promenade that extended from East Flagler Street to the bay. The 1926 hurricane destroyed much of the park. A year later, the city installed a bandshell, a grotto, and a rock garden on the waterfront. During World War II, the U.S. Navy took over the park and used it as part of its critical operations in the area. In 1943, the Navy installed the Dade County War Memorial. The military returned the park to the city in 1950, but it was in a battered state. The city built a library that blocked the view of the bay, and the following two decades saw little investment in the park. In 1980, the City of Miami approved a budget of $10 million to redesign the park. Famous Japanese-American modernist artist and landscape architect Isamu Noguchi was chosen for the task. His inspiration was to create a village green for downtown Miami. He convinced the city to remove the R.C. Gardner Bandshell, which had fallen into disrepair, as well as the library, and to restore Manning's pedestrian promenade. His plan also called for adding new amphitheaters and a large fountain at the end of a promenade flowing from East Flagler Street. The busts and statues of Hispanic leaders were relocated to an area outside the park. Eventually, the project ballooned to more than $40 million, much of it paid for through grants. Noguchi passed away during the construction of the park, but the torch was passed to his longtime collaborator, Shoji Sadao, who carried out his plans and vision. Today, Bayfront Park is maintained by the Bayfront Park Management Trust, a limited agency of the City of Miami. It is smaller than when it originally opened and currently encompasses 32 acres. A highlight of the park is its stunning views of Biscayne Bay. The park is also a culturally important outdoor museum, with art and monuments that add beauty and historical perspective. The Dade County War Memorial was restored in the 1990s, and there are statues honoring Claude D. Pepper and Julia Tuttle, the "Mother of Miami." The park still contains all of the major elements of the Noguchi plan, including the centerpiece fountain, although it is currently closed for repairs. It also features the Lee and Tina Hills Playground, open lawn spaces, a sandy beach area, the tropical rock garden, and the historic waterfall from 1926. A visit to downtown Miami would not be complete without a stop at Bayfront Park. The park is within walking distance of attractions such as the Freedom Tower, Bayside Marketplace, Kaseya Center, Museum Park, and numerous restaurants and entertainment venues. If there is a downside, it is that parking in downtown Miami is scarce and expensive. I have attended many outdoor concerts here through the years, and it is also the site of the popular Ultra Music Festival every March. In June, the park will host the FIFA Fan Festival when Miami welcomes the World Cup. A recent visit found me admiring the many sculptures throughout the park. Bayfront Park is still evolving, and future plans call for new lighting, a café, and additional redesign elements. Known as "Miami's Front Porch," it remains a vital outdoor oasis of green space for residents of the surrounding towers and visitors to the city alike.
