I've been able to enjoy a walking tour of Miami Beach along the boardwalk/Bay walk at various points at various times. Starting at South Pointe Park, and extending northward it's a scenic route and back alley to our city. For 99 percent of the route, it's your basic concrete sidewalk. However, at key points, such as the entrance to full moon Beach and South Beach itself there are various amenities such as a playground equipment and volleyball courts. Many of the big hotels also have access directly to it if you ever need to make a discreet entrance. Of course it is awesome steps away from the sand! read more

Beautiful place to take a walk, bike, run, skate etc. it's long and uninterrupted, while connecting you with a lot of access points to hotels and roadways. So, much more preferable to walk this than the parallel street in my opinion. You also get the fresh sea air. At night it's lit, I see they have cameras, there is flowing traffic, but always be mindful still of your surroundings. You can see the stars, because while lit... it's not that intensely bright. As obvious as it is, the "Miami Beach Boardwalk" is arguably one of the most iconic and well-known landmarks in the United States. It stands up there with the "Golden Gate Bridge", "Grand Canyon", "Mount Rushmore", and "Niagara Falls". And when you factor in warm, tropical weather year-round combined with white sands, turquoise blue water, high-rise hotels & apartments from a distance, and a fairly clean, well-maintained atmosphere surrounding it. I consider the highlight of the boardwalk to be none other than Ocean Drive (which is now a one way street) that stretches from as far north as the Betsy Hotel to as far south as South Pointe Park. This is where you have access to walk (dog & stroller friendly) run, bike, rollerblade, or even rent a scooter. You can also venture on nearby Collins Ave. which has two way traffic. Keep in mind that this is a very highly congested area and even walking here during peak weekend times as well as night when the bars/nightclubs are in full swing, it can get packed. However, the sandy beach area stretches a good 10 miles and there are parts that are parallel to the ocean that are much quieter. What I particularly liked is that there are food options that are easily accessible. This includes sandwich spots, cafes, desserts, and a ton of sit down options. You can also find stores to purchase clothes, medicine, and all the necessities to make your day at the boardwalk as enjoyable as possible. All in all, if anyone plans on visiting the Miami, FL area, I highly recommend checking out the "Miami Beach Boardwalk". This picturesque views are as good (if not better) than what you see on postcards and on TV. With that said and done, I am giving this very popular Miami spot a unanimous five-star rating. read more

Miami! Whoa! This is a really cool public walkway that the City of Miami has lovingly installed in front of all the hotels, that runs parallel to the shore. It's a paved walkway with trashcans all along, and all kinds of things to see along the way. There's signs along the way reminding you to stay on the trail, so you don't disturb the Miami kitties that live in the bushes. Purrr! If you walk along this way, you'll see all the coolest hotels have access straight to the boardwalk. However, the 'boardwalk' is made of stone, and not boards. The beach is pretty short from the boardwalk, a walk right out on to the sand. Some of the Miami Beach hotels even have their own cabanas out there on the beach with chairs and such. It's a wonderful place to go jogging or just sorta stroll. read more

I rode a Citi Bike (see my Yelp review) on the trail and biked from 7th Street to 59th Street but the trail goes to 79th (North Beach) and beyond. Some parts the trail offer great beach views that are wonderful to catch while biking which you won't get otherwise. And on the other side of the trail you can see a glimpse of the hotel pools and parties; it is quite the spectacle. The farther north you ride, the hotels change to high rise condos. For exercise with a view, this is the place to be in Miami Beach. It's not as busy as South Beach, and the walkway is nice and wide. No issues with people on bikes or roller blades because there's lots of space. It's nice to view all of the pools and patios of the hotels as you walk along. I ran a half marathon at the Miami Beach Boardwalk. I write to report on that, positively, and also with a query about nomenclature. As to the race, it was "virtual." That is a pandemic invention. I had signed up for an event on Saturday morning. The organizers, however, made a mistake, which I compounded. On EventBrite, the official site, they had the wrong location (likely copied from an earlier iteration in the same series). Although the email reminder had the correct venue for the start/finish, I did what my calendar said to do. By the time I realized I was in a place far away from the intended activity, it was too late. But then I thought, well, I can just do the same distance. So I looked at what was nearby, and this seemed like a hospitable route. It was. They also had restrooms, clean, and water fountains, also clean. I used both. I started about 8:30am. It was not crowded then. By the time I finished, there were families, tourists, dog walkers, and lots of others, rendering it either festive or aggravating, depending on your interest in being surrounded. The views were good. The weather was fine, despite a bit of rain early on. I passed people playing beach pickleball, which I, from New York City, had not realized as "a thing." They were alongside others enjoying beach volleyball. It is not for me to judge how others live their lives. I wonder whether they will regret the sun exposure, given how tan they have deliberately made themselves -- less than fifty years ago, but still a noticeable phenomenon. It all seemed fine. One fellow was shouting obscenities at nobody in particular, out of maybe 250 or more, a ratio that does not seem to me too threatening in a big city. I was unsure the term "boardwalk" was appropriate. Snowbirds with whom I had lunch said, yes, that is what we call it. I see here it is listed under that word. What made me hesitate was that this is paved, not wooden. It is not, strictly speaking, "board." Nonetheless, the Miami Beach Boardwalk is worthwhile. I endorse it. read more

The weather was perfect. The sun was shining bright and there was a little breeze flowing that grazed over me, just enough to allow the sun to feel warming on my skin. I love how easy it is to access the boardwalk from the street. Parking can be scarce but if you time it right you can get a great spot. After parking, make sure you pay for a few hours so you won't have to keep checking. The boardwalk is a great place to take a stroll and enjoy the views of the beach, the water, the people, and the trees. It could also lend itself to a very romantic evening out with your love. It's a perfect place to exercise and enjoy a great jog early in the morning or evening when the sun isn't a factor. It spans to about four miles so if jogging is your thing you'll love it as you jog between the ocean and the hotels with enough room as to not be disturbed by others enjoying their moment. read more

Miami Beach Boardwalk wasn't so much a boardwalk. The sand on the beach is very small compared to the beaches up north. They also have vendors on the beach as well. Be advised there is a sign that says FREE PUBLIC PARKING upon entering it is NOT free you have to pay to park. Lastly; there will be random people going around to every other car putting their business card signs on your property which is not cool to do. I saw some that flew off some of the cars that l had to pick up so it didn't loiter. read more

I am choosing to write this review in particular to celebrate reaching the 300 reviews mark! I am obsessed with the Miami Beach Boardwalk. Really, I am. If I could, I would own a condo right on it so that it could be part of my every day routine. It was remodeled several years ago and you can now take it from 46th (Parking lot next to the Eden Roc hotel) all the way down to 5th. The wooden portion is down to 23rd and the rest is the new paved section. The paved section is technically not a "boardwalk" itself but it is a path you can take that is connected to it. It use to just end abruptly and it you wanted to keep walking you had to walk on the sand. This was a wonderful addition given the amount of new hotels and tourism that have taken over South Beach in the last 20 years or so. My memories here start at about 8 years old. I have been able to visit more often at different times during my life yet it has pretty much always looked the same. Other than changing the planks in some areas here and there, it's location and design have always been the same. I would even venture out and say that the cats that are still there are all from the same family. It's not a walk on the boardwalk if you don't see at least a 5 cats! Don't worry. They don't bother anyone. For the most part they hide from everyone except the mysterious people who keep feeding them. I have jogged here at sunrise, in the burning noon sun, in the cold, and in the rain. I have walked it with girlfriends as a teen to attend beach sand concerts they use to have. I can't forget the romantic strolls I took here and more recently, I have even taken my son as a baby for some air in his stroller. It is just wonderful. You have the ocean just feet away. It's that close. There is just never a bad time to go (except maybe during a hurricane and I bet that is still spectacular!). Animals, bikes and skating are not allowed but you find a few of those that occasionally sneak in. I have noticed more police presence in recent years and they are strict about it if they catch you and ask you to leave. There are a few bathroom stop options along the way as well as some hotel restaurants and cafes you can stop at. I love the Cabana Beach Club at the Eden Roc Hotel. This beach is very nice and clean.... It was not very crowded though it was a lot of people there was plenty of room to spread out and not feel over crowded. Parking can be a challenge by the Collins Miami strip so planned to leave early. We found it better to park at parking spot locations and use pay station versus the parking garages which were $20 flat rate. The garage is better if you planned to stay and walk around all day. I like to move so a couple bucks ($2-$4) for a couple hours in the sun then move on to various locations worked best for us, Enjoy!!! read more

I'd stick to day or early evening walks until they're replaced. Okay, this is review for the BOARDWALK, not the beach. I was expecting a boardwalk with shops and stuff for something to do and things to see but this is literally a boardwalk, more like a bored-walk because there was nothing but trees, a beach view, and people walking. It gives access to the beach, but that's about it. There were some coconut peddlers selling fresh coconuts on the actual board walk for $5. To one side is the ocean, to the other is a series of resort swimming pools. The annoying thing was, the north stretch of the boardwalk was all blocked off by the back of resorts. You can't walk through the resort to exit to streets. Be prepared to walk the whole length of the board walk or back track. It is a public beach but each section of the beach is filled with umbrellas and lounge chairs from a particular resort. Being there seems like I'm invading the resort guests' space. If you put in the address on Yelp, 35th St & Collins Ave, you'll end up at the south end of the boardwalk. There is a small public parking lot there. Parking was $2/hr on a weekday. Overall, the beach is nice, albeit super commercialized, but the boardwalk itself is rather uneventful, just there for a run or walk. If you are from out of town and looking for a fun beach boardwalk like the one at Santa Monica Pier, this is not it! I don't even know if anything like that exists in Miami. I guess I'm a West Coast gal. I should have actually read the reviews. read more

I love the Miami Beach Boardwalk. The Miami Beach Boardwalk is little hidden gym that surprisingly never gets too crowed. I especially enjoy taking a lunch break here and walking along the beach. Even if I'm not dressed for the beach, I can enjoy the breeze and squeeze in a little lunch time exercise, along this almost 2 mile stretch. The elevated section runs along the beach from 21st St. to 46th St. Plenty of people run, skate, and bike along the boardwalk, but plenty others are just enjoying the view. There are access points at every street from 21st to 41st and some streets have shaded seating areas. The seating area can sometime be occupied by a variety of Miami's own coconut and palm art salesmen. If you are lucky enough to find a private shady spot, you can look out on the water. There are also some tiki bars and restaurants along the boardwalk, if you looking for a distraction from exercising. I love having this boardwalk right in my backyard. It doesn't get better than that. Although it says no bicycles or skateboards are allowed, it pains me to constantly see people doing just that. There's a reason they don't allow these -- it is made out of wood and because of the constant wear and tear, it had to be torn down and remodeled a few years ago. It's such a shame to see that people cannot respect the signs and have complete disregard for the state of the boardwalk. Although it can be empty, don't count on it being empty on the weekends, especially in the daytime. It isn't unusual to have some jogger puff right by you as he makes his way around you and others just strolling or standing around the boardwalk (I do brisk walking but I am still too slow for a runner!). Makes for good people watching, not just for men, but for women, as there's plenty of toned, tanned bodies hitting the path glistening with sweat in the sun. Most of the time, there is a breeze, but not always, but you'll always enjoy the sights of people lying on the beach or the colorful rainbows of kite surfing. What I enjoy the most is that no matter what time of the day you decide to go on the boardwalk, which extends from 5th to about 46th, is that it is safe and you don't have to worry about some weirdo jumping you from the bushes. There's always people around, and there's lighting along the way. Though I am not your typical South Beach resident (I don't go clubbing, don't like stilettos, dresses, nor am I a hard partyer), this is one thing I love about living in the beach and that people could actually understand why it'd appeal to me, and my nature and beach-loving self. read more

What a great morning run!! And what a contrast with the Pacific Beach/Mission Beach boardwalk: - The Miami Beach boardwalk is a thing unto itself. While there are entrances to the hotels, there are no stores, shops, restaurants along the boardwalk. - The boardwalk is made out of, get this, boards. Real wood. No cement or pavement. Easy on the feet and knees. - There is a 20 yard wide protected strip of vegetation between the beach and the boardwalk. The result is that you feel like you're in a green, tropical tunnel -- and the vegetation protects the beach during storms. - Bicycles and skateboarders are not permitted on the Miami Beach boardwalk. Thank goodness. - Loads of fit young Brazilian women out for their morning run. It is approximately 4 miles, runs behind the hotels, is well kept, and is a relaxing place to walk if you do not want to walk through all of the South Beach mayhem. I am a left coaster. I'm from the land of Sharknado movies and the ports from which The Love Boat of old once launched. When I think of a boardwalk I have a very specific notion of what to expect. The Miami Beach Boardwalk blew my mind! If you have a fear of heights this is the boardwalk for you! It is really like a pretty, wooden sidewalk along the beach that does not jut out over the ocean 30 feet high. If you've been watching too many bad 70s or contemporary shark movies and are irrationally paranoid you can still enjoy strolling here. If you want to sightsee some lovely hotels without having to deal with cars or traffic come on down. You can also easily get your jog on. You can also haul your beach gear north or south and decide where you want to camp out for the day. Check it out. read more

This is Miami Beach's entry in "fascinating trails in a city". Los Angeles has the Santa Monica bike bath, San Antonio has Riverwalk, Miami Beach has the boardwalk. And it is soooo South Florida. Flat. Hot. Lined with green trees and shrubbery. Tall hotels and condos to the west, white inviting beach to the east. If there's a party going on, you can hear it (and sometimes see it). This is a place for a stroll, power walk, or jog. Bikes aren't allowed on the board walk, although they're fine on the brick walk. I walked from the Eden Roc to 10th Ave on the Boardwalk, and enjoyed it. I think it'll be a fond memory that will stay with me as much as the beach. Mention this to tourists, and they would probably go "huh?" Seems very much like a second-tier attraction. But it's a pleasant surprise. read more
