We really wanted to like this place, however the lady we had to deal with was extremely rude and provided unnecessary comments. Our appointment was at 1:30 & didn't get on the water until 3:48! Did not communicate that we had to have our floats blown up prior to arriving most places have no problem providing air and prefer to load with them noninflated to the drop off area. We were the only cars there, no other people were waiting. Upon driving past the river I asked if the water was too low to safely tube, she advised no, there would be no worries. However soon found out that was lie. We have to get out of our tubes and walk across very slippery rocks several times during the trip. Leading to several falls and injuries. As well as 3 popped tubes!! We've used these tubes for years at other tubing venues. When they drop you off they don't even assist you getting down to the river. They just drop you at the road and leave. The area for getting on and out of the river doesn't have a nice dock or pathway like most places provide. It's a hike through tall grass and navigating through and over tree roots. Luckily we had a nice conservation officer who assisted us, stating it's easier to do it ourselves and where to put in as well as getting out. They don't even wait to make sure you get out of the water safely. The shop was closed by the time we were done with everyone gone. Do yourself a favor and go with a different company...She even called my friend who booked for us and yelled about my review on Facebook. That is unacceptable and very unprofessional, as a business woman she should be able to accept criticism and my friend is liable for comments. Were adults and allowed to express our concerns and honest review. But don't worry we won't be back. I used this service yesterday and I was not happy with it at all. My friend reserved a time and showed up to an empty building with a hand written note stating that she was on a shuttle run. While my friend was waiting she called the driver to confirm that they had an appointment and the driver stated the sign says "I'm on a run and that's exactly where I am." I didn't see any reason to be rude about it. Then my friend asked about inflating our tubes because we brought our own and she was surprised and irritated that we did not arrive with our tubes inflated. Other services I've used there was no question that they would inflate our tubes and did it gladly because, how do you transport seven tubes? We ended up inflating our own tubes with an air pump that we brought, which was a very long process. So since we didn't have our tubes ready, she took another party in front of us. We finished up inflating the last two tubes with their air compressor while she was shuttling the other party. Once we got on the road my other friend in the party noticed how low the river was and she asked the driver if the river was too low to go tubing and the driver responded no it wasn't. Once we got to the drop off point at about 3:00pm, the young man that was working for her (he was very nice btw)noticed that my tube was low, so we paid them for a tube rental and they brought it out to us when they shuttled their next group of kayakers. She dropped us off about 2 miles down the road at a public access, which was not very easy to get into because of the steep bank and mud. Once we got on our way we realized how horrible the river was at that time for floating. either the river was really flat and dead and we moved at a snails pace, or we had to get out of our tubes and walk across sharp rocks. By the time we were about halfway through with the float three of our tubes had popped which resulted in a few members of our party getting scraped up from having a float with life jackets on instead of in a tube. At the end we just got out at another public access point with high grass that we really didn't feel like walking through with bare legs and sandals. Also, one person in my party left a not so flattering review and she called my other friend that booked it and blasted her out when she didn't even post the review. So since we just put in took out ourselves at crappy public access points and were expected to show up with inflated tubes, I really see no reason to use them as long as you have two vehicles. read more

We had such high hopes for this place... but it ended up being a big NOPE.... We had an appointment time for 1:30pm which we were on time for. They company was running another shuttle so there was a note on the door saying that they would return shortly. At 2 PM we called the number to ensure they were indeed coming back, to which we received a sarcastic and rude response asking us if we could read the sign on the door. Shocked at the response, we asked where the air compressor was so we could begin inflating our tubes. To which we were then informed that we should have already brought them inflated. Now we began to be curious what we were actually paying for... thankfully we did bring a battery charged air compressor so we began inflating our tubes. After we had 4 of the 7 tubes inflated the owner offered their air compressor... frustrating but ok- let's shake this off and have a good day. Fast forward 90 minutes, we're still not in the water. WHAT!! How is this possible?? Finally in the shuttle to drive 10 minutes up river, we notice the river looks low and ask- is this going to be safe for us to tube? The response "well we haven't had much rain but you'll be totally fine" ok... We end up getting dropped off at a public river entrance on the side of the road. No ramp, no stairs, just a bunch of tree limbs to trip and kill yourself on. Definitely now realizing we should've done this on our own and save 2 hours of our day and $70.00. I wish this was the end of this review but again - NOPE..... I will save you the next several hours of some fun but a lot of trauma- we ended up losing three floats on the river due to the low water and the sharp rocks. We were doubled up on several tubes and one had to float in the water with a life jacket. Everyone ended up with cuts and bruises and a couple broken toes. When we finally got towards the end we couldn't even make it to the stop point, the river was so low. We had to cross sideways to the Riverbank. We had to climb out and climb through the brush to the street and walk to get our car and drive back and collect all of our things. This was by far the worst tubing adventure we have ever been on. Thank God we had several men who were Boy Scouts with us who saved the day by keeping us safe and getting us home. I would never recommend this company or their services to anyone, especially if you are inexperienced or this is your first time tubing. I highly recommend looking at the water level and if it is low do not tube! Again I wish this were the end of my review, but today a member in our party that was with us on the river yesterday received a scathing phone call from the owner of this company because of an honest review of our experience. She screamed and yelled at her for the review and questioned her character to keep such poor company in life. Just Wow! I truly did not think that this experience could get any worse. Bottom line is this area of the river is dangerous because of the low water levels and this company does not provide any service that you couldn't do on your own. Tubing is so much fun - this was dangerous and definitely deflated not only three of our tubes but our entire day. Sadly, Highly DO NOT recommend. read more

This was probably one of our most favorite and fun floats we have done! Some of us tubed and some kayaked! We loved the option of both. The water was cool but it was refreshing with the bright sunshine! We would definitely recommend and come back the next time we are in town! read more

First time kayaking the Holston and we loved it. We brought our own gear and it was so nice to be dropped off for so cheap! It took us about 4 hours and we got BURNT so bring your sunscreen and reapply. Lots of fun and the price was great. We also had a broken paddle so they let us use one of theirs no charge. My sister and I were in town visiting our grandmother and wanted to explore the Holston. North Fork Adventures was close and convenient. Steve and Brandon were great! They set us up with 2 sit in singles and took us to a great spot to give us a couple of hours on the water. We really enjoyed the wildlife and mountainous views. Overall this company has competitive rates and quality customer service! I highly recommend you give them a call. They rent inner tubes as well. We might try that next time! read more

I contacted Northfork Adventures on the recommendation of a co-worker. I called on the Friday before we planned to come to check their hours for the following Tuesday. The lady I spoke with said they opened at 10am but if we wanted to come earlier they'd be happy to meet us. We planned to arrive between 10 or 11 so their opening time was great with our schedule. We arrived Tuesday at 10:30am to find the business closed. I called the number and got voicemail. I left a message explaining that I had called the previous week to make sure they were going to be open, so I wouldn't drive an hour to get there and find them closed. I asked them to call me back, and a week later I'm still waiting for that call. This is a great location and model for a business, it just needs a professional to run it... read more

What a great day tubing! The owners were awesome and their rates were great! Highly recommend these guys. We rented tubes but they also have kayaks. River was just right. We had to walk the tubes over some rocks/small rapids in a couple spots, but most of the ride floated right along. read more
