I have worked and ran a large dealership service department for the last 25 years along with owning multiple rentals and I can't remember ever calling anyone else for help with the issues we have had. I recently needed a locksmith because I had set my house/car keys on the kitchen table. As I left for work, I turned the lock on the door knob and closed the door, but my keys were still on the table! I didn't have a spare set of keys hidden outside or iin my purse. Thank goodness, I had my phone! I searched on Yelp & selected North Coast Lock & Key because it was close, I could request a quote & I could expect a reply within 10 minutes. Scott contacted me within minutes, gave me a very reasonable quote & asked for my address. He was over 30 miles away and had several appointments already scheduled. On multiple occasions I've called or stopped by, only to be told that no one was available to help me. Each time I left my name and number, I was promised a call back -- but I have never once received one. This forces me to return in person, where the outcome is usually either: 1. "We're out of stock," or 2. "Someone will call you back." As a small business owner, I only purchase 1-4 locks per year, which is nothing compared to the large timber company that seems to get first priority. Still, every customer deserves fair treatment and basic communication. A promised call back should actually happen, regardless of order size. On my most recent visit (two trips in one day), I finally spoke with someone knowledgeable about inventory and keying. Even then, I was told "someone will call you back." That was over three days ago, and I'm still waiting. At the time, there was open discussion among staff about whether additional stock was available, but I left without answers. Because Abloy keys cannot be duplicated by other locksmiths, I'm now forced to shop online, where replacement keys can take weeks. This lack of support locally has cost me significant time and frustration. This is not an isolated incident -- I've had at least three other nearly identical experiences with Security Lock & Alarm: no follow-up, repeated visits, and wasted time. It really highlights how small businesses and individual customers are deprioritized compared to big contracts. In short: if you're not a large-volume customer, don't expect much help here.
