We had a the best time lounging under palm trees in the breeze, riding bikes through here, people watching, visiting the 100 years of Art Deco World Celebration, and best all was the iguana action!!

This is a 74 acre park in South Beach running 10 blocks from 5th Street to 14th Place. On one side is iconic Ocean Drive and on the other, the Atlantic Ocean. The park is a favorite of runners, walkers, and cyclists who enjoy the paved exercise path. Park amenities include three restrooms, at 6, 10 and 14 streets. There are eighteen sand volley ball courts and two playgrounds, one for ages two to five, and a larger one for ages up to twelve. At 10th Street the park is also the home of The Miami Design Preservation League's Welcome Center. Two outdoor gym areas are located at Muscle Beach South Beach at 9th Street. Two nature inspired installations: My Equilibria's Leopard Tree and My Beast serve the dual purpose of art and exercise equipment with thirty exercise components, You can rent chaise chairs and umbrellas to sit on the beach if you want to relax or bikes and skate if you want to exercise. You can also find bootcamps and exercise classes. Across the street from the park are numerous restaurants. Lummus Park hosts many events throughout the year. These include weekend artisan markets, Art Basel Miami Beach satellite fairs, Miami Design Preservation League's Art Deco Weekend, the Hyundai Air & Sea Show, and the South Beach Wine & Food Festival's Grand Tasting Village. A new improvement to the park is one hundred and fourteen new dimmable LED lighting, which improves visibility at night while reducing the amount of light visible from the beach which protects the sea turtles. When you think of South Beach you can't help but think of Lummus Park. It is the place to see and be seen by sunbathers, supermodels, and celebrities. It has been used for the backdrop of many television programs and film scenes. There is is nothing better than just sitting on a bench as you people watch in the beautiful Florida sunshine.

Beautiful, with absolutely picturesque lifeguard towers.. nice and quiet and many restaurants nearby. Clean and a great place to relax.

Great place. You could walk your dog, watch some green parakeets here, and there's also a gym. Overall, it's a great place to visit, located right near the Miami Beach and Ocean Drive.

To the best of my tourist understanding, this is the beach you want to stick with if you want to stay near all the action. It's right across from the craziness and party vibes of Ocean Drive, separated only by a crosswalk, essentially. We were at the beach by Ocean & 10th both days we went, and a couple things surprised me. 1.) I did not see an overwhelming amount of disgustingly beautiful people. I'll admit I was really intimidated to be in a swimsuit on South Beach, but I found that there really weren't those swarms of flawless, oiled-up tan people in perfect shape judging me. It could be because we were there around the fourth of July and all the locals were vacationing somewhere else? Or maybe the time of day we went, which was between 3-5pm. Either way, it was a pleasant surprise, as my preconceived notions about South Beach did initially have me uncomfortable. Another thing that surprised me is that the water really wasn't that clear? Again, could have been the time of day, or the weather, but all I know is that one of my friends was down by Nikki Beach for her bachelorette and judging by her pics, the water over there was basically totally clear. Weird. Could've always been a filter... But all in all, this was an acceptable beach - clean and not too crowded when we were there. Note: the Uber drivers in this area are total d*cks if you try to get into their car looking even slightly wet. Make sure you cover up your swimsuit before even trying to call one.

We went to this park for the SOBE seafood festival. Every single tent had great food vendors with delicious treats for all of us. We had amazing and fresh seafood from different great restaurants. The drinks were excellent too, my two favorites were Jack Daniel's and the chardonnay wine from WS vineyards. They also had fun activities for kids and nice live music. Thank you!!

So glad I attended this event!! This was all I thought it would be and more!! The weather was perfect Miami weather... blue skies, hot sun with a slight breeze... very slight!! This event is one not to miss! The venue, the people, the vendors and we can't forget the service and security... kudos to all!! They have pulled off a magnificent event !!! The food was extremely fresh and abundant. The drinks were flowing from juice to lunch liquor. There were orderly lines that moved quickly and the patrons were all funny and friendly!! There were a lot of families playing with strategically placed games. Beach balls were tossed around while people ate, drank and socialized. It was such a blessed feeling to have experience such true eclectic atmosphere. If you are available next year don't miss this event!

Lummus Park is one of the areas that make the hassle of going to South Beach, what with its horrid parking situation worth the trip. It has a beautiful beach, perfect ocean waters, located in the most "happening" of areas, great for people watching and loaded with visitors from all over the world. It's truly an international point of destination. Though it has a reputation of being for the "young and beautiful"....nothing wrong with a little eye candy to feed on.....it's far from being their exclusive domain. The really great thing about Lummus besides the beach and park itself is its close proximity to all of the restaurants and thrills located just across Ocean Drive. Everything is within easy walking with an availability shops, bars or anything you might need buy or want to do.

Great park / beach located in the heart of Miami Beach. Park has a long stretch of grass, kid playground, walking paths, etc. It's a must park or beach to check out if visiting Miami Beach.

Since it is never ending Red Tide at the poluted Gulf on West Coast of FL, I was forced to get my "Sea Therapy" on East Coast. The weather was gorgeous and over all it was a good trip. The place has litteraly everything for the convenience. The parking fee was high, however coming from Los Angeles it was not really big deal at all. It was available that all it mattered!! It was raining when I arrived, but it gave me a chance to do a little shoping in South Beach. Right after the rain the water in Atlantic was hot, so nice to swim in. It was clear so I could see gorgeous corals and shells below. It is littery shea shell heaven for a collector. I picked a few while I was drying. The beach was clean. I am not sure how they are managing to it with such heavy traffic, but jt was. The beach was not too empty not toouch crowd. The music was complementing the sound of the waves. Everything was so perfect, that I did not wamted to leave. It is a must stop when I go to the other coast to see my friends. Be back soon!

Miami Beach..I'm almost tempted to take away at least one star because your parking situation, mandatory tips at restaurants and overzealous traffic enforcement.. But I just can't. Where else can you go lay out in the sun in the middle of February? Or meet and chat up with a girl who says she's the girlfriend of a world renowned DJ but she'll still rub suntan oil on you? Where else is the sand pure and white, and decent surf? Or watch a real life Miami Vice episode in the distance (real US Coast Guard chasing a real life smuggler)? Or people watch..make out..heck even read a book? Miami Beach, I love ya!

    Bruce K.

Beach! Babes! I'll stop there because there is little more that needs to be said. Parking is a pain. If you're lucky, you can find a metered spot and charge it up by credit card. You're not going to find a free space. You just aren't. I did notice that at least some of the beach area is "tops optional", so if you have little ones who don't need to see boobies then you may want to rethink your visit.

    Spencer A.

Iconic Miami Beach public park- great for running, racing and people watching. Just off Ocean Drive with plenty of parking on the streets and nearby garages. Incredible people watching- and a must for those wanting to experience the real South Beach Ocean Drive scene.

Douglas was an author and environmentalist whose seminal book The Everglades: River of Grass brought awareness to the importance of this ecosystem preserving it from development. She worked with Ernest Coe to have the Everglades named a National Park. Douglas was a tireless champion for the environment and so it seems appropriate that a number of parks have been named in her honor, including this beach park in Miami Beach. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Ocean Beach Park has a limited number of metered spaces along the street. Parking can be frustrating depending on how busy the park is. It is worth the effort though because the park is a leafy green oasis filled with tall shade trees. As I was walking around I couldn't help but notice the trees were filled with squeaky Monk Parakeets. The centerpiece of the park is an enclosed, large, shade covered playground with poured in place surface surrounded by benches. There are two play sections, one for ages 2-5, and one for ages 5-12. The playground has slides and climbing structures. Other park amenities include a shower, restrooms, and a water fountain. Surrounding the park are large paved paths ideal for walking and biking. The park offers direct beach access and at the perimeter you can pick up an electric City Bike which I think is the best and most fun way to see South Beach and avoid the parking headache. With the playground, beach, and all the other amenities, this is a great place for a family outing.

The Pirate Park Playground was built by Superior Playgrounds who was tasked with designing a one-of-a-kind pirate theme play space to spark creative play and provide a safe place for budding buccaneers to play. The playground is made of recycled material like milk jugs and was created to be corrosion resistant so that it would always look good in this salt water coastal ecosystem. Located only 100 feet from the beach, the playground is fenced in for safety. There is a large pirate ship for older children to climb on and slide down and a smaller area for younger privateers. The crows nest with rigging looked especially fun to climb. Other playground play structures include clownfish and blue tang fish spring riders, a custom octopus playhouse, and palm tree shade. There are four triangle sail shades and poured-in-place safety surfacing to protect little knees and bottoms. Bathrooms are nearby. During my visit the playground was filled with kids and their families enjoying the nautical theme. This unique play space fosters imagination and physical movement for the youngest North Beach residents and visitors.

He liked to take in the view from the park and the group recorded at Criteria Studios now the Hit Factory in North Miami in the late 70's and early 80's. Maurice also lived in the area. His former home sold for 13 million in 2012. In 2007, the year the name change took place at the park, it received $75,000 worth of improvements including landscaping and a three ring mosaic that was created by artist Dale Bryant. It was added to the park near the sea wall. The yellow ring represents peace, red is love, and blue is tranquility.
