Master Ali is very welcoming and made my three kids feel at ease. He encourages and corrects, stern but also fun. My 12 yr old son was not interested but after the first class he was 100% wanting to continue. My daughter and youngest all attend at the same time and makes my life easier. He has the older kids help the younger kids which is giving them responsibilities and accountability of their actions. We are new to martial arts and so happy we found NCT! My daughter is 13 and has been coming here for 7 months. I see her getting much stronger, more flexible, and her posture improving. She comes twice a week to group lessons, which are any two weekday evenings at one of three times and last for 45 minutes. Each week you can change days and times as well, based on your availability. No scheduling. Just show up two days a week. Mon, Tues, Wed, and Fridays focus on stretching, cardio, forms, and kicks/punches mostly. Thursdays are group sparring days which she's ready to start as one of her two days a week. Currently, the 4:30 time is mostly the younger kids, 6pm teens with mix of young kids, and 7pm older teens and adults. It's not strictly those ages though. Adults and children of different ages can come at the same time. Belt testing is one Saturday each month, and you are invited to test when Master Ali thinks you are ready. Everyone will test on their color belt form and break boards. We are hoping, in time, coming here will help our child's self-confidence. Each class time you come in, you don't know what it will be like. Master Ali is always switching it up which makes it interesting and fun. He is tough on the kids but knows which kids to go easy on. There are some neurodivergent kids in the classes, and he is amazing with them! He's also super fun and funny so the kids love him. At the same time very strict. The kids really respect him. He also offers private lessons. Oh, and parents...you can either stay and watch or go shopping in the Nordahl shopping center :) Call them for a free trial! read more

My boys LOVE NCT! They are currently 6 & 9 and have been attending for about a year now! Master Ali incorporates all aspects of their life and performance before advancing them to the next belt (school/behavior at home/getting along with their sibling) which I really appreciate! His classes are fun for the kids and they love it so much and they always leave sweaty and happy! Master Ali makes sure they are well behaved during class, too, so there are not any disruptions for other kids. My youngest now drops down into the splits and teaches others his form and kicks! After a few years of wanting my son to try a martial art, he asked me if he could try out taekwondo. After hearing great reviews for North County Taekwondo, we decided to give it a try. Master Ali was very welcoming from the start and I can tell he truly loves what he does. I see the students not only learning the skill of taekwondo but they also learn how to be leaders and role models. We just signed our 12 year old son up and are excited to have him get back into Taekwondo! He earned his 1st Dan Black Belt a few years ago in Virginia, and we have had a hard time finding a Taekwondo Master that can pick up where we left off in San Marcos. I cannot speak enough about the lessons and meaning that Taekwondo teaches kids, and by far is much more beneficial than any other form of martial art. Our son has learned so much and has fun being physically challenged. Master Ali is extremely friendly, and customer focused.
