When i saw that the store was named Five Cent and Ten Cent Store, my curiosity was instantly piqued. Unfortunately, the items in the store are not actually five or ten cents anymore, but it's still a fun store to browse for the most random goods, such as souvenirs (e.g. magnets of the storefront!), toys, etc. I had to find street parking for this place. read more

Great store with reasonably priced and unique gifts. They make their own fudge and it is some of the best fudge I ever had. A great variety of flavors. Maple chocolate and raspberry chocolate were my favorite so far. Will make sure to always pop in for my fudge fix whenever in the area. ----- Concise Review Fantastic Five and Dime - books, snacks and so much more ----- Longer Review We traveled to South Tamworth, New Hampshire, by way of Boston, MA and then North Conway, NH, for the wedding of our niece to her husband. The trip was brief - Thursday evening to Sunday, but filled with family, fun, and some exploring. On Saturday morning, while our son did homework in the room, while my wonderful wife was exercising, our daughter and I explored North Conway, NH. The front desk clerk guided us to a couple parks just outside town... and as we drove through town, we saw the 5 and 10 and we pulled over and parked and explored town instead. It proved to be a great stop. The 5 and 10 (five and dime) is a great general store... snacks, N. Conway souvenirs, books, kitchen utensils, puzzles, games, cards and more. We picked up two books - "that's not in my science book: a compilation of little-known facts," and "What They Didn't Teach You About The American Revolution," hair scrunchies, two New Hampshire hat pins, and some gum and life savers. Cute little store in North Conway. There are some neat things that they sell that are very New England / New Hampshire. For instance I bought some cute balsam sachets to set your mug on. They smell amazing and add a cute homey touch. With that said, many of the items for sale are dollar store, Made in China, junk drawer items. But priced up a bit. If you've never been in, it's worth a browse. But it's not on my list of must visit places when I go up. read more

So I'm pretty sure this store asks that patrons don't use their phones while shopping, but I loved this store so much I had to take a ton of pictures. This store located in the center of town is definitely a throw back to different times. This store had a little of everything and our favorite sections were their book and kitchen corners. We ended up buying a few different kitchen items (including a melon baller) and searched their book section for what seemed like an hour. In the end we also loved the fact that they sold vinyl table covers by the roll and had a "used and clearance" item section. The amount of toys and candy they had here was also overwhelming, but it spoke to the kids within us. The only downside was that everything was a bit pricey. read more

This place definitly gets out shined by Zeb's but this place was a fun store as well. Whoever own this place has an ecclectic taste in books. There was an entire section of feminist books then an entire section of world war 2 books and then a cross section about woman being heros in WWII. There was also a good selection of classic kids books and funny little trinkets. There was even things for 5 cents. I found fake witch fingernails and little green army men for 5 cents each. Worth a visit even if you won't buy anything, since its only a few steps from zebs and the north conway scenic railroad. read more

This place is much cheaper than Zebs and almost as much fun. I suggest you browse Zebs and make a mental list of your wishes. Then stroll a couple shops down and check out the 5&10, there is s good chance you will find what you desire for less money. They have postcards at 1/3 to price of Zebs, fudge, "penny" candy and similar toys and games as well as other New Hampshire based trinkets and souvenirs. Definitely worth a stop! read more

Yet another uber-touristy gift shop. Yay! You know what I was thinking this street needed? More places to let toddlers and middle aged drunk women run around screaming! (the latter might be more of a rarity, but it was happening when we entered) I was expecting to see candy and tiny plastic toys for cheap-- a place to take your kids where they could experience a five and dime. Unfortunately, even the tiny plastic toys were more like $3, and the candy started at a quarter. They could definitely sell individually wrapped bubble gum and tiny tootsie rolls for a dime if they wanted to, just to keep a tiny bit of authenticity alive. Toward the back is a selection of touristy t-shirts, doll house accessories, greeting cards, and mass produced hats. Not surprisingly, we walked out empty handed. I understand the merit of having tourist shops for the tourists, but make some effort to differentiate your shop from every other tourist shop in the world... read more

So I love this store for many reasons. The prices aren't bad and they have a little of everything. I always find a cute little souvenir for my mom while I'm here and its always something different and nothing she'd expect. Also the fudge is delicious so I recommend trying that also. This is one of those awesome places where your toddlers will see and beg to go inside, and you'll feel the nostalgic parental urge to let them browse through a five-and-dime store just like the one you grew up with in your hometown, only to discover that the laws of physics prevent your stroller from making it up the front stairs and into the narrow aisles. If you can't find something that tickles your fancy here, you're too picky!! Yes, there's the silly (but some fun, in my opinion) touristy hats, tee-shirts, moose-items like hats, aprons, dish towels, & greeting cards, post cards, etc. And there are cheap plastic toys, but there are also great nostalgic old toys like rubber band guns, whoopie cushions, jacks, army men, etc. There's a fun selection of joke items like the pack of gum that snaps your finger - I had one of those as a kid! Fun selection of kids craft stuff. There's a really fun silly hats section for kids & adults. Maybe next year I'll have the kids choose their Halloween costumes There' s a great kid's book section with classic New England kid's books. They have a REALLY eclectic selection of New Hampshire & New England books & books on feminism & women in history. I could have spent several hundred dollars there in books ALONE but settled on a true crimes of New England book. I think this was my favorite part of the store. There's a little section of office supplies & a little section of personal hygiene stuff so if you're visiting & just need something little & are not picky about brand, this is a good place to pick it up. We didn't get any penny candy or try any fudge. Next year! We'll be back. Also, the cashier was SUPER friendly too. :) read more

This place is on the National Historic Registry since it has been in this same location since the 1930's. Quaint little store in the North Conway Village. It is like a blast from the past. read more
