Our kitchen counters and backsplash needed an upgrade so we began searching for a good fabricator to help with our project. After talking to several fabricators, we decided to work with San Marcos Marble & Tile because they were professional, communicative, and offered great value for their services. Starting from the first visit and throughout the entire process, Elisa was available each step of the way to answer questions and provide updates. She explained the various options we had in terms of material, layout, and process. Dasia then came out to measure the counter area and give some helpful suggestions on things we should consider when looking for countertop material. Once we had decided on a quartz material, Elisa coordinated the details for demo, templating, installation, and backsplash tiling. We had some leftover material from the quartz slab and decided to replace a bathroom vanity countertop as well, which they were able to accommodate no problem. Once everything was scheduled, their crews came out and took care of everything. Their guys for each stage of the project were great. Friendly, professional, and efficient. Once all was said and done, we were extremely happy with the results. I would not hesitate to work with San Marcos Marble & Tile again in the future. read more

Beware of San Marcos Marble and Tile. I feel as though I have been scammed. In Good Faith I went to San Marcos Marble and Tile to purchase some Granite, Dasia ,the owner was very nice, very helpful,and accommodating. I explained the type of Granite I wanted and she produced, I paid for the Granite separately in full (that's how it shows on my receipt ) plus she charged $278.00 upfront labor fee. The only condition she had was that we needed to make sure that the cabinets had 2 sheets of plywood on them and to call when the cabinets were ready and they would send the guy out to make the templates . I made several trips to San Marcos Marble and Tile between the time that I bought the 2 Granite Slabs to the time I made the call for them to come out and do the template, comparing paint and flooring samples, until all my colors were all ready, again Dasia and Julie were very helpful. I made the call, the guy came out. ( Eddie her husband or significant other, his name is on the Business License and Dasia calls herself the owner) He said my counters were not level and he said I needed to call HIS guy (more money} out to make them level, I explained to him that I cannot afford to pay anyone else and that my cabinet guy is perfectly capable and I asked if he could please talk to my cabinet guy so they could work out what needs to be done. (I'm not quite sure why he couldn't make the templates when he was there, the cabinet sizes weren't going to change) He said "NO". He would not explain to my cabinet guy nor to my builder the issues, he said "since I'm the owner Its my responsibility". I explained to him that I am a homeowner not a builder and isn't that what I hired him for. He refused to do the template and then advised IF he comes back out to my house and its not to his approval, I will be charged, So my sister called and was told by the owner, DASIA that since her husband won't help me out that she would send over an email explaining where the unleveled areas were. We never received it . I called and told them that I would pick up my Granite that I had paid for in full and was advised that it would now be TWICE AS MUCH ,and that it had doubled in price. I called and told them I wanted to cancel this transaction since they wouldn't work with me .I wanted to come by and pick up a check , I was advised that they were going to charge me a restocking fee of $650.00, I called at least two more times to speak with the owner Dasia, she never returned my call. But she did appear at my front door with my check less the $650.00, explaining that it wasn't a good idea that I came into the store. With the check she handed me a statement reflecting a Trip Charge of $250.00 and a RESTOCKING FEE of $400.00. It also stated that my Granite was Paid in f'ull, but yet when I wanted to pick it up, they doubled the price and charged me a Restocking fee on the Granite that I had PAID IN FULL. They have charges on the contract, but nowhere is there any mention of a Trip Charge Fee. But there is now. We have had 2 other installers come out and check the levels on my cabinets and they both said they WERE LEVEL. Meanwhile, I've painted the house and the flooring is in my garage waiting to be installed TO MATCH THE GRANITE that I bought and paid for, that San Marcos Marble and Tile has now Doubled the Price ( an additional $1,500.00), in order for me to pick it up, and then is charging me to restock it, makes no sense. I AM NOT SURE WHAT IS GOING ON THERE , BUT I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND SAN MARCOS MARBLE AND TILE TO ANYONE. If I could give 0 stars, I would. ( or minus, (-) ) read more

Yes they are wonderful people but they have been unresponsive to our concerns after they completed our master bathroom remodel. Out shower now has water stains around the base perimeter because the cuts were not sealed. SMMT SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS AND SEALED THE CUTS SROUND THE BASE OF THE SHOWER. I get messages from them that they will come out and provide a solution. I get crickets. I tried an industrial fan and dehumidifier to take out the stains. I have tried poultice. No results. But SMMT leaves me with the impression that this is our problem not theirs. We should be working together to solve the problem. All they had to do was seal the cuts during installation. Unless I hear from them in person this week I will be forced to file a lawsuit. How unfortunate as I said in the beginning they are very nice people. read more

We had custom cabinets and one cabinet needed to center and SMMT said the cabinet gut needed to center it and they would come back and install it. We paid them in full even though the job was not completed. Now they want to charge us $400 to come back and install 4 pieces of back splash which we have already paid in full. read more

Once I decided on what color counter top I should get they help me with the backslash for our kitchen counter. Order the tiles, pencil and the grout for the tiles. That was very nice of them. Rafa is an AWESOME on attention to details. He takes his time and makes sure that everything is precious. Which is very important because you are spending money renovating your kitchen and bathrooms you want to make sure everything done preciously and exact. I appreciate it his preciousness. Do not use this company unless you like to pay 75% of the cost down and then they delay the installation endlessly. The communication is horrible. Elisa is a liar, claiming she had sent me VMs and emails to notify me of installation opportunities. Also claiming she did not receive my texts. After multiple failed promises for installation times, she promised installation would happen in one week and I'd be the first installation of the morning. The time has come and I haven't heard from them. Left a message with Julie today and she has not returned calls. Eddie who came to measure for the countertop was very nice. START HERE!!! As with everything I did a ton of research and they were originally recommended by John at Granix where I finally found my stone. He recommended San Marcos Marble and Tile and one other installer (who they no longer recommend) I picked the wrong one only because I didn't want to wait 2 weeks for the next available instal date from SMMAT. Big mistake I had the other company install the granite in my master bath and I knew from the start it had been a mistake. I didn't let them continue to the other baths or kitchen. Called Eddie at San Marcos MAT and he came out to make the templates for the Kitchen and other baths. The only word that describes the job they did is FLAWLESS! Turns out they regularly get called in to fix other installers bad work. Again the results were the ABSOLUTE BEST!! On time meticulous detailed work that's rare to find these days. You can waste your time and risk making a mistake like I did or you can START HERE. 4.5 Stars - I had this company look at our outdoor bar which is a 100 sq feet. I tried several other tilers who were recommended by supply stores and none would respond. I think there is a lot of work for tilers right now. We found this store on Yelp and went to them because of the detailed reviews from other homeowners. Eddie recommended a place to purchase the tile we were looking for and then gave an estimate. We were primarily concerned with getting the work done quickly and feared the amount of work in San Diego county would prevent that. Eddie was able to find a sub who got us in his schedule in a week. We found San Marcos Marble and Tile (SMM&T) on Yelp, and based on the five-star reviews, this was the first place we visited when planning remodeling our kitchen countertops. The first person we talked to was Yasmine, who was friendly and quite knowledgeable. First impressions matter, and Yasmine walked us through all the options they had for marble, quartz and other materials, and the process of making templates at your home, fabrication and final installation. While we didn't find anything in their yard that suited us, Yasmine directed us to another marble company in the area with a larger selection, where we found just what we were looking for, a beautiful quartzite called Alexandrita. This other company only sold materials, and did not do measuring, fabrication or installation. Since we had such a positive first impression at SMM&T, we returned and told them what we had found. One of their delivery drivers (Miguel I believe) overheard our conversation and told us that he knew where he could find slabs of Alexandrita at a better price. We were sold. SMM&T arranged for the Alexandrita to be shipped to them; we returned to have a look and what they had was even better than what we had seen elsewhere (and at a better price per square foot). The rest of the process was just terrific. Basia in the office was helpful throughout the process and made the experience positive from our choice all the way through installation. We needed to order a new sink and cooktop and once these arrived a few weeks later, Eddie from SMM&T came out to our house and took measurements and made templates for fabrication. We returned to SMM&T and Alex, the stone cutter, helped us choose just which pieces would go where. Alex really has an eye. Once the installation was complete, we could see just how talented Alex is in choosing which pieces go where. We were also very fortunate that SMM&T has an electrician by the name of Tom Ashton who came out to our house to disconnect our old cooktop and other electrical prep work. He was terrific as well, and it was great that SMM&T has Tom to do both the prep work the installation after the SMM&T job was complete. Lastly, Jesus and Roberto worked in our home for three days to do the initial demolition and installation of the new countertops. They were very professional, and a joy to work with. At the end, Tom returned with his son Kelan who is a plumber, and they installed the new cooktop, and hooked up all the electrical outlets and our new sink. They were great as well. When Tom and Kelan were doing the final installation work, we noticed that there were some minor oversights (some parts of the backsplash were not finished off), so we called SMM&T and Jesus and Roberto returned within an hour or so, and happily finished the job to our satisfaction. I screwed up and bought an undermount sink. My guys couldn't smooth granite for undermount sinks. I could've easily had bought an overmount but they were all too shallow. I told my guys "I'll either get the granite cut by tomorrow or get you a sink you can overmount." Pressured, I reached out on Yelp and Julie responded quickly to see if the cutting and smoothing could be done the same day. They made no promises but told me it would be ready no later than 0630 the next day (24 hrs after drop off). I was fine with that but wanted it the same day. I dropped it off at 0630 and they had it ready by 2pm. Not only did they expedite it but they did an excellent job at a reasonable price. In speaking with Eddie and Alex, I found out that these guys have been doing this a long time. Their experience is evident in customer care and quality workmanship. We are remodeling our whole house and San Marcos Marble and Tile was by far the best company we've worked with! Initially I purchased counters through Home Depot but was told they would take 2-4 weeks to come in once ordered and I wasn't able to get the counters I wanted so we stopped by San Marcos Marble and Tile on a Saturday and since I already knew what I wanted we ordered the counters then and was told the slab would be in in the coming week. Jasmine was very helpful and walked us through us the process and Eddie helped us pick an edge for the counters as well as a sink. Eddie was flexible with us when we had a delay in finishing the cabinet installation. He came out that next week (in the pouring rain) and created the template for us. They were even able to install the counters the day before Thanksgiving which saved our Thanksgiving dinner party! Installation day was a breeze. The guys were early, which has been the opposite of all the other companies I've dealt with during this remodel. They were friendly and kept everything clean as they worked. They finished a lot quicker than I thought they would and my counters turned out amazing. I will definitely be using San Marcos Marble and Tile for my next remodel! read more
