Such a big fan of this park! The area is great, the park is clean, and there's tons of friendly faces. I usually come by during the weekends. There's plenty of people at the dog park and surrounding meadows of grass. Lots of family parties and kids sports games too. The small dogpark is actually quite big and well maintained with a few bushes for the doggies to play hide-n-seek. Plenty of seating areas and a somewhat shaded bench. Doggie bags provided. The dual gate entrance/exit area is very spacious so you and your dog do not have to feel like you're in a cage. We loved meeting Archie and his owner and we learned about the poor research beagles in the area. This review is for the dog owners that like to remind you that if your dog isn't neutered they should not be in the park. If I had an aggressive male that was not neutered I am smart enough to not bring it to any dog park. I have an Alaskan husky pup that has never been attacked until today. He is not aggressive and has not been neutered for a reason (age) Had a very interesting exchange with a very smug know it all about all breeds that intended to school me on male dogs that are not neutered and that was the reason the other dog attacked my dog. This is the first time this has happened to me and I come here frequently. It is important that people understand most of the owners here are either complicit in their dogs aggressive behaviors and or clueless, and don't correct, or stay to monitor, or they over react. I've been to many dog parks where non aggressive neutered males interact and they are not aggressive. Many people bring in rescues that have no idea how their dogs are going to react to other dogs and are smart enough to leash them up and leave. Not today. Next time I will bring pepper spray if ANY dog attempts to attack my dog which is well within my rights as you are pretty much on your own in this park. read more

This dog park is great! I've only encountered nice people and nice dogs, which isn't always the case at other parks. It has two parts: big dog and small dog (25lbs and under). There are always tennis balls and rope toys for the dogs to play with, and TONS of water bowls. The small dog side is really hit or miss as to whether other dogs will be there. The big dog side always has at least a couple pups running around having a blast. It's part of the North Domingo Baca Park, which is really nice and there are soccer fields, a kids play ground, skate park, and some outdoor rec areas next to it. There is a public bathroom next to the playground, just a short walk from the dog park. The only issues I have with this park are that not everyone picks up after their dogs (at least not on the small dog side), and that the small dog side isn't very popular. read more

I've been coming to this park with my husky for almost a year. I've changed the times of day I come to avoid aggressive dogs and owners/chaos during its busiest times. There are a handful of elderly owners that sit around as their dogs beat up on/gang up on other dogs causing many owners of sweet, friendly dogs to leave with the bullies and their owners still sitting happy. This trend has been getting worse and worse and now there is no time in which I feel comfortable or would recommend anyone taking their dog unless you're comfortable putting the smack down on other bully dogs and confronting their owners. read more

My favorite dog park (by far) in ABQ. I go WAY out of my way to take my dog here because it makes us both happy. It's a big space with lots of benches and shaded areas. There are plenty of friendly dogs and owners almost any time/day of the week. Probably one of the best dog parks in ABQ. It's clean, spacious and in a safer area than a lot of other parks. It's in a nice neighborhood with a police substation right up the road. Lots of parking so it's easy to get in and out of. My dogs love it! There always seem to be dogs here too. A lot of dog parks are pretty much deserted later in the day but every time I come here my dogs get a nice socializing and exercising time. Also, a huge playground is in this park complex, so it's a perfect destination for tiring out all your kids, human or fur-people. There are also huge grassy open spaces, which while are not technically for off-leash use, a lot of people do let their dogs frolic on the lawn. Definitely check this park out, even if it's not in your neighborhood, the amenities and nice surroundings make it worth a little drive. read more

Fun time this afternoon at the dog park. It was our first time and it was awesome for my Dane. Lots of multi-sized dogs running and fetching balls and other toys and all seemed pretty well behaved and friendly. She loved jumping around fetching the ball. Awesome afternoon. We got there around 4:15 and didn't have a problem with parking. We stayed around an hour and noticed most of the car spots were taken but there is plenty of parking on the next street. I love this park so much, as does my dog. There's lot of area to run or if you're my dog, sniff. Lots of times people bring toys for the dogs to play with. They have water fountains for humans and the pooch. Just be advised that as soon as it gets cold, the water is shut off. So bring your own just in case. They also supply bags because there is no "poop fairy". This park has an amazing view of the mountains that seems to make it even more beautiful. read more

Beautiful park! Two huge separate lots for large and small dogs (30 lbs or less). Can be unleashed inside the dog park area. Wood chips covers the ground. It can get a little dusty but it's New Mexico... Lots of benches with some shade. Has water spigot but didn't work when I went there (mid-March). Has poop bags for use if needed. Next to a public soccer field with a running/walking paved trail around it so you can take your dog for a walk/run then let them loose in the dog park or vice versa! Also a play ground for children on the other end of the parking lot. So I can imagine that parking can be a challenge on days the park is being heavily used. Public people bathroom as well. Only wished they had agility/active elements for the dogs like tunnels, pods, jumps, etc. That's the ONLY thing I took a star down for. read more

This park is really coming along. What was once just a barren patch of dirt between a housing subdivision and Carmel is now turning into quite the pleasant little green patch. They have two dog parks here: one for little pups, and one for the bigger four-leggeds. Skatepark always seems to have someone pushing around on it. I've seen bikes and rollerblades (and scooters) all vying for space. There's a playground for kids. The soccer pitches and large open grass space is now open (during the winter it was closed). I enjoyed Summerfest here just the other night. They're still building a little bit on Carmel Ave., I think they're supposed to be tennis courts when all is said and done. In the mean time there's ample parking and a couple nice shaded picnic areas, too. read more

I walked the little ones around before taking them into the dog area. The whole park is very nice. It was a wonderful summer morning so the park was busy. Since they are puppies I took them into the little dog area for their first time out. There was about 10 other dogs, mostly small older dogs. Everyone was well behaved and minded their manners. The owners were all very nice too. Everyone was happy to welcome the new comers. As we walked to the car, the big dog area was busy. It looked like everyone was having fun. Many people were walking around to and from the dog area. Even just walking to our car people were very nice. read more

This is a great dog park for so many reasons, I'm going to bullet them: -Beautiful setting, up on a hill, next to a wide green park -Brilliant double gate set up entry into both sets of parks (under and over 25lbs) -Water, and buckets for the dogs to drink out of, easily available -well maintained, wood chip covered area with lots of little trees/shrubs -a nice selection of random toys laying around to use -lots of benches, including a few covered -Very nice, friendly, people with great dogs, and the owners keep an eye out I've brought my two Boston terriers there several times (they like to play with the big dogs) and it's been a blast every time. Okay so I'm trying to get my precious Brooklyn some social exposure. First couple of times here were a little rough for her because she is so alpha. Tonight was the best night yet! Two treats for this 5 star review! Walking up to the park I was a little nervous because there were so many dogs tonight, but feeling bad for Brooklyn being on the outside of the dog park I thought let's give it a try...I mean what's the worst that can happen? I get into a fight with another owner? Bring it on baby...just kidding! Luckily I think this social experiment is working because she was sweet, playful, and flirty...sounds like a yelper I know! I love the convenience of this park to be able to bring your furry family member to a safe environment where like minded people come to gather. The park offers plenty of doggy water stations, tennis balls to be fetched, as well as a soft mulchy like carpeting. Not to mention the breathtaking views of the Sandia mountains at sunset! Owners are typically to themselves but every once in a while Brooklyn seems to bring over the single eligible bachelor...gotta love her for looking out for her mama! read more

This is a decent sized dog park but there is now way I would recommend it. The wood chips on the ground are a nightmare if you have sandals on, the water faucet to fill your dogs water is nearly impossible to get to function correctly and it either doesn't work or splashes you all over, and there are no bathrooms nearby. The worst part is the dog owners though. The don't follow the rules here at all. I personally witnessed a small dog being attacked by at least ten large dogs and the owners just laughed. Nobody tried to help the little dog at all not even his owner! The aggressive dogs were not removed as they were supposed to be either. The "regulars" seemed pretty rude and judgmental also. Please pass this dog park up if you want a safe, friendly, and functional environment for your pup to play. read more

Love this dog park! There are two enclosed areas, the smaller one for little, young, and/or shy dogs. We've only ever been to the "big dog" one which provides plenty of running space with two different levels (at least in the large dog area), two watering stations, three or four doggie-bag dispensers, two shade-covered tables, and a few additional benches. People are generally friendly, though not as self-policing as other dog parks I've been too. No grass, but lots of soft mulch. read more
