Security Lock & Alarm is the only Abloy reseller in the area, but unfortunately their customer service has been consistently disappointing. On multiple occasions I've called or stopped by, only to be told that no one was available to help me. Each time I left my name and number, I was promised a call back -- but I have never once received one. This forces me to return in person, where the outcome is usually either: 1. "We're out of stock," or 2. "Someone will call you back." As a small business owner, I only purchase 1-4 locks per year, which is nothing compared to the large timber company that seems to get first priority. Still, every customer deserves fair treatment and basic communication. A promised call back should actually happen, regardless of order size. On my most recent visit (two trips in one day), I finally spoke with someone knowledgeable about inventory and keying. Even then, I was told "someone will call you back." That was over three days ago, and I'm still waiting. At the time, there was open discussion among staff about whether additional stock was available, but I left without answers. Because Abloy keys cannot be duplicated by other locksmiths, I'm now forced to shop online, where replacement keys can take weeks. This lack of support locally has cost me significant time and frustration. This is not an isolated incident -- I've had at least three other nearly identical experiences with Security Lock & Alarm: no follow-up, repeated visits, and wasted time. It really highlights how small businesses and individual customers are deprioritized compared to big contracts. What I like about small town charm are the people that you interact with. I was in need of a couple of specifically keyed locks with keys that take special permission to duplicate. I called the folks at Security lock and Alarm looking for a solution to my gate security needs. The gentleman on the phone recommended an Abloy lock, this lock is super strong and the keys are different than any other key. The really nice thing about these locks is that you must be on "the list" to make a duplicate key. The locks are 125 bucks each and the keys are 12.50 each but knowing that every Tom, Dick and Harry does not have a duplicate key to your gate will help me sleep at night. I ordered up 2 locks and 10 keys and the nice gentleman told me that the locks and keys would be ready that day, now that's service! Sure enough I received a call saying that my locks and keys were ready. It's a 1 1/2 hour drive for us to get to Eureka and we were grateful that this business puts customers first. Electric door key battery pooped out without warning; couldn't find key. Called Security at 4 pm, they dispatched a locksmith. He arrived within the hour; was pleasant and professional; opened lock in a few minutes. Asked if I wanted new key (sure!), so now I have a key. It was expensive (duh!), about $100, including new key. But I reckon it's like calliing a plumber or similar to solve a home problem which simply must be solved, and they really hit the mark on doing it right. Would definitely use them again! read more

He immediately let me know that I'd need new doorknobs and deadbolts to accomplish this due to incompatibility between the front door lock and all the others. We recently moved our alarm service to Security Lock and Alarm. We started getting nervous about our business being protected when our old alarm started having problems and our alarm company did little to help. We called Security Lock and Alarm and they had us completely protected the following Monday. We have had service with them for about two weeks and last night someone attempted to break the window. The glass break sensor detected it, and set off the alarm. We reviewed the video footage and could hear the rock, then immediately the alarm going off and the phone ringing. I believe this deterred the idiot who was trying to vandalize or break into our place from trying to hit the window again and break it. Within minutes, the police arrived. When we got the call from the dispatcher, she had already dispatched police. We are so thankful we moved companies when we did! Our old alarm had started acting up after the outage which resulted in a costly service call from Advanced. Just a few weeks later we started having problems again. They offered us a free system, but would just charge the labor for install... at $95/hour! No thanks. For what we were going to pay, versus the cost of installing a new system with Security Lock and Alarm... worth it. And we didn't have glass break detectors before, so even if our old alarm was operating, the rock wouldn't have been detected unless it went through the window and caused motion inside (which HAS happened before, costing us $700 for a new window). read more

WARNING TO ALL CONSUMERS. Don't shop for anything here. This place is a ripoff! I bought a safe here about 2 years ago. My safe's battery died and I bough new ones. It still didn't work, so called the office. I told them i changed the battery, and they sent someone right away. The explained the safe only takes Duracell batteries. Then sent me a bill for $80. $80 to come change a battery?? I went down to the store to attempt to work something out. I was told simply no. I said the fact that the safe only operated on one Duracell batteries should have been disclosed at he point the sale, as a form of curtesy. I"m sure this is part of their racket scheme. We fly over here often for business and leave a car at the airport. One time a year or two, Scott from Security reprogrammed our key fob and it worked great and got our car going when Toyota wasn't readily available to help. Today, the key stopped working and the car locked down. We called AAA, called Toyota dealer, and called Security. Matt from Security came to try to help. It was a complicated deal. Next came Sean, then Scott to try to solve the mystery. Three guys doing their best for me on 5th and E at Starbucks. Using google, calling Toyota, and using all resources, they determined it was a central car computer failure. The car needed a dealer visit. We ultimately had AAA tow the car to Toyota. It took almost two hours. These three gentlemen from Security refused to give me a bill. Refused. Now, I don't know these folks and they don't know me. I was desperate. They could have taken advantage. I asked for a bill three times. Integrity? Decency? Good humans? Decide for yourself but my answer is yes, clearly. Safe and seemingly excellent to do business with. Went in to have a key made for my car the other day. The man who was there said he had the key in stock but couldn't program it and make it till after two PM, as he was all alone. I said no problem. Went back after two and the gentleman I spoke with said they didnt have the key to make it. I explained that I had spoken to the other guy, and had set aside the key. Well he insisted they didn't have one and then said" you know this is a three hundred dollar key ?" As though i couldn't possibly pay for it. I replied yes i am aware. So i said i would go elsewhere. Five stars - definitely recommend The Backstory: 3pm on a Tuesday afternoon, 60 miles North of Eureka. My husband and I are on a road trip and stopped for fuel in Klamath because our gas meter had just reached "empty." That's when we discovered we lost the key to the gas cap. With no cell service and no way to fuel up, we had no choice but to keep going. 4pm, we get cell service and I jump on Yelp. Security Lock & Alarm showed to be the closest locksmith... but they were still about 20 miles away. At this point, our gas meter was basically out of sight, beyond "empty!" The Security Lock & Alarm Experience: 4:30pm, the time our map said we'd arrive - the business closed at 5pm. I called to give them a heads up on our arrival and of our "emergency," as we put it. They said they would be able to help us, but they close at 5. To make a long story.. shorter, we ran out of gas as we pulled into their parking lot! Someone came out to pick the lock, but the lock was a little stinker. Another came out to give it a try - success! From there, the two took the key into the shop and searched the giant board of blanks for the right match. Two more employees came out to help... Four people were helping us at this point! 4:51pm, they find the right blank and Matt starts to make the key - by hand!! We have an old 1983 VW Vanagon and the factory definitely made some special stock keys for the thing. Dave also helped in hand-making the key and finished the masterpiece at 5:01pm! It was incredible! I'm still laughing about it all - it was such a fun experience! I'm sad I didn't catch the names of the other two, but to the four that helped us (and the lady in the other room) thank you for staying 'til the end of the work day - and a few minutes after - to help us. Subject: Okay service with no COVID safety whatsoever. I went to get a spare key fob/starter for my 2018 Kia. I had bought my own spare fob/starter online and just needed to get it programed and the emergency key cut. They estimated this would take 20 minutes which was faster than I thought! I arrived and was happy to see the COVID safety guidelines on the front door. However, none of the three employees I spoke with was wearing a mask. I explained what I needed to someone and he quickly helped me as I waited by the door uncomfortably. He went outside to program my fob/starter and while I was waiting I asked another employee for help with how to hide my fob/starter while surfing. He had no idea and told me to find something online. Meanwhile, another masked customer came in and the unmasked employee copied a key for her. After 10 minutes I went to see how my fob/starter was doing and realized with dismay that he was in my car without a mask on. Being in the large office where we could all stand far away without a mask on was uncomfortable, but going into someone else's car without a mask was honestly offensive. I was very glad I had the foresight to roll down my windows before he went in. I made a mental note to let the car air out for 20 minutes before driving it. However, he came to me saying not only could he not program the spare fob/starter, but my current fob/starter would no longer work. I can't drive my car without the fob/starter, and he obviously understood the urgency of the situation and apologized and said he could drive me somewhere while they worked on it. I obviously declined being in a car with him and instead walked to the grocery store. When I got back an hour later there were multiple unmasked employees in and around my car and it still wouldn't start. Finally they got it to work and the reason this is 3 stars not 1 is because they didn't charge me anything for the spare fob/starter (it works) in the end.
